[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ commanded us to fast on Ashura before the fasting of Ramadan was prescribed. But when the fasting of Ramadan was prescribed, he did not command or forbid us from doing so, and we continued to fast on Ashura.

أَمَرَنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ نَصُومَ عَاشُورَاءَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ صِيَامُ رَمَضَانَ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ صِيَامُ رَمَضَانَ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ

Qais bin Sa'ad said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ enjoined Sadaqatul-Fitr upon is before (the command of) Zakat was revealed. He neither ordered us (to pay) nor forbade us (from paying it), so we did it.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 1828)

أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِصَدَقَةِ الْفِطْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْزِلَ الزَّكَاةُ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتِ الزَّكَاةُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهَا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to do it before the Zakat was revealed. Then he neither commanded nor forbade us, so we continue to do it.

أَمَرَنَا بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْزِلَ الزَّكَاةُ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا فَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to fast on the day of Ashura before the month of Ramadan began. However, when the month of Ramadan came, he did not command us or forbid us from fasting on that day, and we continued to observe it. He also instructed us to give Zakat al-Fitr, and when it became obligatory, he did not command us or forbid us from giving it, and we continued to give it.

أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِصَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ وَأَمَرَنَا بِزَكَاةِ الْفِطْرِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتِ الزَّكَاةُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to fast on Ashura before Ramadan arrived, but when Ramadan arrived, he did not order us or forbid us.

«أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِصِيَامِ عَاشُورَاءَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ رَمَضَانُ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ رَمَضَانُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا»

"The Messenger of Allah commanded us to give Sadaqatul Fitr before the command to give Zakah was revealed. When the command to give Zakah was revealed, he neither told us to do it, not told us not to do it, and we used to do it." (Sahih) Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasai) said: Abu 'Ammar's name is 'Arib bin Humaid, and 'Amr bin Shurabbil's Kunyah is Abu Maisarah, and Salamah bin Kuhail contradicted Al-Hakam in his chain, and Al-Hakam is more reliable than Salamah bin Kuhail. "عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ قَالَ: أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِصَوْمِ عَاشُوَرَاءَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ رَمَضَانُ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ رَمَضَانُ لَمْ يَأمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنا، وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ".

"عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا نَصُومُ عَاشُورَاءَ، وَنُعْطِى زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ عَلَيْنَا صَوْمُ رَمَضَانَ وَالزَّكَاةُ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ لَمْ يَأمُرْ بِهِ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْهُ، وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ".
