27. Righteousness and Ties of Kinship (1/3)
٢٧۔ كتاب البر والصلة ص ١
"I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Who most deserves(my) reverence?' He said: 'Your mother.'" He said: "I said: 'Then who?' He said: 'Your mother.'" He said: "I said: 'Then who?' He said: 'Your mother.'" He said: "I said: 'Then who?' He said: 'Then your father, then the nearest relatives, then the nearest relatives.'"
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَنْ أَبَرُّ قَالَ أُمَّكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَ أُمَّكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَ أُمَّكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَبَاكَ ثُمَّ الأَقْرَبَ فَالأَقْرَبَ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ وَعَائِشَةَ وَأَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ
27.2 Also About That
٢٧۔٢ باب مِنْهُ
"I asked the Messenger of Allah: 'O Messenger of Allah! Which is the most virtuous of deeds?' He said: 'Salat during its appropriate time.' I said: 'Then what, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Being dutiful to one's parents.' I said: 'Then what, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Jihad in the cause of Allah.' Then the messenger of Allah was silent, and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more.'"
سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَىُّ الأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ الصَّلاَةُ لِمِيقَاتِهَا قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَاذَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ سَكَتَ عَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَوِ اسْتَزَدْتُهُ لَزَادَنِي
27.3 What Has Been About The Virtue Of Pleasing One's Parents
٢٧۔٣ باب مَا جَاءَ مِنَ الْفَضْلِ فِي رِضَا الْوَالِدَيْنِ
the Prophet said: "The Lord's pleasure is in the parent's pleasure, and the Lord's anger is in the parent's anger."(Hasan).
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ رِضَا الرَّبِّ فِي رِضَا الْوَالِدِ وَسَخَطُ الرَّبِّ فِي سَخَطِ الْوَالِدِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو نَحْوَهُ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ
He said that a man came and said : "I have a wife whom my mother has ordered me to divorce." So Abu Ad-Darda said: " I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: 'The father is the middle gate to Paradise. So if you wish, then neglect that door, or protect it.'"
إِنَّ لِي امْرَأَةً وَإِنَّ أُمِّي تَأْمُرُنِي بِطَلاَقِهَا قَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الْوَالِدُ أَوْسَطُ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ فَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَضِعْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابَ أَوِ احْفَظْهُ قَالَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ سُفْيَانُ إِنَّ أُمِّي وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ أَبِي وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ
27.4 What Has Been Related About Disobeying Parents
٢٧۔٤ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي عُقُوقِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ
" The messenger of Allah said: 'Shall I not tell you of the biggest of the major sins?' they said : 'Of course! O Messenger of Allah!' He said: 'To join partners with Allah, and disobeying one's parents.'"He said : " He sat up, and he had been reclining. He said: 'And false testimony, or false speech.' And the Messenger of Allah would not stop saying it until we said (to ourselves): 'I wish that he would stop.'"
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَلاَ أُحَدِّثُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ الإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ قَالَ وَجَلَسَ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا فَقَالَ وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ أَوْ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ
the Messenger of Allah said: "It is among the greatest of sins that a man should curse his parents." They said: "O Messenger of Allah! Does a man curse his parents?" He said: "Yes. He verbally abuses the father of a man, who in turn, verbally abuses his father, and he (retaliates and) curses his mother , so he curses his mother."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ أَنْ يَشْتُمَ الرَّجُلُ وَالِدَيْهِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَهَلْ يَشْتُمُ الرَّجُلُ وَالِدَيْهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ يَسُبُّ أَبَا الرَّجُلِ فَيَشْتُمُ أَبَاهُ وَيَشْتُمُ أُمَّهُ فَيَسُبُّ أُمَّهُ
27.5 What Has Been Related About Honoring The Father's Friends
٢٧۔٥ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي إِكْرَامِ صَدِيقِ الْوَالِدِ
the Prophet said: "Among the most dutiful of deeds is that a man nurture relations with the people his father was friends with."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّ أَبَرَّ الْبِرِّ أَنْ يَصِلَ الرَّجُلُ أَهْلَ وُدِّ أَبِيهِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي أَسِيدٍ
27.6 About Being Dutiful To The Maternal Aunt
٢٧۔٦ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي بِرِّ الْخَالَةِ
the Prophet said: "The maternal aunt holds the same status as the mother."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ الْخَالَةُ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الأُمِّ وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ قِصَّةٌ طَوِيلَةٌ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ
A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have been afflicted by a tremendous sin. Is there any repentance for me?" He said: "Do you have your mother?" The man said: "No." He said: "Do you have any maternal aunts?" The man said: "Yes." He said: "Then be dutiful to them."
أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ ذَنْبًا عَظِيمًا فَهَلْ لِي مِنْ تَوْبَةٍ قَالَ هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ أُمٍّ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ هَلْ لَكَ مِنْ خَالَةٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَبِرَّهَا وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ وَالْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ
(Another chain) From Abu Bakr bin Hafs, from the Prophet ﷺ, and it is similar, but he did not mention "from Ibn ʿUmar" in it. This is more correct than the Hadith of Abu Mu'awiyah, and Abu Bakr bin Hafs is Ibn 'Umar bin Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (narrators in the chain of this Hadith.)
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ نَحْوَهُ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ حَفْصٍ هُوَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ
27.7 What Has Been Related About Supplicating For One's Parents
٢٧۔٧ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي دَعْوَةِ الْوَالِدَيْنِ
"Three supplications are accepted , there is no doubt in them (about them being accepted): The supplication of the oppressed, the supplication of the traveler, and the supplication of a parent against his child."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ثَلاَثُ دَعَوَاتٍ مُسْتَجَابَاتٌ لاَ شَكَّ فِيهِنَّ دَعْوَةُ الْمَظْلُومِ وَدَعْوَةُ الْمُسَافِرِ وَدَعْوَةُ الْوَالِدِ عَلَى وَلَدِهِ
27.8 What Has Been Related About Parent's Rights
٢٧۔٨ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي حَقِّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ
the Messenger of Allah said: "A son could not do enough for his father, unless he found him as a slave and purchased him to set him free."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَجْزِي وَلَدٌ وَالِدًا إِلاَّ أَنْ يَجِدَهُ مَمْلُوكًا فَيَشْتَرِيَهُ فَيُعْتِقَهُ
27.9 What Has Been Related About Severing the Ties Of Kinship
٢٧۔٩ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي قَطِيعَةِ الرَّحِمِ
" Abu[Ar-Raddad] Al-Laithi complained(of an illness). So 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf visited him. He said: 'The best of you, and the most apt to maintain good relations, as far as I know, is Abu Muhammad('Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf). So 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf' said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah saying : "Allah, Most Blessed and Most High, said: 'I am Allah, and I am Ar-Rahman. I created the Rahim(womb), and named it after My Name. So whoever keeps good relations with it, I keep good relation with him, and whoever severs it, I am finished with him.'"
خَيْرُهُمْ وَأَوْصَلُهُمْ مَا عَلِمْتُ أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ قَالَ اللَّهُ أَنَا اللَّهُ وَأَنَا الرَّحْمَنُ خَلَقْتُ الرَّحِمَ وَشَقَقْتُ لَهَا مِنَ اسْمِي فَمَنْ وَصَلَهَا وَصَلْتُهُ وَمَنْ قَطَعَهَا بَتَتُّهُ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ وَابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى وَعَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَجُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ
27.10 What Has Been Related About Connecting The Ties Of Kinship
٢٧۔١٠ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي صِلَةِ الرَّحِمِ
the Prophet said: "Merely maintaining the ties of kinship is not adequate. But connecting the ties of kinship is when his ties to the womb are severed and he connects it."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْوَاصِلُ بِالْمُكَافِئِ وَلَكِنَّ الْوَاصِلَ الَّذِي إِذَا انْقَطَعَتْ رَحِمُهُ وَصَلَهَا
the Messenger of Allah said: "The one who severs ties will not enter Paradise." Ibn Abi 'Umar said: "Sufyan said: 'Meaning: Ties of the womb."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ قَاطِعٌ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي قَاطِعَ رَحِمٍ
27.11 What Has Been Related About The Love Of A Parent For His Child
٢٧۔١١ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي حُبِّ الْوَلَدِ
'a righteous woman, Khawlah bint Hakim said: "The Messenger of Allah came out during the middle of the day, while holding one of the sons of his daughter in his arms. He was saying: 'You are what makes them stingy, cowardly and ignorant. And you are but Raihanillah
خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ وَهُوَ مُحْتَضِنٌ أَحَدَ ابْنَىِ ابْنَتِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ إِنَّكُمْ لَتُبَخِّلُونَ وَتُجَبِّنُونَ وَتُجَهِّلُونَ وَإِنَّكُمْ لَمِنْ رَيْحَانِ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَالأَشْعَثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ
27.12 What Has Been Related About Being Merciful With The Children
٢٧۔١٢ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي رَحْمَةِ الْوَلَدِ
"Al-Aqra' bin Habis saw the prophet kissing Al-Hasan"- Ibn Abi 'Umar (one of the narrators) said:"Al-Hasan and Al-Husain." So he said: 'I have ten children and I do not kiss any one of them.' So the Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever shows no mercy, he will be shown no mercy."
