Truth leads one to Paradise and virtue leads one to Paradise and the person tells the truth until he is recorded as truthful, and lie leads to obscenity and obscenity leads to Hell, and the person tells a lie until he is recorded as a liar.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ صِدِّيقًا وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ كَذَّابًا  

Telling of truth is a virtue and virtue leads to Paradise and the servant who endeavours to tell the truth is recorded as truthful, and lie is obscenity and obscenity leads to Hell-Fire, and the servant who endeavours to tell a lie is recorded as a liar. Ibn Abu Shaiba reported this from Allah's Apostle ﷺ.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ بِرٌّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ فُجُورٌ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ لَيَتَحَرَّى الْكَذِبَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ كَذَّابًا قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ  

It is obligatory for you to tell the truth, for truth leads to virtue and virtue leads to Paradise, and the man who continues to speak the truth and endeavours to tell the truth is eventually recorded as truthful with Allah, and beware of telling of a lie for telling of a lie leads to obscenity and obscenity leads to Hell-Fire, and the person who keeps telling lies and endeavours to tell a lie is recorded as a liar with Allah.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَمَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَمَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَكْذِبُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الْكَذِبَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَذَّابًا  

Avoid falsehood, for falsehood leads to wickedness, and wickedness to hell; and if a man continues to speak falsehood and makes falsehood his object, he will be recorded in Allah’s presence as a great liar. And adhere to truth, for truth leads to good deeds, and good deeds lead to paradise. If a man continues to speak the truth and makes truth his object, he will be recorded in Allah’s presence as eminently truthful.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكْذِبُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الْكَذِبَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَذَّابًا وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا  

"Abide by truthfulness. For indeed truthfulness leads to righteousness. And indeed righteousness leads to Paradise. A man continues telling the truth and trying hard to tell the truth until he is recorded with Allah as a truthful person. Refrain from falsehood. For indeed falsehood leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. A slave (of Allah) continues lying and trying hard to lie, until he is recorded with Allah as a liar."  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَمَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَمَا يَزَالُ الْعَبْدُ يَكْذِبُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الْكَذِبَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَذَّابًا وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ وَعُمَرَ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ  

Malik related to me that he heard that Abdullah ibn Masud used to say, "You must tell the truth. Truthfulness leads to right action. Right action leads to the Garden. Beware of lying. Lying leads to corruption, and corruption leads to the Fire. Don't you see that it is said, 'He speaks the truth and acts rightly,' and, 'He lies and is corrupt.' "  

أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ كَانَ يَقُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَالْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَالْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ أَلاَ تَرَى أَنَّهُ يُقَالُ صَدَقَ وَبَرَّ وَكَذَبَ وَفَجَرَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَالْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ كَذَّابًا وَقَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّهُ يَعْنِي الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ صِدِّيقًا قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ وَمَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ  

[Machine] That Abdullah narrates Hadiths to the Prophet ﷺ who said: "Verily, the worst of narrators are those who narrate lies. Neither seriousness nor joking is permissible in lying. And a man promises his son, but does not fulfill it. Verily, truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. It is said that the truthful person is truthful and righteous, and it is said that the liar is a liar and wicked. Indeed, a person will continue to be truthful until he is recorded with Allah as truthful, and he will lie until he is recorded with Allah as a liar."  

أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ شَرَّ الرَّوَايَا رَوَايَا الْكَذِبِ وَلَا يَصْلُحُ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ جِدٌّ وَلَا هَزْلٌ وَلَا يَعِدُ الرَّجُلُ ابْنَهُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنْجِزُ لَهُ إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّهُ يُقَالُ لِلصَّادِقِ صَدَقَ وَبَرَّ وَيُقَالُ لِلْكَاذِبِ كَذَبَ وَفَجَرَ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا وَيَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَذَّابًا  

[Machine] "Abdullah reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Verily, lying is not appropriate whether it is done seriously or in jest, or when a person promises his son but does not fulfill it. Indeed, truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And indeed, lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire. It is said about the truthful person, 'He is truthful and virtuous,' and about the liar, 'He lied and is treacherous.' Indeed, a person continues to tell the truth until they are recorded with Allah as truthful, or they keep lying until they are recorded with Allah as a liar.'"  

