the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah ﷻ says: 'I Am as my servant expects Me to be, and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they. And if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him. And if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go two outstretched arms nearer to him. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.'"

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِي فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ بِشِبْرٍ تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً۔»

I am near to the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him.

When My servant draws close to Me by the span of a palm, I draw close to him by the cubit and when he draws close to Me by the cubit, I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two armspans, and when he comes to me walking, I go in a hurry towards him.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ عَبْدِي مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا أَوْ بُوعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً

I live in the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him, as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in the assembly, better than he (does that), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him.

“Allah, the Most High said: ‘I am as My slave thinks of Me, and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me to himself, I remember him to Myself, and if he remembers Me in a gathering, I remember him in a gathering better than that. And if he seeks to draw nearer to Me by a hand span, I draw nearer to him by a forearm’s length, and if he comes to Me by a forearm’s length, I draw nearer to him by an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I come to him quickly.’”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ ﷻ أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حِينَ يَذْكُرُنِي فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلإٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلإٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنِ اقْتَرَبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا اقْتَرَبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنِ اقْتَرَبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا اقْتَرَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً

the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: "Allah says, 'I am as My slave thinks I am, and I am with him when he mentions Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. When My servant draws close to me by the span of a palm, I draw close to him by the space of a cubit, and when he draws close to Me by the space of a cubit, I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two hands, and when he draws close to Me by the space (covered by) two hands, I go in hurry towards him. [AI] "When my servant comes to Me walking, I come to him running. And when he comes to Me with an arm's length, I come to him with a fathom's length. And when he comes to Me walking, I come to him hastening."

اللهُ ﷻ إِذَا جَاءَنِي عَبْدِي شِبْرًا جِئْتُهُ بِذِرَاعٍ وَإِذَا جَاءَنِي بِذِرَاعٍ جِئْتُهُ بِبَاعٍ وَإِذَا جَاءَنِي يَمْشِي جِئْتُهُ أُهَرْوِلُ

from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said, "Allah ﷻ said: 'I am as my servant expects of me and I am with him as he remembers me.'" ˹The Prophet further said,˺ "By Allah, Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than what one of you would do on finding the lost camel in the waterless desert: ˹Allah said:˺ 'When he draws near Me by the span of his hand, I draw near him by the length of a cubit. And when he draws near Me by the length of a cubit, I draw near him by the length of a fathom. And when he draws near Me walking, I draw close to him running.'" (Using translation from Muslim 2675h)

And if you draw near to Me a hand's span, I will draw near to you an arm's length; and if you draw near to Me an arm's length, I will draw near to you a fathom's length. And if you come to Me walking, I will come to you running.' " Qatadah said: "And Allah is swifter in forgiveness."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ اللهُ يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنْ ذَكَرْتَنِي فِي نَفْسِكَ ذَكَرْتُكَ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرْتَنِي فِي مَلَإٍ ذَكَرْتُكَ فِي مَلَإٍ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ أَوْ فِي مَلَإٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ دَنَوْتَ مِنِّي شِبْرًا دَنَوْتُ مِنْكَ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ دَنَوْتَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا دَنَوْتُ مِنْكَ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَيْتَنِي تَمْشِي أَتَيْتُكَ أُهَرْوِلُ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ فَاللهُ ﷻ أَسْرَعُ بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ

When My servant draws close to Me by the span of a palm, I draw close to him by the cubit and when he draws close to Me by the cubit, I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two armspans, and when he comes to me walking, I go in a hurry towards him. (Using translation from Muslim 2675e)

[AI] Narrated by the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , from his Lord, He said, "Your Lord says: When My servant comes to Me walking, I go to him running. When he comes to Me with a span, I approach him with an arm's length. And when he comes to Me walking, I meet him trotting."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَبِّهِ ﷻ قَالَ يَقُولُ رَبُّكُمْ إِذَا تَلَقَّانِي عَبْدِي شِبْرًا تَلَقَّيْتُهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَلَقَّانِي ذِرَاعًا تَلَقَّيْتُهُ بَاعًا وَإِذَا تَلَقَّانِي يَمْشِي تَلَقَّيْتُهُ أُهَرْوِلُ

I heard a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ say that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah Almighty said: O son of Adam, stand for Me, and I will walk to you. Walk to Me, and I will come running to you."

سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: «قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالَى: يَا ابْنَ آدَمَ، قُمْ إِلَيَّ، أَمْشِ إِلَيْكَ، وَامْشِ إِلَيَّ، أُهَرْوِلْ إِلَيْكَ.»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah, Exalted and Glorious, says: "O son of Adam, if you come to Me with an earthful of sins and meet Me without associating anything with Me in worship, I will certainly grant you as much forgiveness."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ ﷻ ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنْ دَنَوْتَ مِنِّي شِبْرًا دَنَوْتُ مِنْكَ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ دَنَوْتَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا دَنَوْتُ مِنْكَ بَاعًا ابْنَ آدَمَ إِنْ حَدَّثْتَ نَفْسَكَ بِحَسَنَةٍ فَلَمْ تَعْمَلْهَا كَتَبْتُهَا لَكَ حَسَنَةً وَإِنْ عَمِلْتَهَا كَتَبْتُهَا لَكَ عَشْرًا وَإِنْ هَمَمْتَ بِسَيِّئَةٍ فَحَجَزَكَ عَنْهَا هَيْبَتِي كَتَبْتُهَا لَكَ حَسَنَةً وَإِنْ عَمِلْتَهَا كَتَبْتُهَا سَيِّئَةً وَاحِدَةً

