9. Book of Ṣalāh (16/30)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺas saying: When the iqamah is pronounced for prayer, no prayer is valid except the obligatory prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1266)
[Machine] Abu Bakr entered the mosque and found the Prophet ﷺ in the state of Rukoo' (bowing in prayer). Abu Bakr also performed Rukoo' and then proceeded to join the prayer row. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "May Allah increase your eagerness, but don't repeat this."
Abu Bakrah said that he came to the mosque when the prophet ﷺ was bowing. So I bowed outside the row (before joining it). The prophet ﷺ said; May Allah increase your eagerness! But do not do it again. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 683)
“I stayed overnight with my maternal aunt Maimunah, and the Prophet ﷺ got up during the night to perform prayer. So I got up and stood on his left. He took me by the hand and made me stand on his right.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 973)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man praying alone behind the row. He ordered him to repeat. Sulayman ibn Harb said: The prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 682)
"A man prayed alone behind the row s the Prophet ordered him to repeat the Salat." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 231)
"A man prayed alone behind the row s the Prophet ordered him to repeat the Salat." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 231)
[Machine] We came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, a man, who was alone, remained standing. The Prophet ﷺ stood by him until the man completed his prayer. Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Face your prayer, for there is no prayer for an individual behind the row."
[Machine] Narrated by my father Ali ibn Shayban, who was one of the delegation that went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the tribe of Banu Hanifa. He said, "I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he looked at a man standing alone behind the row and said, 'Did you pray like this?' The man replied, 'Yes.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Then redo your prayer, for there is no prayer for an individual behind the row alone.'"
"I prayed beside the Prophet ﷺ and Ayesha was behind us praying with us, and I was beside the Prophet ﷺ praying with him." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 804)
Get up, I shall lead you in prayer. Anas said: I got up and took a mat which had become black on account of long use. I then washed it with water. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood upon it. I and the orphan (Ibn Abi Dumairah, the freed slave of the prophet) stood in a row behind him. The old women stood behind us. He then led us in two raka'at of prayer and left. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 612)
It was narrated from Anas that he and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his mother, and his maternal aunt (were together). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed, and he told Anas to stand on his right and his mother and maternal aunt behind them. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 803)
'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not prevent the maid-servants of Allah from going to the mosque. (Using translation from Muslim 442c)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allow women to go to the mosques at night." Some of his sons objected, saying, "Do not allow them, as they may cause disturbance." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah deal with you accordingly. I say to let them go and you say not to."
Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from visiting the mosques of Allah, but they may go out (to the mosque) having no perfumed themselves. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 565)
The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said to her: "If you go out to 'Isha' then do not touch any perfume." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5261)
When women ask permission for going to the mosque, do not prevent them. (Using translation from Muslim 442a)
Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from visiting the mosques of Allah, but they may go out (to the mosque) having no perfumed themselves. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 565)
[Machine] She heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "If one of you attends the evening prayer, then do not touch any fragrance."
[Machine] "During the time of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , women were instructed in prayer not to raise their heads until men had taken their seats from the ground due to the tightness of their clothing."
[Machine] About his aunt, Umm Humaid, the wife of Abu Humaid Al-Sa'idi, she came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I love to pray with you." He said, "I know that you love to pray with me, but your prayer in your house is better than your prayer in your room, and your prayer in your room is better than your prayer in your house, and your prayer in your house is better than your prayer in the mosque of your people, and your prayer in the mosque of your people is better than your prayer in my mosque." Then she commanded that a mosque be built for her in the farthest part of her house, the darkest part, and she used to pray there until she met Allah, the Most High.
I offered the Friday prayer along with Anas ibn Malik. We were pushed to the pillars (due to the crowd of people). We, therefore, stopped forward and backward. Anas then said: We used to avoid it (setting a row between the pillars) during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 673)
[Machine] Regarding prayer, we stand between the rows and are not to be pushed out of them.
[Machine] I asked Bilal, "Where did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pray when he entered the Kaaba?" He said, "Between the two forward pillars." Then I forgot to ask him how many units he prayed.
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: He who leads the people in prayer, and he does so at the right time, will receive, as well as those who are led (in prayer) will get (the reward). He who delays (prayer) from the appointed time will be responsible (for this delay) and not those who are led in prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 580)
My father said. "Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If the Iqama is pronounced then do not stand for the prayer till you see me (in front of you).' " (Using translation from Bukhārī 637)
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When the Iqamah for prayer is said, do not stand up until you see that I have come out.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 687)
I was in the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the expedition of Tabuk. He abandoned the main road before the dawn prayer, and I also did the same along with him. The Prophet ﷺ made his camel kneel down and (went to ) relieve himself. He then came back and I poured water upon his hands from the skin-vessel. He then washed his hands and face. He tried to get his forearms out (of the gown), but the sleeves of the gown were too narrow, so he entered back both his hands, and brought them out from beneath the gown. He washed his forearms up to the elbows and wiped his head and wiped over his socks.80 He then mounted (his camel) and we began to proceed until we found people offering the prayer. They brought forward ‘Abd al-Rahman b. ‘Awf who was leading them in prayer. The Prophet ﷺ stood in the row side by side with other Muslims. He performed the second rak’ah of the prayer behind ‘Abd al-Rahman b. ‘Awf. Then ‘Abd al-Rahman uttered salutation. The Prophet ﷺ stood to perform the remaining rak’ah of the prayer. The Muslims were alarmed. They began to utter tasbih (Subhan Allah) presuming that they had offered prayer before the Prophet ﷺ had done. When he uttered the salutation (i.e. finished his prayer), he said: You were right, or (he said) you did well. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 149)