أَبْصَرَ الأَقْرَعُ بْنُ حَابِسٍ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُقَبِّلُ الْحَسَنَ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْحُسَيْنَ أَوِ الْحَسَنَ فَقَالَ إِنَّ لِي مِنَ الْوَلَدِ عَشَرَةً مَا قَبَّلْتُ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّهُ مَنْ لاَ يَرْحَمْ لاَ يُرْحَمْ
27.13 What Has Been Related About Spending on Daughters And Sisters
٢٧۔١٣ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي النَّفَقَةِ عَلَى الْبَنَاتِ وَالأَخَوَاتِ
the Messenger of Allah said: "There is no one who has three daughters, or three sisters, and he treats them well, except that he enters paradise."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَكُونُ لأَحَدِكُمْ ثَلاَثُ بَنَاتٍ أَوْ ثَلاَثُ أَخَوَاتٍ فَيُحْسِنُ إِلَيْهِنَّ إِلاَّ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَعُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ وَأَنَسٍ وَجَابِرٍ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ
Whoever shows patience with a trial from daughters will be protected from Hellfire
the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever is tried with something from daughters, and he is patient with them, they will be a barrier from the Fire for him."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «مَنِ ابْتُلِيَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الْبَنَاتِ فَصَبَرَ عَلَيْهِنَّ كُنَّ لَهُ حِجَابًا مِنَ النَّارِ۔»
the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever raises two girls then I and he will enter Paradise like these two." And he indicated with his two fingers.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ عَالَ جَارِيَتَيْنِ دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَهُوَ الْجَنَّةَ كَهَاتَيْنِ وَأَشَارَ بِأَصْبُعَيْهِ
"A woman came to me with two daughters. She was asking (for food) but I did not have anything with me except a date. So I gave it to her and she divided it between her two daughters without eating any of it herself. Then she got up to leave, and the Prophet entered, and I informed him about her. So the Prophet said: " Whoever is tested something from these daughters (and he/she passes the test), they will be a screen for them from the Fire."
دَخَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مَعَهَا ابْنَتَانِ لَهَا فَسَأَلَتْ فَلَمْ تَجِدْ عِنْدِي شَيْئًا غَيْرَ تَمْرَةٍ فَأَعْطَيْتُهَا إِيَّاهَا فَقَسَمَتْهَا بَيْنَ ابْنَتَيْهَا وَلَمْ تَأْكُلْ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ قَامَتْ فَخَرَجَتْ فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مَنِ ابْتُلِيَ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْبَنَاتِ كُنَّ لَهُ سِتْرًا مِنَ النَّارِ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ
the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever has three daughters, or three sisters, or two daughters, or two sisters and he keeps good company with them and fears Allah regarding them, then Paradise is for him.
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ ثَلاَثُ بَنَاتٍ أَوْ ثَلاَثُ أَخَوَاتٍ أَوِ ابْنَتَانِ أَوْ أُخْتَانِ فَأَحْسَنَ صُحْبَتَهُنَّ وَاتَّقَى اللَّهَ فِيهِنَّ فَلَهُ الْجَنَّةُ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ
27.14 What Has Been Related About Being Merciful With The Orphan And Raising Him
٢٧۔١٤ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي رَحْمَةِ الْيَتِيمِ وَكَفَالَتِهِ
the Prophet said: Whoever takes in an orphan among the Muslims to raise, to feed him and give him drink, Allah admits him into Paradise without a doubt, unless he has done a sin for which he is not forgiven."
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ قَبَضَ يَتِيمًا بَيْنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى طَعَامِهِ وَشَرَابِهِ أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ الْبَتَّةَ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ ذَنْبًا لاَ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ مُرَّةَ الْفِهْرِيِّ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَبِي أُمَامَةَ وَسَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ
the Messenger of Allah said: " I and the sponsor of an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two."And he indicaed with his fingers, meaning his index and his middle finger
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَا وَكَافِلُ الْيَتِيمِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ وَأَشَارَ بِأُصْبُعَيْهِ يَعْنِي السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى
27.15 What Has Been Related About Being Merciful With Boys
٢٧۔١٥ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي رَحْمَةِ الصِّبْيَانِ
"An older man came to talk to the Prophet, and the people were hesitant to make room for him. The Prophet said: ;He is not one of us who does not have mercy on our young and does not respect our elders."
سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يَقُولُ جَاءَ شَيْخٌ يُرِيدُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَبْطَأَ الْقَوْمُ عَنْهُ أَنْ يُوَسِّعُوا لَهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا وَيُوَقِّرْ كَبِيرَنَا قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَبِي أُمَامَةَ
'He is not one of us who does not have mercy upon our young, nor knows the honor of our elders."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا وَيَعْرِفْ شَرَفَ كَبِيرِنَا
" He is not one of us who does not have mercy upon our young, respect our elders, and command good and forbid evil."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا وَيُوَقِّرْ كَبِيرَنَا وَيَأْمُرْ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ
27.16 What Has Been Related About Being Merciful With People
٢٧۔١٦ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي رَحْمَةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
"Whoever does not show mercy to the people, Allah will not show mercy to him."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ لاَ يَرْحَمُ النَّاسَ لاَ يَرْحَمُهُ اللَّهُ
"Mercy is not removed (from anyone) except from a wicked one."
كَتَبَ بِهِ إِلَىَّ مَنْصُورٌ وَقَرَأْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ سَمِعَ أَبَا عُثْمَانَ مَوْلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لاَ تُنْزَعُ الرَّحْمَةُ إِلاَّ مِنْ شَقِيٍّ قَالَ وَأَبُو عُثْمَانَ الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ لاَ يُعْرَفُ اسْمُهُ وَيُقَالُ هُوَ وَالِدُ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ أَبُو الزِّنَادِ وَقَدْ رَوَى أَبُو الزِّنَادِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ غَيْرَ حَدِيثٍ
Allah's Mercy will be shown only to those who are merciful; Show mercy to receive Mercy
"The merciful are shown mercy by Ar-Rahman. Be merciful on the earth, and you will be shown mercy from Who is above the heavens. The womb is named after Ar-Rahman, so whoever connects it, Allah connects him, and whoever severs it, Allah severs him."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الرَّاحِمُونَ يَرْحَمُهُمُ الرَّحْمَنُ ارْحَمُوا مَنْ فِي الأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ الرَّحِمُ شُجْنَةٌ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ فَمَنْ وَصَلَهَا وَصَلَهُ اللَّهُ وَمَنْ قَطَعَهَا قَطَعَهُ اللَّهُ
27.17 (What Has Been Related) About An-Nasihah
٢٧۔١٧ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي النَّصِيحَةِ
" I pledged to the Prophet to establish the Salat, give the Zakat, and to give sincere advice to every Muslim."
بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى إِقَامِ الصَّلاَةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ
the Messenger of Allah said: "The religion is An-Nasihah" three times. They said: "O Messenger of Allah! For Whom?" He said : "To Allah , His books, the A'immah of the Muslims, and their average people."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ ثَلاَثَ مِرَارٍ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لِمَنْ قَالَ لِلَّهِ وَلِكِتَابِهِ وَلأَئِمَّةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَعَامَّتِهِمْ
27.18 What Has Been Related About The Muslim's Compassion For the Muslim
٢٧۔١٨ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي شَفَقَةِ الْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ
: "The Muslim is the brother to the Muslim, he does not cheat him, lie to him, nor deceive him. All of the Muslim is unlawful to another Muslim: His Honor, his wealth, and his blood. At-taqwa is here. It is enough evil for a man that he belittle his brother Muslim."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ لاَ يَخُونُهُ وَلاَ يَكْذِبُهُ وَلاَ يَخْذُلُهُ كُلُّ الْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ حَرَامٌ عِرْضُهُ وَمَالُهُ وَدَمُهُ التَّقْوَى هَا هُنَا بِحَسْبِ امْرِئٍ مِنَ الشَّرِّ أَنْ يَحْتَقِرَ أَخَاهُ الْمُسْلِمَ
: The believer is to the believer like parts of a building, each one of them supporting the other."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمُؤْمِنُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ كَالْبُنْيَانِ يَشُدُّ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضًا
: "Indeed (each) one of you is the reflection of his brother. So if he sees something harmful in him, then let him remove it from him."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ مِرْآةُ أَخِيهِ فَإِنْ رَأَى بِهِ أَذًى فَلْيُمِطْهُ عَنْهُ
27.19 What Has Been Related About Covering(The Faults) Of The Muslims
٢٧۔١٩ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي السَّتْرِ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِ
: "Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ نَفَّسَ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ الدُّنْيَا نَفَّسَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ يَسَّرَ عَلَى مُعْسِرٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا يَسَّرَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَمَنْ سَتَرَ عَلَى مُسْلِمٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا سَتَرَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ وَاللَّهُ فِي عَوْنِ الْعَبْدِ مَا كَانَ الْعَبْدُ فِي عَوْنِ أَخِيهِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَعُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ
27.20 What Has Been Related About Defending (The Honor Of) The Muslim
٢٧۔٢٠ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الذَّبِّ عَنْ عِرْضِ الْمُسْلِمِ
"Whoever protects his brother's honor, Allah protects his face from the Fire on the Day of Resurrection."
