the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah ﷻ says: 'I Am as my servant expects Me to be, and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they. And if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him. And if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go two outstretched arms nearer to him. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.'"

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِي فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ بِشِبْرٍ تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً۔»

I am near to the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him.

I live in the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him, as he remembers Me. from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said, "Allah ﷻ said: 'I am as my servant expects of me and I am with him as he remembers me.'" ˹The Prophet further said,˺ "By Allah, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than what one of you would do on finding the lost camel in the waterless desert: ˹Allah said:˺ 'When he draws near Me by the span of his hand, I draw near him by the length of a cubit. And when he draws near Me by the length of a cubit, I draw near him by the length of a fathom. And when he draws near Me walking, I draw close to him running.'"

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي، وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَيْثُ يَذْكُرُنِي۔ وَاللَّهِ لَلَّهُ أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ يَجِدُ ضَالَّتَهُ بِالْفَلاَةِ۔ وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَقْبَلَ إِلَىَّ يَمْشِي أَقْبَلْتُ إِلَيْهِ أُهَرْوِلُ۔»

“Allah, the Most High said: ‘I am as My slave thinks of Me, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me to himself, I remember him to Myself, and if he remembers Me in a gathering, I remember him in a gathering better than that. And if he seeks to draw nearer to Me by a hand span, I draw nearer to him by a forearm’s length, and if he comes to Me by a forearm’s length, I draw nearer to him by an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I come to him quickly.’”

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ and Humayd and Thabit al-Bunani and Salih ibn Zakwan, from al-Hasan, from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet ﷺ, in what he narrated from his Lord ﷻ, that He said: "Whoever mentions Me to himself, I mention him to Myself, and whoever mentions Me in a gathering of people, I mention him in a gathering greater than theirs and more pleasing."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَحُمَيْدٍ وَثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ وَصَالِحِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِيمَا يَحْكِي عَنْ رَبِّهِ ﷻ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَمَنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلَأٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلَأٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَطْيَبَ

[AI] From the Prophet, may ﷺ , in what he narrated from his Lord, may He be glorified, he said, "Whoever remembers me in himself, I remember him in myself, and whoever remembers me in a gathering of people, I remember him in a gathering greater and more noble than theirs."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah said, 'O son of Adam, remember Me in your heart, I will remember you in My heart. Remember Me in a gathering, I will remember you in a better gathering than that.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَالَ اللَّهُ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ اذْكُرْنِي فِي نَفْسِكَ أَذْكُرْكَ فِي نَفْسِي اذْكُرْنِي فِي مَلَأٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ أَذْكُرْكَ فِي مَلَأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ»

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ فِيمَا يَحْكِي عَنْ رَبِّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَالَ من ذكرني في نفسه ذكرته في نفسي وَمَنْ ذكرني في ملأ من الناس ذكرته في ملأ أكثر منهم وأطيب

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وتعالى أنا عند ظن عبدي بي وأنا معه إذا ذكرني إن تقرب مني شبرا تقربت منه ذراعا وإن تقرب مني ذراعا تقربت منه باعا وإن جاءني يمشي جئته هرولة

When My servant draws close to Me by the span of a palm, I draw close to him by the cubit and when he draws close to Me by the cubit, I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two armspans, and when he comes to me walking, I go in a hurry towards him. (Using translation from Muslim 2675e)

اللهُ ﷻ «إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ عَبْدِي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah the Exalted said: 'My servant does not mention Me to himself except that I mention him in a gathering of My angels, and he does not mention Me in a gathering except that I mention him in a higher gathering.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالَى لَا يَذْكُرُنِي عَبْدِي فِي نَفْسِهِ إِلَّا ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلَأٍ مِنْ مَلَائِكَتِي وَلَا يَذْكُرُنِي فِي مَلَأٍ إِلَّا ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي الرَّفِيقِ الْأَعْلَى

the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah ﷻ says: 'I Am as my servant expects Me to be, and I am with him if He remembers Me. "قَال اللهُ -تَعَالى-: لَا يَذْكُرُنِي عَبْدٌ فِي نَفْسِهِ إلا ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلإ مِنْ ملَائِكَتِي، وَلَا يَذْكُرُنِي فِي مَلأٍ إِلَّا ذَكرْتُهُ فِي الرَّفِيقِ الأَعْلَى".

"قَال اللهُ -تَعَالى-: مَنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسه ذَكَرْتُه في نَفْسِي، وَمَنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلإ مِنَ النَّاسِ ذَكَرْتُه في مَلإ أَكثَرَ مِنْهُم وَأَطْيَبَ".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه ﷻ: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِى بِى وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِى، فَإِنْ ذَكَرنِى فِى نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِى نَفْسِى، وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِى فِى مَلأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِى مَلأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِى يَمْشِى أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه -تَعَالَى-: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِى بِى وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حِينَ يَذْكُرُنِى -وَاللَّه- للَّه أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ يَجِدُ ضَالَّتَهُ بِالْفَلَاةِ، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلْيهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَى ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا، وإِذَا أَقْبَلَ إِلَىَّ يَمْشِى أَقْبَلتُ إِلَيْهِ أُهَرْوِلُ".