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood out, then he came and I poured water over him from the ewer. He washed his face, then he went to wipe his arms and the sleeve of the Messenger of Allah's jubba (cloak) was too tight, which was made of Roman wool. So he put his hand in a slit at the waist of it and washed them to the elbows. Then he wiped his head and wiped over his socks. Then he turned and I was with him, and he found people praying. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood in the row, and 'Abdul Rahman ibn 'Awf led them in prayer. We caught up with him and he had already prayed one rak'ah, so we prayed the second one with 'Abdul Rahman. When he finished the prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and completed his prayer. The people were surprised by that. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, he said, "You have done well when your imam was detained and the prayer came, by appointing someone to lead you in prayer."

(the wife of the Prophet) In the lifetime of Messenger of Allah ﷺ the women used to get up when they finished their compulsory prayers with Taslim. The Prophet ﷺ and the men would stay on at their places as long as Allah will. When the Prophet ﷺ got up, the men would then get up. (Using translation from Bukhārī 866)

Umm Salamah told her that during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when the women said the taslim at the end of the prayer, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the men who had prayed with him would stay put for as long as Allah ﷺ willed. Then, when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ got up, the men did too. (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1333)

[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until we approached the waters of Al-Arab in the evening. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who among you will go ahead of us and reach the pond, drink from it, and then serve us water?" Jabir said, "I stood up and said, 'This man, O Messenger of Allah!' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Which man is it with Jabir?' Then Jabbar ibn Sakhr stood up and we went to the well. We drew water from the pond, filling it with a cup or two, and then we passed it around until we were full. The first one who came upon us was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he asked, 'Did you seek permission?' We said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah!' He started watering his camel and it drank, then he tied it there, and then drank from the pond himself. I got up and made ablution from the Prophet's ﷺ ablution water. Jabbar ibn Sakhr went to answer the call of nature, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to pray. I had a linen garment that I was wearing, and it was hanging between my sides. It did not reach me properly, and it was flapping. I fixed it and tucked it between my sides. Then I came until I stood on the left side of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He took my hand and turned me around until I was on his right side. Jabbar ibn Sakhr came and made ablution, then he came and stood on the left side of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He took all of us by the hands and moved us back until we were behind him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked at me intensely and I did not realize. Then I became aware and he said, 'Jabir!' I said, 'Here I am, O Messenger of Allah!' He said, 'If your garment is wide, keep it hanging between your sides, and if it is tight, tighten it on your hips.'"
