the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah ﷻ says: 'I Am as my servant expects Me to be, and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they. And if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him. And if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go two outstretched arms nearer to him. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.'"

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِي فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ بِشِبْرٍ تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً۔»

I am near to the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him.

When My servant draws close to Me by the span of a palm, I draw close to him by the cubit and when he draws close to Me by the cubit, I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two armspans, and when he comes to me walking, I go in a hurry towards him.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ عَبْدِي مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا أَوْ بُوعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً

from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said, "Allah ﷻ said: 'I am as my servant expects of me and I am with him as he remembers me.'" ˹The Prophet further said,˺ "By Allah, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than what one of you would do on finding the lost camel in the waterless desert: ˹Allah said:˺ 'When he draws near Me by the span of his hand, I draw near him by the length of a cubit. And when he draws near Me by the length of a cubit, I draw near him by the length of a fathom. And when he draws near Me walking, I draw close to him running.'"

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي، وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَيْثُ يَذْكُرُنِي۔ وَاللَّهِ لَلَّهُ أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ يَجِدُ ضَالَّتَهُ بِالْفَلاَةِ۔ وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَقْبَلَ إِلَىَّ يَمْشِي أَقْبَلْتُ إِلَيْهِ أُهَرْوِلُ۔»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said: 'When my servant comes closer to Me by a hand's span, I come closer to him by an arm's length. And when he comes closer to Me walking, I come closer to him running. And if he comes to Me running, I come to him hurrying.' And Allah is more generous in forgiving."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ عَبْدِي مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي مَشْيًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً وَإِنْ هَرْوَلَ سَعَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَاللَّهُ أَوْسَعُ بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ»

the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: "Allah says, 'I am as My slave thinks I am, and I am with him when he mentions Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws to Me a hand-span length, I draw near to him a forearm's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him in a hurry." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3822)

the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah ﷻ says: 'I Am as my servant expects Me to be, and I am with him if He remembers Me. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللهُ تَعَالَى «أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حِينَ يَذْكُرُنِي فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلَأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلَأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً»

اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم إذا تقرب العبد من الله تبارك وتعالى شبرا تقرب الله منه ذراعا وإذا تقرب ذراعا تقرب الله منه باعا وإذا أقبل إِلَيَّ يمشي أقبلت إليه هرولة

"قَال اللهُ -تَعَالى-: إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ العَبْدُ شِبرا، تَقَربتُ إِلَيهِ ذرَاعًا، وإذَا تَقرب إِلَيّ ذرَاعًا، تَقَربتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وإِذَا أتَانِى مَشْيًا، أتَيتهُ هروَلَةً".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه: إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّى عَبْدِى شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّى ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَتَانِى مَاشِيًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه ﷻ: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِى بِى وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِى، فَإِنْ ذَكَرنِى فِى نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِى نَفْسِى، وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِى فِى مَلأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِى مَلأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِى يَمْشِى أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه -تَعَالَى-: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِى بِى وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حِينَ يَذْكُرُنِى -وَاللَّه- للَّه أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ يَجِدُ ضَالَّتَهُ بِالْفَلَاةِ، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلْيهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَى ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا، وإِذَا أَقْبَلَ إِلَىَّ يَمْشِى أَقْبَلتُ إِلَيْهِ أُهَرْوِلُ".
