3. Book of Purification (6/12)
[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told them that Jibril came to him and prayed with him in two timings, except Maghrib. He said, 'He came to me and prayed with me when the sun had set, then he came to me the next day and prayed with me when the sun had set, he did not change it.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is Jibril (Gabriel), teaching you your religion." Then he mentioned the times of prayer, and he mentioned that he prayed Maghrib when the sun set. Then, when it came to him on the next day, he prayed Maghrib when the sun set at the same time, as a condition for Muslims.
[Machine] "I know that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the last evening prayer when the moon sets by three moments. Raqaba bin Masqala narrated from Abu Bishr, and Raqaba and Hushaym agreed on narrating this hadith from Abu Bishr through Habib bin Salim, and their chain of narration is authentic. However, Shu'ba and Abu Awanah disagreed with them and said that it was narrated from Abu Bishr through Bishr bin Thabit and then through Habib bin Salim, and this chain of narration is also authentic."
3.20 [Machine] As for the talk of Shu'bah
I am the one who is best informed of the time of this prayer, i.e. the night prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to offer it at the hour when the moon went down on its third night. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 419)
3.21 [Machine] As for the saying of Abu Awana
I am the one who is best informed of the time of this prayer, i.e. the night prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to offer it at the hour when the moon went down on its third night. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 419)
I would offer my noon prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and took a handful of gravels so that they might become cold in my hand and I placed them (before me) so that I may put my forehead on them at the time when I would prostrate. I did this due to the intensity of heat. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 399)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I not inform you about the prayer of the hypocrite? It is when he delays the Asr (afternoon) prayer until the sun becomes like the hump of a camel." This hadith was narrated by Muslim from the narration of Al-Ala' bin Abdul Rahman from Anas from the Prophet ﷺ who said, "This is the prayer of the hypocrite: he sits until the sun turns yellow."
[Machine] "The farthest two men in companionship of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were Abu Lubabah ibn Abd al-Mundhir and his family in Quba, and Abu Abs ibn Jabr with his residence in Bani Harithah. They used to pray the Asr prayer with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and then they would go to their people who had not yet prayed, in order to hasten the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with them."
[Machine] That the angel Gabriel came to the Prophet ﷺ to teach him the prayer, and he recited it word for word, like the hadith of Wahb bin Kaysan, equally for both "and as for the second witness." Authentic and well-known.
[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Gabriel visited me in Mecca twice." Then he mentioned the hadith in a similar manner, "Abdul Kareem, this is the son of Abu Al-Mukhariq, without a doubt, and I have only brought him as a witness." Abdul Kareem is present.
[Machine] That Jibril came to the Prophet ﷺ and prayed the prayers with him twice, except for the Maghrib prayer.
3.22 [Machine] As for the statement of Al-Thawri
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Command the children to pray at the age of seven and discipline them for it at the age of ten, and separate them in their beds." I heard Abu Al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub say, I heard Al-Abbas ibn Muhammad Al-Duri say, I heard Yahya ibn Ma'in say, Amr ibn Shuayb is trustworthy.
3.23 [Machine] And from the doors of the Adhan (Islamic call to prayer) and the Iqamah (second call to establish the prayer)
The words of adhan were pronounced from the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ twice in pairs (i.e. four times) each, and the words of iqamah were pronounced once in pairs (twice each), except that the phrase "The time for prayer has come" would be pronounced twice. When we heard iqamah, we would perform ablution, and go out for prayer. Shu'bah said: I did not hear AbuJa'far narrating any other tradition except this one. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 510)
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded Bilal to say the phrases of the Adhan twice and the phrases of the Iqamah once." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 627)
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered Bilal to give the call to prayer and perform the qiyam (night prayer). The two shaykhs did not mention this context, but it is correct according to their condition.
[Machine] He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: There are two things that are not rejected or rarely rejected: supplication when called upon, and supplication during a time of hardship when they are fighting against each other.
