رُقَيْقَةُ بِنْتُ أَبِي صَيْفِيِّ بْنِ هَاشِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ

[Machine] Years passed by as Quraysh faced difficulties and hardships that weakened their bodies and exhausted their souls. While I lay there, consumed by worries and concerns, a phone call startled me with a loud voice. The caller shouted, "O people of Quraysh, indeed this is the appointed Prophet who has overshadowed you with his days, and his stars are evident. So, let him be embraced with respect and fertility. Look, a man among you, with strong bones and radiant white hair, soft cheeks, and a pleasant scent. Contemplate his attributes, and let him be approached by a man from each tribe. Then, let them touch him with water, perfume him, and circle around the corner. After that, let Abu Qubays be washed and the man be brought in, and let the people believe in him. You are free now, do as you wish. I woke up, trembling with fear, my skin covered in goosebumps, and my mind confused. I shortened my dream and fell asleep in the valleys of Makkah, by the forbidden Haram. No one remained there except the elderly and the women of Quraysh. They rushed towards him from every tribe, touching and circling around the corner. They ascended Abu Qubays and lined up around him. Their pace did not slow down until they reached the top of the mountain. There stood Abd al-Muttalib, and with him was the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , a young boy who was either alive or lifeless. He raised his hands and said, "O Allah, the Protector of companionship, and the Reliever of sorrow, You are the teacher of the untaught and the responsive without stint. These are Your servants, complaining to You about the hardships they face in Your sanctified areas. O Allah, remove their pain, the tiredness, and the hardships from them. O Allah, send upon us a sudden, heavy, and terrifying rain. By the Lord of the Ka'bah, they did not plan until the sky burst open with its water, and the valley overflowed with its streams. I heard two elders of Quraysh, Abdullah bin Jad'an, Harb bin Umayya, and Hisham bin Al-Mughirah saying to Abd al-Muttalib, "Congratulations to you, O Abu Al-Batha'. You have lived to see the people of Al-Batha' thrive." And in that is what Ruqayyah, the daughter of Abu Sufyan, said.

[Machine] When the Prophet ﷺ came seeking victory in Ta'if, I entered upon Ali and brought him a drink made from barley. He said, "O Ruqayyah, do not worship their tyrant nor offer prayers for her." She said, "Then they will kill me." He said, "If they say that to you, then say, 'My Lord is the Lord of this tyrant.' And when you see her, turn your back to her." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left my presence.

[Machine] That Rayyata, the sister of Abdullah al-Thaqafi, was under the care of Ibn Mas'ud. She was a woman who used to make and sell her own handicrafts. She said to Ibn Mas'ud, "You and your child have occupied me with expenses in the way of Allah, so I am unable to spend in the way of Allah." Ibn Mas'ud replied, "I do not wish for you to do that if you will not be rewarded for it. So I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, 'Spend on them, for you will be rewarded for what you spend on them.'"

[Machine] She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ talking about Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shammas al-Ansari's wife, that there was something between her and her husband, and there was a man who had a strong desire for her. So she went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and spoke to him. He sent for Thabit ibn Qays and they both spoke in his presence as Allah willed. Then, he accepted fidya (ransom) from her and she redeemed herself from him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded her to observe her waiting period (iddah).

[Machine] About her mother Ruzaynah, the slave woman of the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , reported that Hafsah, the mother of the believers, visited Aisha, the mother of the believers, one day. Sowdah entered upon them wearing a black cloak made of Yemeni fabric, and she had a veil with two dots resembling the lenses in its proper place from sabr and saffron. Alila said, "I saw women adorning themselves with such attire for their husbands." So Hafsah said to Aisha, "The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , enters upon us frequently, and he will see me with this adornment today, which might spoil her own beauty." Aisha said, "Fear Allah, O Hafsah." Sowdah said, "What are you saying?" and she had a difficulty in her hearing. Aisha said, "The blind person has gone out." Sowdah asked, "The blind person has gone out?" Aisha said, "Yes." Sowdah asked, "Where should I hide?" Aisha said, "Hide in the tent, they have tents made of palm leaves where they cook pots, and spider webs are woven in it." So she went and entered it. Then the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , entered while they were both laughing and unable to speak to him due to their laughter. He asked, "What is the laughter about?" They pointed with their hands towards the tent. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , entered the tent, and there was Sowdah trembling. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said to her, "What's wrong with you?" She said, "O Messenger of Allah, the blind person went out." He said, "He did not go out, and he will not go out again." Then he entered and took her hand, and he shook the dust off her and the spider webs.

[Machine] Shaybah bint Al-Aswad, the niece of my mother, told me that my grandmother, Rawdah, said to me, "I used to be a companion to a woman in the city. When the Prophet ﷺ migrated from Makkah to Madinah, my guardian, Rawdah, told me to stand at the door of our house and inform her when this man passes by." She continued, "So I stood and the Prophet ﷺ came with a group of his companions. I held onto a corner of his cloak and he smiled at me. Shaybah said, "I think he wiped his hand on my head." I asked my guardian, "O guardian, this is the man who has come." So my guardian and those who were with her in the house came out. Islam was presented to them, and they embraced Islam." Shaybah added, "Rawdah was with me in the house in Bani Sulaym. Whenever the neighbors purchased a slave, servant, garment, or food, they would say to her, 'O Rawdah, place your hand on it.' And everything she touched would be blessed."

So, we accepted and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Say 'yes' to what you are capable of doing." So, we said, "Yes" to what we were capable of doing. And I used to say what they said, and my mother used to say, "Say 'yes' twice."

[Machine] About the wudu' (ablution) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would perform ablution there. So, I went to her and asked her, and she brought a container to me. The container was about the length and a quarter of a handbreadth made of Hashimi fabric. She said, "I used to bring his ablution water in this." He would start by pouring water on his right hand, washing it three times before putting it in the container. Then he would rinse and sniff water three times, washing his face three times, washing his right hand three times, washing his left hand three times, then he would wipe his head both from the front and the back. Sufyan described how he wiped his head until he reached the beginning. This is the wording of the hadith of Ibn Abi 'Umar, and Ibn Abi 'Umar added in his hadith that Sufyan said, "And Ibn 'Ajlan informed me from Ibn 'Aqil who said, "Rabee'ah said, 'He then wiped his forehead and cheeks, then he returned them to their original position, then he extended them to his ears, then he wiped his ears, then he washed his feet."

Indeed, He is Praiseworthy, Glorious." And Umm Salamah and I were sitting, so Umm Salamah cried. He looked at her and said, "What makes you cry?". She replied, "O Messenger of Allah, you have treated them specially and left me and my daughter." He said, "You and your daughter are from the family of the household."
