Um-Sulaim came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Verily, Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to take a bath after she has a wet dream (nocturnal sexual discharge?) The Prophet replied, "Yes, if she notices a discharge." Um Salama, then covered her face and asked, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Does a woman get a discharge?" He replied, "Yes, let your right hand be in dust (An Arabic expression you say to a person when you contradict his statement meaning "you will not achieve goodness"), and that is why the son resembles his mother."

جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ فَهَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فَغَطَّتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ تَعْنِي وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَتَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ قَالَ نَعَمْ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ فَبِمَ يُشْبِهُهَا وَلَدُهَا

(the mother of the believers) Um Sulaim, the wife of Abu Talha, came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Verily Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to take a bath after she has a wet dream (nocturnal sexual discharge)?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes, if she notices a discharge."

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ

Um Salama said, "Um Sulaim said, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Allah does not refrain from saying the truth! Is it obligatory for a woman to take a bath after she gets nocturnal discharge?' He said, 'Yes, if she notices the water (i.e. discharge).' Um Salama smiled and said, 'Does a woman get discharge?' Allah's Apostle said. 'Then why does a child resemble (its mother)?"

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ فَهَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ الْغُسْلُ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فَضَحِكَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَتْ تَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَبِمَا يُشْبِهُ الْوَلَدُ

Um Sulaim said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Verily Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth. Is it essential for a woman to take a bath after she had a wet dream (nocturnal sexual discharge)?" He said, "Yes, if she notices discharge. On that Um Salama laughed and said, "Does a woman get a (nocturnal sexual) discharge?" He said, "How then does (her) son resemble her (his mother)?"

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ غُسْلٌ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فَضَحِكَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَتْ أَتَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَبِمَ شَبَهُ الْوَلَدِ

Um Sulaim came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Verily, Allah does not feel shy to tell the truth. If a woman gets a nocturnal sexual discharge (has a wet dream), is it essential for her to take a bath? He replied, "Yes if she notices a discharge."

جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ فَهَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ غُسْلٌ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ

Umm Sulaim went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Apostle of Allah, Allah is not ashamed of the truth. Is bathing necessary for a woman when she has a sexual dream? Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Yes, when she sees the liquid (vaginal secretion). Umm Salama said: Messenger of Allah, does a woman have sexual dream? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Let your hand be covered with dust, in what way does her child resemble her?

جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ فَهَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَتَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ فَقَالَ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكِ فَبِمَ يُشْبِهُهَا وَلَدُهَا

Umm Sulaim, the mother of Bani Abu Talha, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and a hadith (like that) narrated by Hisham was narrated but for these words. A'isha said: I expressed disapproval to her, saying: Does a woman see a sexual dream?

أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ أُمَّ بَنِي أَبِي طَلْحَةَ دَخَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ هِشَامٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِيهِ قَالَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا أُفٍّ لَكِ أَتَرَى الْمَرْأَةُ ذَلِكِ

Messenger of Allah. Allah is not ashamed of truth what do you think, if a woman sees what a man sees in dream, should she take a bath or not? The prophet ﷺ replied: Yes, she should take a bath if she finds the liquid (vaginal secretion) ‘A’ishah said : Then I came upon her and said her : Woe to you! Does a woman see that (sexual dream)? In the meantime, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came upon me and said: May your right hand be covered with dust! How can there be the resemblance (i.e., between the child and the mother)? Abu Dawud said: A similar version has been narrated by Zubaid, ‘Uqail, Yunus, cousin of Al-Zuhri, Ibn Abi-Wazir, on the authority of al-Zuhr, musan, al-Hajabi, like al-Zuhri, narrated on the authority of ‘Urwah from ‘A’ishah, but Hisham b. ‘Urwah narrated from ‘Urwah on the authority of Zainab daughter of Abu Salamah from Umm Salamah saying. Umm Sulaim came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ أَرَأَيْتَ الْمَرْأَةَ إِذَا رَأَتْ فِي النَّوْمِ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ أَتَغْتَسِلُ أَمْ لاَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ نَعَمْ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ إِذَا وَجَدَتِ الْمَاءَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَأَقْبَلْتُ عَلَيْهَا فَقُلْتُ أُفٍّ لَكِ وَهَلْ تَرَى ذَلِكَ الْمَرْأَةُ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ يَا عَائِشَةُ وَمِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ

Umm Sulaim bint Milhan came to the Prophet and she said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Indeed Allah is not embarrassed of the truth. So is it required of a woman - meaning Ghusl - when she sees in her sleep similar to what a man sees?' He replied: 'Yes. When she finds water (wetness), then she is perform Ghusl.'" Umm Salamah said: "I said to her: 'O Umm SuIaim! You have disgraced the women!'"

جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ بِنْتُ مِلْحَانَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ فَهَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ تَعْنِي غُسْلاً إِذَا هِيَ رَأَتْ فِي الْمَنَامِ مِثْلَ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا هِيَ رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ قُلْتُ لَهَا فَضَحْتِ النِّسَاءَ يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ

"O Messenger of Allah! Allah is not shy to tell the truth. Inform me: if a women sees in a dream what men see should she perform Ghusl from that?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: "Yes." 'Aishah said: "I expressed my displeasure and said: 'Does a woman see that?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to me and said: 'May your right hand be covered with dust! How else would (her child) resemble her?'"

أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ كَلَّمَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَعَائِشَةُ جَالِسَةٌ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ أَرَأَيْتَ الْمَرْأَةَ تَرَى فِي النَّوْمِ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ أَفَتَغْتَسِلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا أُفٍّ لَكِ أَوَتَرَى الْمَرْأَةُ ذَلِكِ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ فَمِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ

"O Messenger of Allah, Allah is not shy to tell the truth. Does a women have to perform Ghusl if she has a wet dream?" He said: "Yes, if she sees water."[1] Umm Salamah laughed and said: "Do women really have wet dreams?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "How else would her child resemble her?" [1] That is, if she has an emission of the fluid of an orgasm.

يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ غُسْلٌ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فَضَحِكَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَتْ أَتَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَفِيمَ يُشْبِهُهَا الْوَلَدُ

"O Messenger of Allah! Allah is not shy to tell the truth. Inform me: if a women sees in a dream what men see should she perform Ghusl from that?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: "Yes." 'Aishah said: "I expressed my displeasure and said: 'Does a woman see that?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to me and said: 'May your right hand be covered with dust! عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ أُمَّ بَنِي أَبِي طَلْحَةَ دَخَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهِ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ أَرَأَيْتَ الْمَرْأَةَ تَرَى فِي النَّوْمِ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ أَتَغْتَسِلُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ أُفٍّ لَكِ أَتَرَى الْمَرْأَةُ ذَلِكَ؟ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ فَمِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ»

Um Sulaim said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Verily Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth. Is it essential for a woman to take a bath after she had a wet dream (nocturnal sexual discharge)?" He said, "Yes, if she notices discharge. On that Um Salama laughed and said, "Does a woman get a (nocturnal sexual) discharge?" He said, "How then does (her) son resemble her (his mother)?" (Using translation from Bukhārī 6091)

قَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فَضَحِكَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ أَتَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَبِمَ يُشْبِهُ الْوَلَدُ؟

[AI] Um Sulaim asked the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, is there a requirement for a woman to perform ghusl (ritual bath) if she experiences nocturnal emission?" He replied, "Yes, if she sees water."

أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ غُسْلٌ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ

[AI] I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the house of Umm Salamah, and she said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you think that women see in their dreams what men see?" Umm Salamah said, "By Allah, I revealed the matter to women," and she said, "Indeed, Allah ﷻ is not shy of the truth." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever sees that of you, let her perform Ghusl."

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَكَ الْمَرْأَةَ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ؟ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ فَضَحْتِ النِّسَاءَ قَالَتْ إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ لَا يَسْتَحِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَنْ رَأَىذَلِكَ مِنْكُنَّ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Urwa ibn az- Zubayr that Umm Sulayman said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ "Should a woman do ghusl when she experiences the same as a man in her sleep?" The Messenger of Al lah said to her, "Yes, she should do ghusl. "A'isha said to her, "Shame on you! Does a woman see that?" (i.e. a liquid.) The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "May your right hand be full of dust. From where does family resemblance come?"

قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْمَرْأَةُ تَرَى فِي الْمَنَامِ مِثْلَ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ أَتَغْتَسِلُ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ فَقَالَتْ لَهَا عَائِشَةُ أُفٍّ لَكِ وَهَلْ تَرَى ذَلِكَ الْمَرْأَةُ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ وَمِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father from Zaynab bint Abi Salama that Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ said, "Umm Salama, the wife of Abu Talha al-Ansari, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'Messenger of Allah! Allah is not ashamed of the truth-does a woman have to do ghusl if she has had an erotic dream?' He said, 'Yes, if she sees any liquid.' "

عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ

[AI] Narrated to us al-Qa'nabi from Malik from Hisham ibn 'Urwah from his father from Zainab bint Umm Salamah from Umm Salamah. She said, Umm Sulaym, the wife of Abu Talhah, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, Allah is not ashamed of the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to perform ghusl (ritual bathing) if she has a wet dream?" He ﷺ replied, "Yes, if she sees the fluid.

