[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "If there is a covenant between you and someone, do not untie the knot or tighten it until its time expires, or come to an agreement with them equally."
[Machine] He accompanied a group of polytheists and found them unaware, so he killed them and took their belongings. He brought them to the Prophet ﷺ, but the Prophet ﷺ refused to accept them.
50.99 [Machine] Betrayal
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner." (See Hadith No. 33 Vol. 1) (Using translation from Bukhārī 2459)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Surely, every betrayer will have a banner."
Ibn ‘Umar reported the Apostle of Allaah ﷺ as saying “A banner will be hoisted for a treacherous man on the Day of Judgment, it will then be announced. This is a treachery of so and so, son of so and so. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2756)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, the traitor will have a flag raised for him on the Day of Judgment when people are gathered from the past and the future." Then it will be said, "This is the treachery of so-and-so, son of so-and-so."
There will be a flag for every perfidious person on the Day of Judgment, and it would be said: Here is the perfidy of so and so. (Using translation from Muslim 1736a)

“Were it not for a word that I heard from 'Amr bin Hamiq Khuza'i, I would have separated the head of Al-Mukhtar from his body. I heard him saying: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If a man trusts someone with his life then he kills him, he will carry a banner of treachery on the day of Resurrection.'” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2688)

50.101 [Machine] Who killed a man from the people of the dhimma?
"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever kills a person from among Ahl Adh-Dhimmah, he will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, and its fragrance may be detected from a distance of forty years." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4750)
The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever kills a Mu'ahad with no justification, Allah will forbid Paradise to him and he will not even smell its fragrance." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4748)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever kills a person who has a treaty with him unjustly, he will not smell the fragrance of Paradise, and its fragrance can be found from a distance of five hundred years." Abu Abdur-Rahman said, "This is a mistake, and the correct hadith is the narration of Ibn Ulayyah, and Ibn Ulayyah is more reliable than Hammad bin Salamah. And Allah knows best, and Hammad bin Zaid is more reliable than Hammad bin Salamah."
50.102 [Machine] The Issue of the Emirate
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: 'Abdul al-Rahman b. Samurah, do not ask for the position of commander, for if you are given it after asking you will be left to discharge it yourself, but if you are given it without asking you will be helped to discharge it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 2929)
[Machine] Two men from the Ash'ari tribe came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and began presenting their actions. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, your brothers who seek help from me have not benefited from them in anything."
"You will become keen for positions of authority, but that will become a regret and loss. What a good life they will live, but how hard it will be for them when they die." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4211)
50.103 [Machine] What is detested of the government?
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him on a mission, and when he returned, he asked: "How did you find yourself?" He replied: "I continued until I thought that those with me were conspiring against me, and by Allah, I will never act upon two men as long as I am alive." Abu Abdur-Rahman Umayr ibn Ishaq said: "We do not know anyone who narrated from him except Ibn Awn and Nu'ayh al-Anzi, and we do not know anyone who narrated from him except al-Aswad ibn Qays."
50.104 [Machine] Who is most deserving of the leadership?
[Machine] I heard Abu Huraira say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a delegation and called them, and he would say to a man, "What do you have from the Qur'an, O so-and-so?" The man would say such and such, and he would recite it to them until he came to a man among them who was one of their youngest in age. He said, "What do you have, O so-and-so?" He said such and such and he had Surah Al-Baqarah. The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Do you have Surah Al-Baqarah?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Then go, for you are their leader." A man from their noble elite said, "By Allah, nothing prevented me from learning the Qur'an except fear that I would sleep and not perform it (i.e., not implement it)." So the Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Learn the Qur'an, recite it, and sleep, for the likeness of the Qur'an for whoever learned it and recited it and acted upon it, is like a bag full of musk, Its fragrance spreads in every direction. And the likeness of the one who learned it and slept while it was in his belly is like a bag of musk, tied up and placed in a (closed) place." Abu 'Abdul-Rahman Ishaq bin 'Abdul-Wahid said: I do not know him (i.e.,I do not know who this person is), and Abdullah bin 'Abdus-Samad narrated to us from Al-Mu'afa bin 'Imran in a narration other than that which we have mentioned, and we have only mentioned it to establish a connection between him (i.e.,Al-Mu'afa) and Mu'afa, and this narration was also narrated by other than 'Abdul-Hameed bin Ja'far, so he sent it (to Imam Ahmad). And the famous narration is that which is Mursal (i.e., without a companion).

A commander (of the Muslims) is a shield for them. They fight behind him and they are protected by (him from tyrants and aggressors). If he enjoins fear of God, the Exalted and Glorious, and dispenses justice, there will be a (great) reward for him; and if he enjoins otherwise, it redounds on him. She noticed that the people were distracted, so she rode on the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ camel and pledged to sacrifice it if Allah saved her. She arrived in the city and intended to sacrifice the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ camel, but she was prevented from doing so. This was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he said, "How bad is what she has done!" Then he said, "There is no vow for the son of Adam in what he does not own, and not in disobedience to Allah."