[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Prayer is answered as long as the caller does not rush."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me to say when the adhan for the sunset prayer was called; "O Allah, this is the time when Thy night comes on, Thy day retires, and the voices of Thy summoners are heard, so forgive me." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 530)
Messenger of Allah, appoint me the leader of the tribe in prayer. He said: You are their leader, but you should follow on who is the weakest of them: and appoint a mu'adhdhin who does not charge for the calling of adhan. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 531)
The extent of the shadow when the Messenger of Allah prayed (the noon prayer) was three to five feet in summer and five to seven feet in winter. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 400)
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me and what he taught me is this: Observe the five prayers regularly. He said: I told (him): I have many works at these times; so give me a comprehensive advice which, if I follow, should be enough for me. He said: Observe the two afternoon prayers (al-asrayn). But the term al-asrayn (two afternoon prayers) was not used in our language. Hence I said: What is al-asrayn? He said: A prayer before the sunrise and a prayer before the sunset (i.e. the dawn and the afternoon prayers). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 428)
3.24 [Machine] The Virtue of the Five Prayers
[Machine] "I heard Sa'd and some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'There were two brothers during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and one of them was better than the other. The one who was better passed away, and the other brother lived for forty more days before he also passed away. So they mentioned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the virtue of the first over the second. He said, 'Was the second one not praying?' They replied, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah, he was praying and there was no problem with his prayer.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'What do you think the value of his prayers reached? The example of prayer is like a river flowing at the gate of a man's house, and he immerses himself in it five times a day. So what do you think remains of his dirt?' You do not know how far his prayers reached."
[Machine] He heard Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri and Abu Hurairah reporting about the Prophet ﷺ that he sat on the pulpit and said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul..." three times, then he remained silent. Then, every man among us shed tears of sadness to the right of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Then he said, "There is no servant who performs the five daily prayers, fasts during Ramadan, and avoids the major sins except that the gates of Paradise will be opened for him on the Day of Judgment until it even claps. Then he recited, "If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise]." (Surah An-Nisa, 31)
"A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah, how many prayers has Allah enjoined upon His slaves?' He said: 'Allah has enjoined upon His slaves (five) prayers.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, is there anything before them or after them?' He said: 'Allah has enjoined upon His salves (five) prayers.' The man swore that he would not do anything more or less than that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If he is speaking the truth he will most certainly enter Paradise.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 459)
[Machine] His grandfather reported that he raised him to the Prophet ﷺ who said, "When your children reach the age of seven, separate their sleeping positions. And when they reach the age of ten, discipline them regarding prayer."
Messenger of Allah, appoint me the leader of the tribe in prayer. He said: You are their leader, but you should follow on who is the weakest of them: and appoint a mu'adhdhin who does not charge for the calling of adhan. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 531)
Bilal would call the Adhan, then he used come to wait. When he would see that the prophet ﷺ had come out (of his house), he would pronounce the iqama. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 537)
when the Iqamah was pronounced and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that they (the people) were small in number, he would sit down, nd would not pray; but when he saw them (the people) large in number, he would pray. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 545)
"I saw Bilal calling the Adhan, and turning, and his (face) was following here and there, and his (index) fingers were in his ears, and Messenger of Allah was in a small red tent" - "I think," he (one of the narrators) said, "it was made from a hide" - so Bilal went out in front of him with an Anazah which he planted (in the ground) at Batha. Messenger of Allah prayed facing it, and a dog and a donkey passed in front of him; he was wearing a red Hullah, and it is as if I am now looking at the radiance of his shins." Sufyan said: "We think that it was a Hibrah." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 197)
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ descend to Al-Abtah and mentioned the Hadith in its similar form: 'The two Shaykhs (Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim) agreed on the authenticity of the Hadith of Malik bin Mighwal and Umar bin Abi Zaidah from Awn bin Abu Juhaifah from his father, regarding his ﷺ descent to Al-Abtah. However, they did not mention in it the inserting of the finger into the ears and the turning in the ears, which is correct according to both of them (Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim), and it is two recommended Sunnahs.'"

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "Whoever says, when he hears the Mu'adhin (the caller to prayer), 'I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, without any partners, and that Muhammad is His slave and messenger, I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, Muhammad as His slave, and Islam as my religion, his sins will be forgiven.'" And we have narrated that "Aisha, the mother of the believers, used to make the call to prayer, establish prayer, and lead the women in prayer." Muslim argued with Al-Walid.

[Machine] We used to pray with the Prophet ﷺ during a journey or travel, and then a cloud overshadowed us and confused us in determining the direction of the qibla (direction of prayer). So, each of us prayed individually in a different direction. Then, each of us marked a spot in front of himself so that we could identify our positions. We mentioned this incident to the Prophet ﷺ, and he did not command us to repeat the prayers. He said, "Your prayers have been accepted."
