the Prophet taught him the Adhan with nineteen phrases, and the Iqamah with seventeen phrases. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 192)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ «عَلَّمَهُ الْأَذَانَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ كَلِمَةً وَالْإِقَامَةَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ كَلِمَةً»
the Prophet taught him the Adhan with nineteen phrases, and the Iqamah with seventeen phrases. (Using translation from Tirmidhī 192)
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ «عَلَّمَهُ الْأَذَانَ تِسْعَ عَشْرَةَ كَلِمَةً وَالْإِقَامَةَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ كَلِمَةً»
"Anas told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out when the sun had passed its zenith, and led them in Zuhr prayer." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 496)
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ «خَرَجَ حِينَ زَاغَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ»
“A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! I stay behind and do not perform the morning prayer (in congregation) because of so-and-so, for he makes it too long for us.’ I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ preaching with such anger as he did that day. He said; ‘O people! There are among you those who repel others. Whoever among you leads others in prayer, let him keep it short, for among them are those who are weak and elderly, and those who have pressing needs.’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 984)
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَتَأَخَّرُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ مِمَّا يُطِيلُ بِنَا فِيهَا فُلَانٌ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا فِي مَوْعِظَةٍ مِنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَالَ «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ مُنَفِّرِينَ فَمَنْ صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ فَلْيَتَجَوَّزْ فَإِنَّ فِيهِمُ الْكَبِيرَ وَالضَّعِيفَ وَذَا الْحَاجَةِ»
[Machine] About the Prophet (pbuh), and I heard it from Ubayy.
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَسَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ أُبَيٍّ
Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from visiting the mosques of Allah, but they may go out (to the mosque) having no perfumed themselves. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 565)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا تَمْنَعُوا إِمَاءَ اللَّهِ مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ وَلْيَخْرُجْنَ إِذَا خَرَجْنَ تَفِلَاتٍ»
[Machine] "About Amr ibn Huraith, in his direction."
عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ نَحْوِهِ
[Machine] About Mus'ab with his chain of narration regarding it.
عَنْ مُصْعَبٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِ نَحْوَهُ
[Machine] My grandfather told me that the Prophet ﷺ wiped his head and said, "Do not apply kohl during the day when you are fasting. Apply kohl at night with antimony, as it clears the vision and promotes hair growth." Abu Muhammad said, "I do not see any harm in using kohl."
عَنْ جَدِّي وَكَانَ جَدِّي قَدْ أُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَقَالَ «لَا تَكْتَحِلْ بِالنَّهَارِ وَأَنْتَ صَائِمٌ اكْتَحِلْ لَيْلًا بِالْإِثْمِدِ فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعَرَ» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد «لَا أَرَى بِالْكُحْلِ بَأْسًا»
[Machine] An Arab man came to the Prophet ﷺ . When he stood to urinate in a corner of the mosque, the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ shouted at him. The Prophet ﷺ stopped them and then called for a bucket of water and poured it over his urine.
جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا قَامَ بَالَ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ فَصَاحَ بِهِ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَكَفَّهُمْ عنْهُ ثُمَّ «دَعَا بِدَلْوٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَصَبَّهُ عَلَى بَوْلِهِ»
[Machine] Oh nephew, no one is more knowledgeable about this than me. "If the menstrual cycle begins, let her abandon prayer. And when it ends, let her perform the ritual ablution and pray."
يَا ابْنَ أَخِي مَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ أَعْلَمُ بِهَذَا مِنِّي «إِذَا أَقْبَلَتِ الْحَيْضَةُ فَلْتَدَعِ الصَّلَاةَ وَإِذَا أَدْبَرَتْ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ وَلْتُصَلِّ»
[Machine] "And if it flows like this tributary."
«وَإِنْ كَانَتْ تَسِيلُ مِثْلَ هَذَا الْمَثْعَبِ»
[Machine] "Yes, even if you catch him with ease, enter then seek forgiveness, and then enter."
«نَعَمْ وَإِنْ كُنْتِ تَثُجِّينَهُ ثَجًّا اسْتَدْخِلِي ثُمَّ اسْتَثْفِرِي ثُمَّ ادْخُلِي»
[Machine] Regarding menstruation, if a woman knows the days of her period and then gets divorced but the bleeding continues, she should count the length of her period as three menstrual cycles. When it comes to prayer, if the time of menstruation falls within each month, she should refrain from praying.