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ رَدَّ عَنْ عِرْضِ أَخِيهِ رَدَّ اللَّهُ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ النَّارَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ
27.21 What Has Been Related About Shunning (The Muslim) Being Disliked
٢٧۔٢١ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي كَرَاهِيَةِ الْهَجْرِ لِلْمُسْلِمِ
: It is not lawful for the Muslim to shun his brother for more than three (days); they come fare to fare and this one turns away, and that one turns away. The best of them is the one who initiates the Salam."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثٍ يَلْتَقِيَانِ فَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَخَيْرُهُمَا الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلاَمِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَأَنَسٍ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَهِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ وَأَبِي هِنْدٍ الدَّارِيِّ
27.22 What Has Been Related About Consoling The Brother
٢٧۔٢٢ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي مُوَاسَاةِ الأَخِ
: "When 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf arrived in Al-Madinah, the Messenger of Allah established a bond of brotherhood between him and sa'd bin Ar-Rabi. So he said to him: "Come here, I will divide my wealth and give you half, and I have two wives, I will divorce one of them, and when she completes her waiting period you may marry her." He said: " May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth. Show me where the market is." So they showed him where the market was and he did not return that day except with some cottage cheese and cooking fat which he had earned as a profit. The Messenger of Allah saw him after that, and he had traces of yellow on him. So he said to him: "What is this?" He said: "I married a woman from the Ansar." He said : " What dowry did you give her?" He said: " A date-stone(of gold) - ( one of the narrators) Humaid said: "Or he said: - gold equal to the weight of a date-stone." So he said: 'Have a banquet, even if with only a sheep."
لَمَّا قَدِمَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ الْمَدِينَةَ آخَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ سَعْدِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ فَقَالَ لَهُ هَلُمَّ أُقَاسِمْكَ مَالِي نِصْفَيْنِ وَلِي امْرَأَتَانِ فَأُطَلِّقُ إِحْدَاهُمَا فَإِذَا انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا فَتَزَوَّجْهَا فَقَالَ بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي أَهْلِكَ وَمَالِكَ دُلُّونِي عَلَى السُّوقِ فَدَلُّوهُ عَلَى السُّوقِ فَمَا رَجَعَ يَوْمَئِذٍ إِلاَّ وَمَعَهُ شَيْءٌ مِنْ أَقِطٍ وَسَمْنٍ قَدِ اسْتَفْضَلَهُ فَرَآهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ وَعَلَيْهِ وَضَرٌ مِنْ صُفْرَةٍ فَقَالَ مَهْيَمْ قَالَ تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ قَالَ فَمَا أَصْدَقْتَهَا قَالَ نَوَاةً قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ أَوْ قَالَ وَزْنَ نَوَاةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ أَوْلِمْ وَلَوْ بِشَاةٍ
27.23 What Has Been Related About Backbiting
٢٧۔٢٣ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الْغِيبَةِ
" O Messenger of Allah! What is backbiting?" He said : " Mentioning your brother with that which he does not like." He said " What if what I said about him is so?" He said: "If what you said about him is so, then you have backbitten him, and if it is not as you said, then you have slandered him."
قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا الْغِيبَةُ قَالَ ذِكْرُكَ أَخَاكَ بِمَا يَكْرَهُ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ فِيهِ مَا أَقُولُ قَالَ إِنْ كَانَ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ فَقَدِ اغْتَبْتَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ مَا تَقُولُ فَقَدْ بَهَتَّهُ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ وَابْنِ عُمَرَ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو
27.24 What Has Been Related About Envy
٢٧۔٢٤ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الْحَسَدِ
"Do not cut off one another, nor desert one another, nor hate one another, nor envy one another. Be you , O worshippers o Allah, brothers. It is not lawful for the Muslim to shun his brother for more than three(days)."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تَقَاطَعُوا وَلاَ تَدَابَرُوا وَلاَ تَبَاغَضُوا وَلاَ تَحَاسَدُوا وَكُونُوا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِخْوَانًا وَلاَ يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلاَثٍ
"There is to be no envy except for two: A man to whom Allah grants wealth and he spends from it during the hours of the night and the hours of the day. And a man to whom Allah grants (memorization of) the Quran so he stands with it (in prayer) during the hours of the night and the hours of the day."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ حَسَدَ إِلاَّ فِي اثْنَتَيْنِ رَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ مَالاً فَهُوَ يُنْفِقُ مِنْهُ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ وَآنَاءَ النَّهَارِ وَرَجُلٌ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ الْقُرْآنَ فَهُوَ يَقُومُ بِهِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ وَآنَاءَ النَّهَارِ
27.25 What Has Been Related About Hatred
٢٧۔٢٥ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي التَّبَاغُضِ
"Indeed Ash-Shaitan has despaired of getting those who perform Salat to worship him.But he is engaged in sowing hatred among them."
قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ قَدْ يَئِسَ أَنْ يَعْبُدَهُ الْمُصَلُّونَ وَلَكِنْ فِي التَّحْرِيشِ بَيْنَهُمْ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
27.26 What Has Been Related About Rectifying Manners
٢٧۔٢٦ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي إِصْلاَحِ ذَاتِ الْبَيْنِ
"One who brings peace between people is not a liar, he says something good, or reports something good."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَيْسَ بِالْكَاذِبِ مَنْ أَصْلَحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ فَقَالَ خَيْرًا أَوْ نَمَى خَيْرًا
"it is not lawful to lie except in three cases: Something the man tells his wife to please her, to lie during war, and to lie in order to bring peace between the people."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَحِلُّ الْكَذِبُ إِلاَّ فِي ثَلاَثٍ يُحَدِّثُ الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ لِيُرْضِيَهَا وَالْكَذِبُ فِي الْحَرْبِ وَالْكَذِبُ لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَقَالَ مَحْمُودٌ فِي حَدِيثِهِ لاَ يَصْلُحُ الْكَذِبُ إِلاَّ فِي ثَلاَثٍ
27.27 What Has Been Related About Deception And Cheating
٢٧۔٢٧ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي الْخِيَانَةِ وَالْغِشِّ
"Whoever causes harm, Allah harms him, and whoever is harsh, Allah will be harsh with him."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ ضَارَّ ضَارَّ اللَّهُ بِهِ وَمَنْ شَاقَّ شَاقَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَلْعُونٌ مَنْ ضَارَّ مُؤْمِنًا أَوْ مَكَرَ بِهِ
27.28 What Has Been Related About The Rights Of Neighbors
٢٧۔٢٨ باب مَا جَاءَ فِي حَقِّ الْجِوَارِ
"Jibril – may the Salawat of Allah be upon him – continued to recommend me about (treating) the neighbors so (kindly and politely), that I thought he would order me to make them heirs.”
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا زَالَ جِبْرِيلُ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ
"Abdullah bin Amr had a sheep slaughtered for his family, so when he came he said: 'Have you given some to our neighbor, the Jew? Have you given some to our neighbor, the Jew? I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: 'Jibril continued to advise me about (treating) the neighbors so (kindly and politely), that I thought he would order me (from Allah) to make them heirs."
أَهْدَيْتُمْ لِجَارِنَا الْيَهُودِيِّ أَهْدَيْتُمْ لِجَارِنَا الْيَهُودِيِّ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا زَالَ جِبْرِيلُ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَأَنَسٍ وَالْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الأَسْوَدِ وَعُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ وَأَبِي شُرَيْحٍ وَأَبِي أُمَامَةَ
"The companion who is the best to Allah is the one who is best to his companion. And the neighbor that is the best to Allah is the one that is best to his neighbor."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَيْرُ الأَصْحَابِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِصَاحِبِهِ وَخَيْرُ الْجِيرَانِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرُهُمْ لِجَارِهِ
