"We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: "O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord! Verily the earthquake of the hour is a terrible thing..." up to His saying: but Allah's torment is severe (21:1 & 2)." When his Companions heard that, they hastened to catch up with him, since they knew that he had something to say. He ﷺ said: 'Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam will be called. His Lord will call him and say: O Adam, send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Fire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Fire and one for Paradise. So the people despaired as if they would not smile again. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the state of his Companions, he said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Ya'juj and Ma'juj, and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis.'" He said: "So some of the people's grief went away, and he ﷺ said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! Among mankind, you are but like the mole on the flank of a camel, or a mark on the foreleg of a beast.'"

Abū ʿĪsá said that this Ḥadīth is Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ.

[Machine] "When the verse {O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing} [Al-Hajj 1] was revealed to the Prophet ﷺ while he was on a journey, he raised his voice and his companions became attentive to him. He asked them, "Do you know which day this is?" It is the day when Allah will say to Adam, 'O Adam, arise and send forth the fire of Hell from every thousand ninety-nine and ninety [stronghold]'. This greatly disturbed the Muslims. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Be steadfast, draw near, and rejoice, for by the One in whose hand is my soul, you are not among the nations except as a spot on the side of the camel or like a spot on the arm of an animal. But you have with you two great tribes that are overwhelming in number: Gog and Magog. And whoever perishes among the disbelievers from the jinn and mankind.' This is a Sahih chain of narration according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs, and they did not exclude it."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, recited this verse and his companions were with him: "O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing" (Quran 22:1) until the end of the verse. Then he said, "Do you know which day that is?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That is the day when Allah will say to Adam, 'Arise and send forth the people to the Fire,' or He will say, 'Send forth to the Fire.' Adam will say, 'O Lord, how many are to be sent forth?' Allah will say, 'Out of every thousand, take nine hundred and ninety-nine to the Fire and one to Paradise.' That will be a day of difficulty for the people, and they will fall into despair and sorrow." The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said, "I hope that you will be one half of the people of Paradise." They rejoiced at this. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, "Work and be happy, for you are between the two creations - the people of Gog and Magog - and there has never been anyone whom they did not outnumber. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Ya'juj and Ma'juj, and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis.'" [Machine] We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during a journey, and some of his companions had come closer to him. He raised his voice with these two verses: "O people! Fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. On the Day you see it, every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of Allah is severe." When the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ heard this, they urged their camels to go faster and knew that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ meant something important. He said, "Do you know what day this is?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "This is the day when Adam will be summoned and his Lord will call him, saying, 'O Adam, send forth the group [to Hell].' Adam will say, 'O Lord, how many will be there?' Allah will say, 'From every thousand, take nine hundred and ninety-nine to Hell and one to Paradise.' Then the people would become gloomy, to the extent that they would not laugh even a little. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw his companions' expressions, he said, 'Do your work and rejoice, for by the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you are the two most populous groups among the creatures. Yet, there has never been a thing that afflicted mankind but its number was greater than yours, even though it would (only) be (reduced to the size of) a little finger on the side of the elephant or like a speck on the body of a deer.'"

[Machine] When these two verses were revealed to the Prophet ﷺ while he was on a journey and his companions were getting closer to him, we restrained the camels and knew that this was an indication of something important. When we gathered around him, he said, "Do you know what day it is?" We replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "This is the day when Allah will say to Adam, 'Send forth an army to the Fire.'" Adam will say, 'O Lord, how many?' Allah will reply, 'From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine will go to the Fire.' When his companions heard this, they became saddened and no one among them spoke clearly. When the Prophet saw what his companions were feeling, he said, 'Know and be glad! By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you are two nations that no people before you have ever equalled in number: Gog and Magog. [Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was traveling when Surah Al-Hajj was revealed. He raised his voice reciting it, but the people were drowsy and their groups scattered. "O people, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing!" until "but the punishment of Allah is severe." So they gathered around the Prophet ﷺ , thinking that the Hour had come. He asked them, "Do you know what day this is for you?" They replied, "What day is it?" He said, "It is the day in which Allah will say to Adam, 'Send forth the group of people to Hellfire,' and Adam will ask, 'Who are they, O Lord?' Allah will reply, 'Out of every thousand, take ninety-nine to Hell and one to Paradise.' Thus, the people became distressed to the extent that none of them showed clarity [in their faces]." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Carry on with your work and have glad tidings, for there has never been a Prophet except that his period of ignorance was followed by a period of Islam. And as for the count from the Period of Ignorance [i.e., time before Islam], it is completed by the people of the Period of Ignorance. Therefore, what remains now are the hypocrites." He further said, "Carry on with your work and have glad tidings, for you are like a guiding lantern on the flank of a camel, or like a red thread on a black and white striped camel, or like a mark on a creature's forearm. And you are between two creations who have not been spared from anything except that they have caused it to become numerous, namely Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog), along with those who have perished from among the descendants of Adam and Satan."

[Machine] This verse was revealed: "O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing" (Quran 22:1). We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey, and some people were asleep and scattered. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice with this verse, so they gathered around the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, the Hour has come." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited it and said, "Do you know which day this is for you?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet ﷺ said, "This is the time when Allah says to Adam, 'Stand up, O Adam, and send forth the group of fire.' He said, 'What is the group of fire?' He said, 'Send forth 999 out of a thousand to the Fire, and one to Paradise.' Then the people became hopeless, and not one of them showed any sign of reassurance. He said, 'Do your deeds and rejoice, for you are nothing more than a spark in the back of a camel or like a speck of dust in the eye of an animal.' Then he said, 'Know that you are with two groups of creatures that have never multiplied in number since they were created: the people of Yajuj and Ma'juj, who are with every child of Iblis that has ever died.'"

[Machine] We were with the Prophet ﷺ during one of his journeys when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice with these two verses: “O people, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing. On the Day you see it, every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing” (Quran 22:1-2). When we heard that, we held our breath, recognizing that it was something the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was saying. When we gathered around him, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, “Do you know which day that is?” We said, “Allah and His Messenger know better.” He said, “It is the day when Adam will be called and will call his Lord, then Adam will say, ‘Get up and send the Fire.’ Adam will ask, ‘O Lord, how much of the Fire?’ Allah will reply, ‘From every one thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.’” When they heard this, they became silent until their smiles disappeared. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw their reaction, he smiled and said, “Do your work and rejoice, for, by the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you are nothing among people but like a white hair on the flank of a black bull or like a black spot on the leg of a white bull.” They asked, “Who, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Gog and Magog and those who perished from among the children of Adam and Iblis.” Then he said, “Do your work and rejoice, for, by the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you are among people like a mustard seed on the back of a camel or like a small mark on the foreleg of a donkey.”

nasai-kubra:11277Muḥammad b. Bashhār > Yaḥyá > Hishām > Qatādah > al-Ḥasan > ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn

Among mankind, you are but like the mole on the flank of a camel, or a mark on the foreleg of a beast.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3169)