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ غُسْلٌ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ»

[AI] From the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , Umm Sulaim, who is the mother of Anas ibn Malik, she said: "O Messenger of Allah, surely Allah is not shy of the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to perform ghusl (ritual bath) if she sees water in her sleep, just like a man does?". The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes, she should perform ghusl." Then the Prophet's wife ﷺ came to Umm Sulaim and said, "Shame on you! Do you really experience that?" Umm Sulaim replied. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and said, "Extend your right hand, from where would the resemblance come?"

عَنْ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةَ وَهِيَ أُمُّ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ فِي النَّوْمِ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ أَتَغْتَسِلُ أَمْ لَا؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «تَغْتَسِلُ» فَقَالَتْ زَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَقْبَلْتُ عَلَيْهَا فَقُلْتُ أُفٍّ لَكِ وَهَلْ تَرَى ذَلِكَ الْمَرْأَةُ؟ قَالَتْ فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقَالَ « تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ فَمِنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ؟ »

(the mother of the believers) Um Sulaim, the wife of Abu Talha, came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Verily Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to take a bath after she has a wet dream (nocturnal sexual discharge)?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes, if she notices a discharge." أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ»

[AI] A woman entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the house of Umm Salamah. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, what do you think about a woman who sees in her dream what a man sees?" Umm Salamah interjected, saying, "Shame on you! You have exposed women!" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah is not shy of the truth." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If any of you sees such a dream, she should perform Ghusl (a ritual bath)."

دَخَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ الْمَرْأَةَ تَرَى فِي مَنَامِهَا مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ تَبًّا لَكِ فَضَحْتِ النِّسَاءَ قَالَتْ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَسْتَحِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ رَأَى ذَلِكَ مِنْكُنَّ فَلْتَغْتَسِلْ»

[AI] Umm Sulaim entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, does a woman have to perform Ghusl (ritual bath) if she experiences a wet dream?" He said, "Yes, if she sees the discharge."

دَخَلَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ غُسْلٌ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ»

[AI] Um Sulaim entered upon the Messenger of Allah and said, "O Messenger of Allah, is it obligatory for a woman to perform ghusl (ritual bathing) if she experiences nocturnal emission?" He replied, "Yes, if she sees the water."

دَخَلَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ؟ فَقَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ»

Um Salama said, "Um Sulaim said, 'O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Allah does not refrain from saying the truth! Is it obligatory for a woman to take a bath after she gets nocturnal discharge?' He said, 'Yes, if she notices the water (i.e. discharge).' Um Salama smiled and said, 'Does a woman get discharge?' Allah's Apostle said. 'Then why does a child resemble (its mother)?" يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ غُسْلٌ إِذَا احْتَلَمَتْ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ» فَضَحِكَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ وَقَالَتْ أَتَحْتَلِمُ الْمَرْأَةُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَبِمَ يُشْبِهُ الْوَلَدُ؟»

"O Messenger of Allah! Allah is not shy to tell the truth. Inform me: if a women sees in a dream what men see should she perform Ghusl from that?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her: "Yes." 'Aishah said: "I expressed my displeasure and said: 'Does a woman see that?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned to me and said: 'May your right hand be covered with dust! How else would (her child) resemble her?'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 196)

أَنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ كَلَّمَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَعَائِشَةُ جَالِسَةٌ فَقَالَتْ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ أَرَأَيْتَ الْمَرْأَةَ تَرَى فِي النَّوْمِ مَا يَرَى الرَّجُلُ أَتَغْتَسِلُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ» فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا أُفٍّ لَكِ أَوَ تَرَى الْمَرْأَةُ ذَلِكَ؟ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «تَرِبَتْ يَمِينُكِ فَمَنْ أَيْنَ يَكُونُ الشَّبَهُ؟»

[AI] Um Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated that she said: "Umm Sulaim, the wife of Abu Talha Al-Ansari, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, is it necessary for a woman to perform ghusl (ritual bath) if she has a wet dream?' He replied, 'Yes, if she sees water, it is obligatory for her to perform ghusl.'"

عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولُ اللهِ لَا يُسْتَحَى مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ
