Allah helps one get closer to Him who attempts to get close to Him

from the Prophet ﷺ who narrated from his Lord, "If My slave comes nearer to me for a span, I go nearer to him for a cubit; and if he comes nearer to Me for a cubit, I go nearer to him for the span of outstretched arms; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.'"

البخاري:٧٥٣٦ – حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَيْدٍ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ الْهَرَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَبِّهِ قَالَ: «إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ الْعَبْدُ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَتَانِي مَشْيًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً۔»

Perhaps the Prophet ﷺ mentioned the following (as Allah's Saying): "If My slave comes nearer to Me for a span, I go nearer to him for a cubit; and if he comes nearer to Me for a cubit; I go nearer to him for the span of outstretched arms. (See Hadith No. 502)

ibnhibban:376 – al-Ḥasan b. Sufyān > Muḥammad b. al-Mutawakkil > al-Muʿtamir b. Sulaymān from my father > Anas b. Mālik > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said: 'When my servant comes closer to Me by a hand's span, I come closer to him by an arm's length. And when he comes closer to Me walking, I come closer to him running. And if he comes to Me running, I come to him hurrying.' And Allah is more generous in forgiving."

ابن حبّان:٣٧٦ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ * قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ
