1. Book of Faith (1/6)
[Machine] The following is the translation of the given Arabic text into English:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, "What is faith (Iman)?" He replied, "One whose good deeds please him and whose evil deeds bother him, and that is a true believer." "All these hadiths are authentic and connected according to the condition of the two Shaykhs."
[Machine] "I heard 'Awf ibn Malik al-Ashja'i saying, 'We stayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in a place so when I woke up at night, I couldn't see anything taller than the back of my saddle in the camp. It seemed like every person and their camel had stuck to the ground. I got up and started moving through the people until I reached the place where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was supposed to be sleeping, but he wasn't there. I put my hand on the bed and found it cold. I went out among the people saying, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had gone beyond our sight. I left the entire camp and saw a darkness, so I threw a stone and headed towards it. I found Mu'adh ibn Jabal and Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah there, and there was a sound in front of us like the clattering of pebbles or the sound of a thicket when the wind blows through it. Some of us said to others, 'O people, stay here until morning or until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ comes to you.' We stayed for as long as Allah willed, and then he called out, 'Has Mu'adh ibn Jabal, Abu Ubaydah ibn al-Jarrah, and 'Awf ibn Malik arrived?' We replied, 'Yes.' So he came to us, and we walked with him without asking him anything or informing him of anything. He sat on his bed and asked, 'Do you know what my Lord has given me as a choice tonight?' We replied, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said, 'Indeed, He has given me the choice between admitting half of my Ummah to Paradise and intercession, so I chose intercession.' We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make us among its people.' He said, 'It is for every Muslim.'"

[Machine] The Prophet Muhammad pbuh didn't fight a people until he called them.
«مَا قَاتَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَوْمًا حَتَّى دَعَاهُمْ»
[Machine] Rabi'ah ibn 'Ibad al-Du'ali heard Abu Lahab say, "I saw the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) in Mina, in their dwellings, before he migrated to Madinah. He said, 'O people, indeed Allah commands you to worship Him and not associate anything with Him.'" I asked, "Who is this man behind him?" It was said, "Abu Lahab."
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the pre-Islamic period at the market of Dhi Majaaz, saying, "O people, say there is no god but Allah, you will succeed." He repeated it multiple times, and people gathered around him, following him. Behind him was a man with tangled hair and a glowing face, saying, "He is a lying magician!" So I asked, "Who is this?" They said, "His uncle, Abu Lahab." "I only mentioned 'Abdul Rahman ibn Abi Al-Zinad as my source of testimony because I wanted to follow their example, as they both testified by him," they said. But indeed, I had only testified by Ibn Abi Al-Zinad, for they both testified by him.
[Machine] An old woman came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ while I was with him, and he said to her, "Who are you?" She replied, "I am Jathama Al-Muzaniyah." He said, "No, you are Hasanah Al-Muzaniyah. How are you? How is your condition? How have you been since we last saw you?" She said, "I am doing well, by my father and mother, O Messenger of Allah." When she left, I said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, you showed great regard for this old woman. What was the reason for this?" He replied, "She used to visit us during the time of Khadijah, and indeed, having good relations is part of faith."

[Machine] I heard Jesus, a man from the Bani Assad tribe, narrating about Zir from Abdullah from the Prophet PBUH, who said, "Seeking omens is a form of shirk (associating partners with Allah), but Allah the Exalted removes it through trust in Him." And this Jesus is the son of Aasim Al-Asadi, a trustworthy Kufi.

[Machine] Abu Al-A'alia and I went to Nasr ibn Aasim Al-Laythi. He said, "You two seem more knowledgeable and aware in discussion than me. Come with me." He took us until we reached Nasr ibn Aasim Al-Laythi. He said, "Relay these two hadiths to me." Nasr said, "Uqbah ibn Malik narrated to me, and he was from our tribe. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a military expedition. They became envious of a certain group [of people], so a man from that group separated himself. A man from the military expedition followed him with a drawn sword. The man who separated said, 'I am a Muslim!' but he did not pay attention to his plea and struck and killed him. The news reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and he expressed strong disapproval. The murderer was informed [of the Prophet's disapproval]. While the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon, the killer said, 'By Allah, the one who spoke did not say anything except seeking protection from being killed.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from him and from those who were near him among the people, and he continued his sermon. Then another person said, 'O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, the one who spoke did not say anything except seeking protection from being killed.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from him and from those who were near him among the people, and he continued his sermon. He could not bear it anymore, so a third person said, 'By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, the one who spoke did not say anything except seeking protection from being killed.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ approached him, and it was apparent on his face that he was displeased. Then he said, 'Verily, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has refused to accept from me whoever kills a believer.' He repeated this statement three times."

