the Prophet said: "Fast the Day of Arafah, for indeed I anticipate that Allah will forgive (the sins) of the year after it, and the year before it."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ وَالسَّنَةَ الَّتِي بَعْدَهُ

“Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah, I hope from Allah, expiates for the sins of the year before and the year after.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ وَالَّتِي بَعْدَهُ

“Fasting the day of ‘Ashura’, I hope, will expiate for the sins of the previous year.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Fasting the day of Arafat expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year, and fasting the day of Ashura expiates the sins of a year."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ صَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَتَيْنِ سَنَةٍ مَاضِيَةٍ وَسَنَةٍ مُسْتَقْبَلَةٍ وَصَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ

[AI] About the Prophet ﷺ said, "Fasting on the day of Arafah, I hope for Allah to expiate the sins of the previous and upcoming year, and fasting on the day of Ashura, I hope for Allah to expiate the sins of the previous year."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبَ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ وَالسَّنَةَ الَّتِي بَعْدَهُ وَصِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ»

[AI] About the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , it was asked regarding the fasting of Arafah. He said, "It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the sins of the following year."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ سُئِلَ عَنْ صِيَامِ عَرَفَةَ؟ قَالَ «يُكَفِّرُ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي أَنْتَ فِيهَا وَالسَّنَةَ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever fasts the Day of Arafah, it expiates for him the sins of two years."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ صَامَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ كَانَ لَهُ كَفَّارَةَ سَنَتَيْنِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Fasting on the day of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year, and fasting on the day of Ashura expiates the sins of one year."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «صَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَتَيْنِ سَنَةٍ قَبْلَهُ وَسَنَةٍ بَعْدَهُ وَصَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ who said, "The fasting of Arafat is an expiation for the sins of the previous year and the coming year."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «صِيَامُ عَرَفَةَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ قَبْلَهُ وَسَنَةٍ بَعْدَهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The fasting of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year, and the fasting of Ashura expiates the sins of one year."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «صَوْمُ عَرَفَةَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَتَيْنِ سَنَةٍ مَاضِيَةٍ وَسَنَةٍ مُسْتَقْبِلَةٍ وَصَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: The fasting of the Day of Arafah is an expiation for the sins of the previous year and the coming year, and the fasting of the Day of Ashura is an expiation for the sins of the previous year.

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ صَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا وَصَوْمُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ

"صَوْمُ يَوم التروية كفَّارَةُ سَنَةٍ، وَصَوْمُ يَوْم عَرَفة كَفَّارَةُ سَنَتَينِ".

"صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ، إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَى الله أَنْ يُكَفِّرَ الْسَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ، والسَّنَةَ الَّتِي بَعْدَه".

"صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ، يُكَفِّرُ السَّنَةَ الَّتي فيها، والسَّنَةَ الَّتي بَعْدَهَا".

"مَن صَامَ يَومَ عَرَفَةَ كَانَ لَهُ كَفَّارَةَ سَنَتَينِ".

"عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ يَعْدِلُ سَنَةً قَبْلَهُ وَسَنَةً بَعْدَهُ، وَصَوْمُ عَاشُوَراءَ كَفَّارَةُ سَنَة".

"عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ: صِيَامُ عَرَفَةَ يَعْدِلُ سَنَةً قَبْلَهُ وَسَنَةً بَعْدَهُ".