عَنِ الْحَسَنِ «فِي الْمُسْتَحَاضَةِ الَّتِي تَعْرِفُ أَيَّامَ حَيْضَتِهَا إِذَا طُلِّقَتْ فَيَطُولُ بِهَا الدَّمُ فَإِنَّهَا تَعْتَدُّ قَدْرَ أَقْرَائِهَا ثَلَاثَ حِيَضٍ وَفِي الصَّلَاةِ إِذَا جَاءَ وَقْتُ الْحَيْضِ فِي كُلِّ شَهْرٍ أَمْسَكَتْ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ»
[Machine] I said to Qatadah, "There was a woman whose menstrual period was known, but it increased by five days, or four days, or three days. He (Qatadah) said, 'She should pray.' I asked, 'What about two days?' He (Qatadah) said, 'That is part of her menstrual period.' And I asked Ibn Sireen, and he said, 'Women are more knowledgeable about that.'"
قُلْتُ لِقَتَادَةَ امْرَأَةٌ كَانَ حَيْضُهَا مَعْلُومًا فَزَادَتْ عَلَيْهِ خَمْسَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ قَالَ «تُصَلِّي» قُلْتُ يَوْمَيْنِ؟ قَالَ «ذَلكَ مِنْ حَيْضِهَا» وَسَأَلْتُ ابْنَ سِيرِينَ قَالَ النِّسَاءُ أَعْلَمُ بِذَلِكَ
[Machine] About women, you see blood during their pure days. He (meaning Hasan) said: "I see that she should wash herself and pray."
عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى الدَّمَ أَيَّامَ طُهْرِهَا قَالَ «أَرَى أَنْ تَغْتَسِلَ وَتُصَلِّيَ»
[Machine] Regarding women, you may see blood during her clean days. He said, "I believe she should take a bath and perform prayers."
عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي الْمَرْأَةِ تَرَى الدَّمَ فِي أَيَّامِ طُهْرِهَا قَالَ أَرَى أَنْ تَغْتَسِلَ وَتُصَلِّيَ
[Machine] About Ata, Sa'id, and 'Ikrimah, they said regarding the woman in a state of postnatal bleeding, "She performs ablution every day for the Fajr and 'Asr prayers and prays them. Then she performs ablution for Maghrib and Isha prayers and prays them. And she performs ablution for the morning prayer."
عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَسَعِيدٍ وَعِكْرِمَةَ قَالُوا فِي الْمُسْتَحَاضَةِ «تَغْتَسِلُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ لِصَلَاةِ الْأُولَى وَالْعَصْرِ فَتُصَلِّيهِمَا وَتَغْتَسِلُ لِلْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ فَتُصَلِّيهِمَا وَتَغْتَسِلُ لِصَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ»
[Machine] Regarding menstruating women, it is stated by Al-Hasan that "She should perform ablution (cleaning) from the time of Dhuhr prayer until the Dhuhr prayer of the next day."
عَنِ الْحَسَنِ فِي الْمُسْتَحَاضَةِ «تَغْتَسِلُ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ إِلَى صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ مِنَ الْغَدِ»
[Machine] Regarding Al-Hasan and Ata' similar to that.
عَنِ الْحَسَنِ وَعَطَاءٍ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ
[Machine] "About a person like him"
عَنْ عَطَاءٍ مِثْلَهُ
[Machine] About 'Ataa' like him
عَنْ عَطَاءٍ مِثْلَهُ
[Machine] Her husband covers her.
«يَغْشَاهَا زَوْجُهَا»
[Machine] In istihada, her husband can have sexual intercourse with her even if blood flows onto the mat.
فِي الْمُسْتَحَاضَةِ يَغْشَاهَا زَوْجُهَا وَإِنْ قَطَرَ الدَّمُ عَلَى الْحَصِيرِ
[Machine] "To cover his wife while she is menstruating."
أَنْ يَغْشَى الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ مُسْتَحَاضَةٌ»
[Machine] He said, "The minimum duration of menstruation is three days." Abd Allah Al-Dārimī was asked if he agrees with this, to which he replied, "Yes, if that's her usual habit." I also asked him about this, and he said, "The shortest duration of menstruation is one day and night, and the longest is fifteen days."
أَنَّهُ قَالَ «أَدْنَى الْحَيْضِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ» سُئِلَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الدَّارِمِيُّ تَأْخُذُ بِهَذَا؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا كَانَ عَادَتَهَا» وَسَأَلْتُهُ أَيْضًا عَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالَ «أَقَلُّ الْحَيْضِ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ وَأَكْثَرُهُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ»
[Machine] We don't see it menstruating.
لَا نَرَاهُ حَيْضًا
[Machine] "She is in the position of an adult woman who is menstruating, doing as a menstruating woman does."
«هِيَ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْمُسْتَحَاضَةِ تَفْعَلُ كَمَا تَفْعَلُ الْمُسْتَحَاضَةُ»
[Machine] Perform ablution, pray, and if divorced, observe the waiting period.
