2. Menstruation
[Machine] "O Messenger of Allah, I am not in a state of purity. Should I still perform the prayer?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "That is only a vein and not menstruation. So when it comes, stop praying, and when its duration ends, wash away the blood and pray." And the wording for Ismail is...
Fatimah daughter of Abu Hubaish came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: I am a woman who has prolonged flow of blood; I am never purified ; should I abandon prayer ? He replied: This is (due to) a vein, and not menstruation. When the menstruation begins, you should abandon prayer ; when it is finished, you should wash away the blood and pray. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 282)
[Machine] She said, "Umm Habibah asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about menstruation. Aisha said, 'I saw her garment filled with blood, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, 'Stay in seclusion for as long as your menstruation used to prevent you from praying. Then perform ghusl (ritual bath).'""
[Machine] The daughter of Mursheed al-Ansariyah came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "My menstrual period has prolonged." He asked, "How so?" She replied, "It continues to come and go, whenever I become pure from it, it returns." He instructed her, "If you witness this, then wait for three days." Abu Bakr's son, meaning Ibn Ishaq, narrated this report, and it is possible that he stated it because purification occurs frequently during the menstrual period, so it could be considered as a continuation of the period. The Sheikh, Harām ibn Uthmān, is considered weak, and his narrations cannot be relied upon as evidence.
A hadith like this as narrated by Ibn 'Umar has also been transmitted by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri. (Using translation from Muslim 80a)