"We were with the Messenger of Allah in the year of Khaibar, and we did not get any spoils of war except for wealth, goods and clothes. Then a man from Banu Ad-Dubaib, who was called Rifa'ah bin Zaid, gave the Messenger of Allah a black slave who was called Mid'am. The Messenger of Allah set out for Wadi Al-Qura. When we were in Wadi Al-Qura, while Mid'am was unloading the luggage of the Messenger of Allah, an arrow came and killed him. The people said: 'Congratulations! You will go to Paradise,' but the Messenger of Allah said: 'No, by the One in Whose hand is my soul! The cloak that he took from the spoils of war on the Day of Khaibar is burning him with fire.' When the people heard that, a man brought one or two shoelaces to the Messenger of Allah and the Messenger of Allah said: 'One or two shoelaces of fire.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3827)

“Whenever he appointed a man to lead a military detachment, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would advise him especially to fear Allah and treat the Muslims with him well. He ﷺ said: ‘Fight in the Name of Allah and in the cause of Allah. Fight those how disbelieve in Allah. Fight but do not be treacherous, do not steal from the spoils of war, do not mutilate and do not kill children. When you meet your enemy from among the polytheists, call them to one of three things. Whichever of them they respond to, accept it from them and refrain from fighting them. Invite them to accept Islam, and if they respond then accept it from them and refrain from fighting them. Then invite them to leave their land and move to the land of the polytheists. Tell them that if they do that, then they will have the same rights and duties as the polytheists. If they refuse, then tell them that they will be like the Muslim Bedouins (who live in the desert), subject to the same rulings of Allah as the believers. But they will have no share of Fay’* or war spoils, unless they fight alongside the Muslims. If they refuse to enter Islam, then ask them to pay the Poll-tax. If they do that, then accept it from them and refrain from fighting them. But if they refuse, then seek the help of Allah against them and fight them. If you lay siege to them and they want you to give them the protection of Allah and your Prophet, do not give them the protection of Allah and your Prophet, rather give them your protection and the protection of your father and your Companions, for if you violate your protection and the protection of your fathers, that is easier than violating the protection of Allah and the protection of His Messenger. If you lay siege to them and they want you to let them come out with a promise of the judgement of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, do not offer them a promise of the judgement of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, rather offer them your judgement, because you do not know if you will actually pass (the same as) Allah’s judgement regarding them or not.’” Another chain reports a similar hadith. That ʿAmr bin ʿAuf, who was an ally of Bani 'Amir bin Luai and one of those who fought at Badr in the company of the Prophet ﷺ , said, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah to Bahrain to bring the Jizya taxation from its people, for Messenger of Allah ﷺ had made a peace treaty with the people of Bahrain and appointed Al-ʿAla' bin Al-Hadrami as their ruler. So, Abu 'Ubaida arrived with the money from Bahrain. When the Ansar heard of the arrival of Abu 'Ubaida (on the next day) they offered the morning prayer with the Prophet ﷺ and when the morning prayer had finished, they presented themselves before him. On seeing the Ansar, Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said, "I think you have heard that Abu 'Ubaida has brought something?" They replied, "Indeed, it is so, O Allah's Apostle!" He said, "Be happy, and hope for what will please you. By Allah, I am not afraid that you will be poor, but I fear that worldly wealth will be bestowed upon you as it was bestowed upon those who lived before you. So you will compete amongst yourselves for it, as they competed for it and it will destroy you as it did them." (Using translation from Bukhārī 4015)

Amr ibn Aws and AbulSha'tha' reported that Bujalah said: I was secretary to Jaz' ibn Mu'awiyah, the uncle of Ahnaf ibn Qays. A letter came to us from Umar one year before his death, saying: Kill every magician, separate the relatives of prohibited degrees from the Magians, and forbid them to murmur (before eating). So we killed three magicians in one day, and separated from a Magian husband his wife of a prohibited degree according to the Book of Allah. He prepared abundant food and called them, and placed the sword on his thigh. They ate (the food) but did not murmur. They threw (on the ground) one or two mule-loads of silver. Umar did not take jizyah from Magians until AbdurRahman ibn Awf witnessed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had taken jizyah from the Magians of Hajar. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 3043)

They complained to the Prophet ﷺ about that, saying that Abu Talib was inclined to their gods. The Prophet ﷺ asked his nephew, "What do you want from him?" He replied, "Uncle, I only want him to say a word by which the Arabs accept his faith and the non-Arabs pay tribute to him." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "And what is that word?" He replied, "There is no god but Allah." They said, "Do you make the gods into one God? Indeed, this is a strange thing," and then the people in the gathering dispersed.

They did not confirm anything in that regard except that they mentioned that when he would return from a journey, he would first go to the mosque and pray two units of prayer, then he would sit until those around him from the Muslims would come and greet him, and then he would go to his wives.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not come back from the journey but by day in the forenoon, and when he arrived, he went first to the mosque, and having prayed two rak'ahs in it he sat down in it. (Using translation from Muslim 716)
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ arrived early in the morning, and whenever he arrived from a journey, he would go to the mosque and pray two units of prayer. Then, he would sit and address the people briefly.
[Machine] The following passage translates to: "About the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , he said: When the Prophet, ﷺ , arrived in Medina, he entered the mosque and performed a shortened prayer." This is narrated by Amr ibn Yazid on the authority of Bahz ibn Asad, on the authority of Shu'bah, on the authority of Muharib ibn Dithar, who is a companion of the Prophet, ﷺ , narrating from Jabir."
50.119 [Machine] What does the Imam do when he wants to go to war?
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ rarely showed his face without somebody else's until the Battle of Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then stood up and made his intentions clear to the people, wanting them to prepare for their war expedition.
[Machine] Rarely did the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , participate in a battle without informing the people about it. Muhammad would not leave any battle without mentioning it, until the Battle of Tabuk. The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , then stood and made his intentions clear to the people, wanting them to prepare for their battle equipment.
