[Machine] Um Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated that she said: "Umm Sulaim, the wife of Abu Talha Al-Ansari, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, is it necessary for a woman to perform ghusl (ritual bath) if she has a wet dream?' He replied, 'Yes, if she sees water, it is obligatory for her to perform ghusl.'"  

البيهقي:٧٩١ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ثنا مَالِكٌ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ غَالِبٍ الْخُوَارَزْمِيُّ بِبَغْدَادَ ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَمْدَانَ النَّيْسَابُورِيَّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ أَنَا ابْنَ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ

عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولُ اللهِ لَا يُسْتَحَى مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ مِنْ غُسْلٍ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ  

رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ مِنْ أَوْجُهٍ أُخَرَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ مِنْهَا

(the mother of the believers) Um Sulaim, the wife of Abu Talha, came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Verily Allah is not shy of (telling you) the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to take a bath after she has a wet dream (nocturnal sexual discharge)?" Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes, if she notices a discharge."  

البخاري:٢٨٢ – حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father from Zaynab bint Abi Salama that Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ said, "Umm Salama, the wife of Abu Talha al-Ansari, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'Messenger of Allah! Allah is not ashamed of the truth-does a woman have to do ghusl if she has had an erotic dream?' He said, 'Yes, if she sees any liquid.' "  

مالك:٢-٨٦ – حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ

ibnhibban:1165 – al-Faḍl b. al-Ḥubāb > al-Qaʿnabī > Mālik > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > Zaynab b. Um Salamah > Um Salamah

[Machine] Narrated to us al-Qa'nabi from Malik from Hisham ibn 'Urwah from his father from Zainab bint Umm Salamah from Umm Salamah. She said, Umm Sulaym, the wife of Abu Talhah, came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, Allah is not ashamed of the truth. Is it necessary for a woman to perform ghusl (ritual bathing) if she has a wet dream?" He ﷺ replied, "Yes, if she sees the fluid.  

ابن حبّان:١١٦٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ قَالَ

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ جَاءَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ امْرَأَةُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي مِنَ الْحَقِّ هَلْ عَلَى الْمَرْأَةِ غُسْلٌ إِذَا هِيَ احْتَلَمَتْ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ إِذَا رَأَتِ الْمَاءَ»  

ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ الِاغْتِسَالَ إِنَّمَا يَجِبُ عَلَى الْمُحْتَلِمَةِ عِنْدَ الْإِنْزَالِ دُونَ الِاحْتِلَامِ الَّذِي لَا يُوجَدُ مَعَهُ الْبَلَلُ
