from the Prophet ﷺ who narrated from his Lord, "If My slave comes nearer to me for a span, I go nearer to him for a cubit; and if he comes nearer to Me for a cubit, I go nearer to him for the span of outstretched arms; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ رَبِّهِ قَالَ: «إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ الْعَبْدُ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَتَانِي مَشْيًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً۔»

I am near to the thought of My servant as he thinks about Me, and I am with him as he remembers Me. And if he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My Heart, and if he remembers Me in assembly I remember him in assembly, better than his (remembrance), and if he draws near Me by the span of a palm, I draw near him by the cubit, and if he draws near Me by the cubit I draw near him by the space (covered by) two hands. And if he walks towards Me, I rush towards him.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ ﷻ أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِي بِي وَأَنَا مَعَهُ حِينَ يَذْكُرُنِي إِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي نَفْسِي وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِي فِي مَلإٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِي مَلإٍ هُمْ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُمْ وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً

When My servant draws close to Me by the span of a palm, I draw close to him by the cubit and when he draws close to Me by the cubit, I draw close to him by the space (covered) by two armspans, and when he comes to me walking, I go in a hurry towards him.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ عَبْدِي مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا أَوْ بُوعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً

[AI] Yahya and perhaps the Prophet ﷺ mentioned that he said, "The servant does not approach me by a hand span except that I approach him by an arm's length. And the servant does not approach me by an arm's length except that I approach him by a fathom or two."

يَحْيَى وَرُبَّمَا ذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَتَقَرَّبُ الْعَبْدُ إِلَيَّ شِبْرًا إِلَّا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَلَا يَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيَّ ذِرَاعًا إِلَّا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا أَوْ بُوعًا

[AI] I heard Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari while he was on the pulpit in Al-Fustat saying, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, 'Whoever comes close to Allah by a handspan, Allah will come close to him by an arm's length. And whoever comes close to Allah by an arm's length, Allah will come close to him by a fathom. And whoever comes towards Allah walking, Allah will come towards him running.' By Allah, He is the highest and the greatest. By Allah, He is the highest and the greatest. By Allah, He is the highest and the greatest."

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيَّ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَى اللهِ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَى اللهِ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَمَنْ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى اللهِ مَاشِيًا أَقْبَلَ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ مُهَرْوِلًا وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said: 'When my servant comes closer to Me by a hand's span, I come closer to him by an arm's length. And when he comes closer to Me walking, I come closer to him running. And if he comes to Me running, I come to him hurrying.' And Allah is more generous in forgiving."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ عَبْدِي مِنِّي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّي ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي مَشْيًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً وَإِنْ هَرْوَلَ سَعَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَاللَّهُ أَوْسَعُ بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ»

قَالَ اللَّهُ إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ عَبْدِي شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِذَا أَتَانِي يَمْشِي أَتَيْتُهُ أُهَرْوِلُ

/وَقال رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إذا تقرب العبد من الله تبارك وتعالى شبرا تقرب الله منه ذراعا وإذا تقرب ذراعا تقرب الله منه باعا وإذا أقبل إِلَيَّ يمشي أقبلت إليه هرولة

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرًّ الْغِفَارِيَّ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَى اللهِ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبَ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَمَنْ أَقْبَلَ إِلَى اللهِ ﷻ مَاشِيًا أَقْبَلَ اللهُ ﷻ إِلَيْهِ مُهَرْوِلًا وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ»

"قَال اللهُ -تَعَالى-: إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيَّ العَبْدُ شِبرا، تَقَربتُ إِلَيهِ ذرَاعًا، وإذَا تَقرب إِلَيّ ذرَاعًا، تَقَربتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا وإِذَا أتَانِى مَشْيًا، أتَيتهُ هروَلَةً".

" مَنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَى اللهِ شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَيهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَمَنْ تَقَرَّبَ (إِلَى اللهِ) ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبَ - (اللهُ) إِلَيهِ بَاعًا، وَمَن أَقْبَلَ إِلَى اللهِ مَاشِيًا أَقْبَلَ اللهُ إِلَيهِ مُهَرْولًا، وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ، وَاللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ، وَالله أَعْلَى وَأَجَلُّ".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه: إِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّى عَبْدِى شِبْرًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِذَا تَقَرَّبَ مِنِّى ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ مِنْهُ بَاعًا، وَإِذَا أَتَانِى مَاشِيًا أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً".

"يَقُولُ اللَّه ﷻ: أَنَا عِنْدَ ظَنِّ عَبْدِى بِى وَأَنَا مَعَهُ إِذَا ذَكَرَنِى، فَإِنْ ذَكَرنِى فِى نَفْسِهِ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِى نَفْسِى، وَإِنْ ذَكَرَنِى فِى مَلأٍ ذَكَرْتُهُ فِى مَلأٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْهُمْ، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ شِبْرًا، تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ ذِرَاعًا، وَإِنْ تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ ذِرَاعًا تَقَرَّبْتُ إِلَيْهِ بَاعًا وَإِنْ أَتَانِى يَمْشِى أَتَيْتُهُ هَرْوَلَةً".
