He who found a stray article is himself led astray if he does not advertise it.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ آوَى ضَالَّةً فَهُوَ ضَالٌّ مَا لَمْ يُعَرِّفْهَا

This narration has an authentic chain of narrators, and it has not been included in Sahih Bukhari.

«لَقَدْ صَحِبْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ» صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ صحيح

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever gives medical treatment, with no prior knowledge of medicine, is responsible (for any harm done).’” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3466)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ تَطَبَّبَ وَلَمْ يُعْرَفْ مِنْهُ طِبٌّ فَهُوَ ضَامِنٌ»

[AI] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "Whoever shelters a stray, he is considered as a stray until he identifies it."
