[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivering a sermon during the Farewell Pilgrimage, saying, "O people! Fear Allah and listen and obey, even if a slave from Abyssinia is appointed as your leader, as long as he establishes the Book of Allah among you."

She said: "I was look at muscle of his upper arm quivering and I heard him saying: O you people! Have Taqwa of Allah. If a mutilated Ethiopian slave is put in command over you, then listen to him and obey him, as long as he upholds the Book of Allah among you.'"  

[Abu 'Eisa said:] There are narrations on this topic from Abu Hurairah and 'Irbad bin Sariyah. This Hadith is Hasan Sahih, it has been reported through other routes from Umm Husain.

[Machine] I heard the Prophet ﷺ giving a sermon at Arafat during the Farewell Pilgrimage, saying, "O people, fear Allah and listen and obey, even if an Abyssinian slave is appointed as your leader, for indeed whoever among you lives [after me] will see much strife. So hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs after me. Adhere to it and cling to it tightly. And beware of newly invented matters [in religion], for every innovation is misguidance."

If a slave is appointed over you and he conducts your affairs according to the Book of Allah, you should listen to him and obeey (his orders). (Using translation from Muslim 1838a)

Al-Husayn was with me in my chamber, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had hidden his robe under his armpit. He was saying, "O people, fear Allah and listen and obey even if an Abyssinian slave is appointed as your leader. For he among you who lives long will see many differences. So for you is to observe my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly-guided successors, and holding on to it with your molar teeth. Beware of newly invented matters, for every invented matter is an innovation and every innovation is a going astray, and every going astray is in Hellfire."  

الطبراني:٢١٩٣٩حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ ثنا زُهَيْرٌ ثنا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ الْحُصَيْنِ قَالَتْ

[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , on the evening of Arafat, standing on a camel and wrapped in his cloak, with his right hand raised. I heard him saying, "O people, listen and obey! Even if a slave Abyssinian with a maimed or crooked nose is appointed over you and he leads you according to the Book of Allah."