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said: 'When my servant comes closer to Me by a hand's span, I come closer to him by an arm's length. And when he comes closer to Me walking, I come closer to him running. And if he comes to Me running, I come to him hurrying.' And Allah is more generous in forgiving."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ عَبْدِي مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي مَشْيًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً وَإِنْ هَرْوَلَ سَعَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَاللَّهُ أَوْسَعُ بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ»

the Messenger of Allah (saas) said: "Allah says, 'I am as My slave thinks I am, and I am with him when he mentions Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws to Me a hand-span length, I draw near to him a forearm's length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him in a hurry." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3822)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حَيْثُ يَذْكُرُنِي إِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلَأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلَأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً»

/وَقال رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إذا تقرب العبد من الله تبارك وتعالى شبرا تقرب الله منه ذراعا وإذا تقرب ذراعا تقرب الله منه باعا وإذا أقبل إِلَيَّ يمشي أقبلت إليه هرولة

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قال الله عز وجل أنا عند ظن عبدي بي وأنا معه إذا ذكرني فإن ذكرني في نفسه ذكرته في نفسي وإن ذكرني في ملأ ذكرته في ملأ خير منهم

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وتعالى أنا عند ظن عبدي بي وأنا معه إذا ذكرني إن تقرب مني شبرا تقربت منه ذراعا وإن تقرب مني ذراعا تقربت منه باعا وإن جاءني يمشي جئته هرولة

the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah ﷻ says: 'I Am as my servant expects Me to be, and I am with him if He remembers Me. If he remembers Me in himself, I too, remember him in Myself; and if he remembers Me in a group of people, I remember him in a group that is better than they. And if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him. And if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go two outstretched arms nearer to him. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.'" (Using translation from Bukhārī 7405)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللهُ تَعَالَى «أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حِينَ يَذْكُرُنِي فَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلَأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلَأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً»

"قَال اللهُ -تَعَالى-: إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ العَبْدُ شِبرا، تَقَربتُ إِلَيهِ ذرَاعًا، وإذَا تَقرب إِلَيّ ذرَاعًا، تَقَربتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وإِذَا أتَانِى مَشْيًا، أتَيتهُ هروَلَةً".

"قَال اللهُ -تَعَالى-: يَابْنَ آدَمَ قُمْ إِلَيَّ أَمْشِ إِلَيكَ وَامْشِ إِلَيَّ أُهَرْولْ إِلَيكَ".

"قَال اللهُ -تَعَالى-: "يَا بْنَ آدَمَ إِنْ ذَكَرْتَنِي في نَفْسِكَ ذَكَرْتُك فِي نَفْسِي، وَإنْ ذَكَرْتَنِي فِي مَلإ ذَكرْتُكَ فِي مَلإ خَيرٍ مِنْهُم, وَإنْ دَنَوتَ مِنِّي شِبْرًا دَنَوتُ مِنْكَ ذِرَاعًا، وَإنْ دَنَوتَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا دَنَوتُ مِنْكَ بَاعًا، وَإِنْ أَتَيتَني تَمْشِي أَتَيتُكَ أُهَرْولُ".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه: ابْن آدَمَ: إِنْ ذَكَرْتَنِى فِى نَفْسِكَ ذَكَرْتُكَ فِى نَفْسِى، وَإِنْ ذَكَرْتَنِى فِى مَلإٍ ذَكَرْتُكَ فِى مَلإٍ أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَكْرَمَ، وَإِنْ دَنَوْتَ مِنِّى شِبْرًا دَنَوْتُ مِنْكَ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِنْ دَنَوْتَ مِنِّى ذِرَاعًا دَنَوْتُ مِنْكَ بَاعًا، وَإِنْ مَشَيَت إِلىَّ هَرْوَلْتُ إِلَيْكَ".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه: إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّى عَبْدِى شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّى ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَتَانِى مَاشِيًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه ﷻ: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِى بِى وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِى، فَإِنْ ذَكَرنِى فِى نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِى نَفْسِى، وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِى فِى مَلأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِى مَلأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِى يَمْشِى أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه -تَعَالَى-: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِى بِى وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حِينَ يَذْكُرُنِى -وَاللَّه- للَّه أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ عَبْدِهِ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ يَجِدُ ضَالَّتَهُ بِالْفَلَاةِ، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلْيهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَى ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا، وإِذَا أَقْبَلَ إِلَىَّ يَمْشِى أَقْبَلتُ إِلَيْهِ أُهَرْوِلُ".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه ﷻ: (ابْنَ آدَمَ: قُمْ إِلَىَّ أَمْشِ إِلَيْكَ، امْشِ إِلىَّ أُهَرْوِلْ إِلَيْكَ) ابْنَ آدَمَ: إِنْ دَنَوْتَ مِنِّى شِبْرًا دَنَوْتُ مِنْكَ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِنْ دَنَوْتَ مِنِّى ذِرَاعًا دَنَوْتُ مِنْكَ بَاعًا، ابْنَ آدَمَ: إِنَّ حَدَّثْتَ نَفْسَكَ بِحَسَنَةٍ فَلَمْ تَعْمَلهَا كتَبْتُهَا لَكَ حَسَنَةً، وَإِنْ عَمِلتَهَا كَتَبْتُهَا لَكَ عَشْرًا، وَإِنْ هَمَمْتَ بِسَيِّئَةٍ فَحَجَزَكَ عَنْهَا هَيْبَتِى كَتَبْتُهَا لَكَ حَسنَةً، فَإِنْ عَمِلتَهَا كَتَبْتُهَا سَيِّئَةً وَاحِدَةً".