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَفَعَ الْحَدِيثَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِنَّ الْكَذِبَ لَا يَصْلُحُ مِنْهُ جِدٌّ وَلَا هَزْلٌ وَلَا أَنْ يَعِدَ الرَّجُلُ ابْنَهُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنْجِزُ لَهُ إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ إِنَّهُ يُقَالُ لِلصَّادِقِ صَدَقَ وَبَرَّ وَيُقَالُ لِلْكَاذِبِ كَذَبَ وَفَجَرَ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صَدِيقًا أَوْ يَكْذِبَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَذَّابًا «»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ لَيَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ كَذَّابًا»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6094)   

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ صَدِّيقًا وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ كَذَّابًا  

'Abdullah reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "You must be truthful. Truthfulness leads to dutifulness and dutifulness leads to the Garden. A man continues to tell the truth until he is written as a siddiq with Allah. Beware of lying. Lying leads to deviance and deviance leads to the Fire. A man continues to lie until he is written as a liar with Allah."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ يَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ صِدِّيقًا وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَالْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ كَذَّابًا  

[Machine] Abdullah ibn Mas'ud used to say: "Adhere to honesty because it leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. Beware of lying because it leads to immorality, and immorality leads to Hellfire. Indeed, he used to say the truth and be righteous, and he used to lie and commit evil deeds."  

أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ كَانَ يَقُولُ عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّهُ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ وَالْبِرُّ يَهْدِي إِلَى [124] الْجَنَّةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ وَالْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ صَدَقَ وَبَرَّ وَكَذَبَ وَفَجَرَ  

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fajur (i.e. wickedness, evil-doing), and Al-Fajur (wickedness) leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man may keep on telling lies till he is written before Allah, a liar." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6094)   

"إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدى إِلى الْبَرِّ، وَإنَّ الْبَرَّ يَهْدى إِلى الْجَنة، وَإنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ حتَّى يُكْتَبَ عنْدَ الله صِدِّيقًا، وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدى إِلى الْفُجُورِ، وإن الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِى إِلى النَّارِ، وإِنَّ الرَّجَلَ لَيَكْذِبُ حتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ الله كَذَّابًا".  

"إِنَّ الْكَذِبَ لا يَصْلُحُ منْه جِدٌّ، وَلا هَزْلٌ، وَلَا أَنْ يعِدَ الرَّجلُ ابْنَه ثُمَّ لا يُنْجِزُ لَهُ، إِنَّ الصَّدْقَ يَهْدى إِلى الْجَنَّة، وَإنَّ الْكَذبَ يهْدى إِلى الْفُجورِ، وَإنَّ الْفُجُورَ يهْدِى إِلى النَّار، إِنَّهُ يُقَالُ للصَّادِق: صَدَق، وَبَرَّ، ويُقَاَلُ للكَاذِب كذبَ وَفَجَر، وَإِنَّ الرجل لَيَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْد اللهِ صِدِّيقًا، ويَكْذِبُ حتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْد اللهِ كَذَّابًا ".  

"عَلَيكُمْ بِالصّدقِ فإِنَّ الصِّدقَ يَهْدِى إِلَى البِرِّ، وَإِنَّ البِرَّ يَهْدِى إِلى الجَنَّةِ، وَمَا يزَال الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ، ويتحرَّى الصِّدق حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ الله صِدِّيقًا، وإِيَّاكُم والكَذِب، فإِنَّ الكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلى الْفُجُورِ، وإِنَّ الفُجُورِ يَهْدِى إِلَى النَّارِ، ومَا يزَالُ الرَّجلُ يَكْذِبُ وَيَتَحرَّى الكَذِبَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ كَذَّابًا".  

"إِيَّاكُمْ والكَذِبَ فَإِنَّ الكَذِبَ يَهْدى إِلَى الفُجُورِ، وَإنَّ الفُجُورَ يَهْدِى إِلَى النَّارِ، وَإنَّ الرَّجلَ ليكْذِبُ وَيَتَحرَّى الكذبَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّه كَذَّابًا، وَعَلَيكُمْ بالصِّدْقِ، فَإنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِى إِلَى البِرِ، وَإنَّ البِرَّ يَهْدِى إِلَى الجَنَّةِ، وإنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَصْدُقُ وَيتَحرَّى الصِّدْقَ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ صِدِّيقًا ".