تَوَضَّأُ وَتُصَلِّي وَإِذَا طُلِّقَتْ تَعْتَدُّ بِالْأَشْهُرِ
[Machine] About his wife Fatima bint Muhammad, she was in the hut of Umrah. She said, "A woman from Quraysh sent to Umrah a camel with a piece of cotton in it, resembling a yellowish color, asking her, 'Do you see if a woman does not see anything of blood except for this, that she has become pure?' She said, 'No, not until she sees pure white.'"
عَنْ صَاحِبَتِهِ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَكَانَتْ فِي حِجْرِ عَمْرَةَ قَالَتْ أَرْسَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ إِلَى عَمْرَةَ بِكُرْسُفَةِ قُطْنٍ فِيهَا كَالصُّفْرَةِ تَسْأَلُهَا هَلْ تَرَى إِذَا لَمْ تَرَ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنَ الْحِيضَةِ إِلَّا هَذَا أَنْ قَدْ طَهُرَتْ؟ فَقَالَتْ «لَا حَتَّى تَرَى الْبَيَاضَ خَالِصًا»
[Machine] Al-Hasan used to consider neither yellow nor black, nor anything resembling a meat grinder as anything meaningful.
كَانَ الْحَسَنُ «لَا يَعُدُّ الصُّفْرَةَ وَالْكُدْرَةَ وَلَا مِثْلَ غُسَالَةِ اللَّحْمِ شَيْئًا»
[Machine] That person washes, purifies, and prays.
تِلْكَ التَّرِيَّةُ تَغْسِلُهُ وَتَوَضَّأُ وَتُصَلِّي
[Machine] About Ibrahim, he said: "If a woman wears clothing while she is menstruating, and blood touches it, she should wash it. Otherwise, it is not necessary for her to wash it. And if she sweats in it, it is permissible for her to sprinkle water on it."
عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ «فِيمَا تَلْبَسُ الْمَرْأَةُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ إِنْ أَصَابَهُ دَمٌ غَسَلَتْهُ وَإِلَّا فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا غَسْلُهُ وَإِنْ عَرِقَتْ فِيهِ فَإِنَّهُ يُجْزِئُهَا أَنْ تَنْضَحَهُ»
[Machine] The menstruating woman prays in the same clothes she menstruates in, except if any blood specifically touches the clothes, then she washes the spot where the blood is.
الْمَرْأَةُ «الْحَائِضُ تُصَلِّي فِي ثِيَابِهَا الَّتِي تَحِيضُ فِيهَا إِلَّا أَنْ يُصِيبَ شَيْئًا مِنْهَا دَمٌ فَتَغْسِلَ مَوْضِعَ الدَّمِ»
[Machine] Aisha used to see blood from menstruation on her garment, so she would open it with a stone or a stick or a horn, and then wash it.
كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ «تَرَى الشَّيْءَ مِنَ الْمَحِيضِ فِي ثَوْبِهَا فَتَحُتُّهُ بِالْحَجَرِ أَوْ بِالْعُودِ أَوْ بِالْقَرْنِ ثُمَّ تَرُشُّهُ»
[Machine] Concerning Ibrahim in the desert, he was sweating in his garment and said, "Neither does it harm him, nor does it wet him with water."
عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْجُنُبِ يَعْرَقُ فِي ثَوْبِهِ قَالَ «لَا يَضُرُّهُ وَلَا يَنْضَحُهُ بِالْمَاءِ»
[Machine] About Ibrahim, regarding menstruation, if she stains her clothes with sweat, then it is permissible for her to sprinkle water on it.
عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الْحَائِضِ إِذَا عَرِقَتْ فِي ثِيَابِهَا فَإِنَّهُ «يُجْزِئُهَا أَنْ تَنْضَحَهُ بِالْمَاءِ»
[Machine] Regarding Ibn Umar, he used to sweat while being in a state of janabah (major impurity), and then he would pray in the same clothing.
عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ كَانَ «يَعْرَقُ فِي الثَّوْبِ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي فِيهِ»
[Machine] Aisha was asked what is permissible for a man from his wife while she is menstruating. She said, "Anything above the waistcloth."
سُئِلَتْ عَائِشَةُ مَا يَحِلُّ لِلرَّجُلِ مِنَ امْرَأَتِهِ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ قَالَتْ «مَا فَوْقَ الْإِزَارِ»
[Machine] "The bed is one and the blankets are diverse, so if they cannot find a response from their own blanket."
«الْفِرَاشُ وَاحِدٌ وَاللُّحُفُ شَتَّى فَإِنْ كَانُوا لَا يَجِدُونَ رَدَّ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ لِحَافِهِ»
[Machine] "Be the servants of Ibn Umar who, while they are menstruating, wash his feet and give him the wine."
