[Machine] In his saying "{There shall be no compulsion in religion}" [Al-Baqarah 256], it is said that a woman from the Ansar tribe had no surviving children and she would swear that if she had a child, she would raise him as a Jew. Then, when the Banu Nadir tribe was expelled, there were some people among them who were from the sons of the Ansar tribe. So the Ansar said, "O Messenger of Allah, our children!" Then Allah revealed "{There shall be no compulsion in religion}" [Al-Baqarah 256]. Sa'id bin Jubayr said, "Whoever wants can join them (the Banu Nadir) and whoever wants can enter Islam."

[Machine] In his saying {There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion} [Al-Baqarah 256], it is said that it was revealed specifically regarding the Ansar. I asked, "Specifically?" He said, "Specifically, it was concerning the women among them who, if they made a vow or a pledge, would threaten that if they gave birth, they would make their child Jewish in order to prolong their persistence in that. Then Islam came and [this threat] was among them. So when the threat was removed, the Ansar said, 'O Messenger of Allah, our sons and brothers are among them.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent regarding them, and then [the verse] {There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion} [Al-Baqarah 256] was revealed. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Your associates have been given a choice. If they choose you, then they are from you, and if they choose them, then their term is extended with them.'"