كُنَّ جَوَارِي ابْنِ عُمَرَ «يَغْسِلْنَ رِجْلَيْهِ وَهُنَّ حُيَّضٌ وَيُعْطِينَهُ الْخُمْرَةَ»
[Machine] "To make ablution is the duty of a menstruating woman who is sick."
أَنْ تُوَضِّئَ الْحَائِضُ الْمَرِيضَ»
[Machine] "If hunger overtakes him, she will wash her private parts and then come to him."
«إِنْ أَدْرَكَهُ الشَّبَقُ غَسَلَتْ فَرْجَهَا ثُمَّ أَتَاهَا»
[Machine] "That a woman asked Aisha: Does the woman pray in her Khidab? She said, 'She should shorten it and widen it.' Abu Muhammad said, 'Abu Sa'id, he is the son of Abu Al-Anbas, and the name of Abu Al-Anbas is Sa'eed bin Kathir bin 'Ubayd.'"
أَنَّ امْرَأَةً سَأَلَتْ عَائِشَةَ تُصَلِّي الْمَرْأَةُ فِي الْخِضَابِ قَالَتْ «اسْلُتِيهِ وَرَغْمًا» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ «أَبُو سَعِيدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي الْعَنَبْسِ وَاسْمُ أَبِي الْعَنَبْسِ سَعِيدُ بْنُ كَثِيرِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ»
[Machine] "He is donating one dinar."
«يَتَصَدَّقُ بِدِينَارٍ»
[Machine] From Abu Razin: "So approach them from where Allah has commanded you." [Al-Baqarah 222]. He said, "From the front of purity."
عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ {فَأْتُوهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ} [البقرة 222] قَالَ «مِنْ قِبَلِ الطُّهْرِ»
[Machine] From Mujahid, he said "By Allah, it means the opposite."
عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ {وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ} [الشعراء 166] قَالَ «هُوَ وَاللَّهِ الْقُبُلُ»
[Machine] I heard Al-Hasan saying, "The Jews used to make it difficult for the Muslims by saying, 'O companions of Muhammad, it is not permissible for you to have relations with your wives except from one position.' Then Allah revealed, 'Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish' [Quran 2:223]. Thus, Allah made a distinction between the believers and their needs."
سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ كَانَتِ الْيَهُودُ لَا تَأْلُو مَا شَدَّدَتْ عَلَى الْمُسْلِمِينَ كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ يَا أَصْحَابَ مُحَمَّدٍ إِنَّهُ وَاللَّهِ مَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ أَنْ تَأْتُوا نِسَاءَكُمْ إِلَّا مِنْ وَجْهٍ وَاحِدٍ قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ {نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ فَأْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ أَنَّى شِئْتُمْ} [البقرة 223] فَخَلَّى اللَّهُ بَيْنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَبَيْنَ حَاجَتِهِمْ
[Machine] "Whoever has sexual intercourse with his wife from behind, then he is like his wife from among men. Then recite (And they ask you about menstruation) [Al-Baqarah 2:222]. Say, it is a harm, so keep away from women during menstruation and do not approach them until they are pure. And when they have purified themselves, then come to them from where Allah has commanded you. Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves. Then recite (Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish) [Al-Baqarah 2:223], standing, sitting, facing or from behind in the vagina."
مَنْ أَتَى امْرَأَتَهُ فِي دُبُرِهَا فَهُوَ مِنَ الْمَرْأَةِ مِثْلُهُ مِنَ الرَّجُلِ ثُمَّ تَلَا {وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الْمَحِيضِ} [البقرة 222] قُلْ هُوَ أَذًى فَاعْتَزِلُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي الْمَحِيضِ وَلَا تَقْرَبُوهُنَّ حَتَّى يَطْهُرْنَ فَإِذَا تَطَهَّرْنَ فَأْتُوهُنَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَمَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَعْتَزِلُوهُنَّ فِي الْمَحِيضِ الْفَرْجَ ثُمَّ تَلَا {نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ فَأْتُوا حَرْثَكُمْ أَنَّى شِئْتُمْ} [البقرة 223] قَائِمَةً وَقَاعِدَةً وَمُقْبِلَةً وَمُدْبِرَةً فِي الْفَرْجِ
[Machine] Regarding cleanliness from janabah and menstruation, Ata and Al-Zuhri said, "Ghusl (full body wash) for both situations is the same."
عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَالزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَا «الْغُسْلُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ وَالْحَيْضِ وَاحِدٌ»
[Machine] Ibrahim, when his roots and extremities are afflicted, they do not break.
إِبْرَاهِيمُ «إِذَا بَلَّتْ أُصُولَهُ وَأَطْرَافَهُ لَمْ تَنْقُضْهُ»