The killer said, 'O Messenger of Allah, he said it seeking refuge (from harm).' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Thus did he utter it in a vain attempt to protect himself.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned his face away from him. [Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There are three things that I swear upon, that Allah does not let anyone who has a share in Islam be like the one who has no share. The arrows of Islam are fasting, prayer, and charity. And Allah does not appoint a servant to manage the affairs of others on the Day of Resurrection, and Allah does not love a man who loves a group except that Allah makes him among them. And the fourth thing, if I swear upon it, I hope that I will not commit any sin that Allah conceals for a servant in this world except that He conceals it for him in the Hereafter." Umar ibn Abdul Aziz said, "If you hear a hadith like this narrated by Urwah from Aisha, then preserve it, for Shaybah al-Hadrami reported it and Bukhari mentioned it in his book of history. It is also said that al-Khudri heard it from Urwah and Umar ibn Abdul Aziz. This hadith has a sound chain of narrators and has not been reported by anyone other than Shu'ayb al-Hadrami, except for al-Nasa'i." The statement "وَفِيهِ جَهَالَةٌ" at the end indicates uncertainty about who reported the hadith.

So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, you mention hours when I am busy, but teach me something collective." He said, "If you are occupied, do not neglect the afternoon and evening prayers." I asked, "And what are the afternoon and evening prayers?" And it was not my people's language. He said, "The dawn and the afternoon."

Whoever neglects any of these obligations has forfeited a portion of Islam and whoever abandons them all has turned his back on Islam." "We were with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey when some of his Companions fell behind. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raised his voice reciting these two Ayat: "O mankind! Have Taqwa of your Lord! Verily the earthquake of the hour is a terrible thing..." up to His saying: but Allah's torment is severe (21:1 & 2)." When his Companions heard that, they hastened to catch up with him, since they knew that he had something to say. He ﷺ said: 'Do you know what Day this is? That is the Day when Adam will be called. His Lord will call him and say: O Adam, send forth those who are to be sent to the Fire. He will say: O Lord! How many are to be sent to the Fire? He will say: From every one-thousand there are nine-hundred and ninety-nine for the Fire and one for Paradise. So the people despaired as if they would not smile again. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw the state of his Companions, he said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, you will be counted with two creations who are immense in numbers; Ya'juj and Ma'juj, and those who have died among the progeny of Adam and the progeny of Iblis.'" He said: "So some of the people's grief went away, and he ﷺ said: 'Strive hard and receive the good news. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! Among mankind, you are but like the mole on the flank of a camel, or a mark on the foreleg of a beast.'" (Using translation from Tirmidhī 3169)

[Machine] Al-Awza'i praised and the wording of this hadith is from Abu al-Abbas who said: Rabia bin Yazid and Yahya bin Abi 'Amr al-Saybani narrated to me, they said: 'Abdullah bin Firoz al-Daylami narrated to me, he said: I entered upon Abdullah bin 'Amr bin al-'As while he was in a wall in Taif called al-Wahat and he was lecturing a young man from the Quraysh. And this young man would indulge in drinking wine.
So I said to Abdullah bin 'Amr bin al-'As, "Tell me something about you that I can narrate from you about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said, "Whoever drinks wine, his repentance will not be accepted for forty mornings." The young man clenched his hand with the hand of Abdullah, then he turned away. Abdullah said: "Indeed, a miserable person is the one who is miserable in his mother's womb. And whoever leaves his house intending only to pray in al-Masjid al-Haram, he will come out of his sin like the day his mother gave birth to him."
Abdullah bin 'Amr bin al-'As said: "O Allah! I will not permit anyone to attribute to me what I did not say. Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Whoever drinks wine, his repentance will not be accepted for forty mornings. But if he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. But if he returns to it, his repentance will not be accepted for forty mornings.' I do not remember if it was on the third or fourth time that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Then it is a right upon Allah to make him drink from the mud of the Kohl on the Day of Resurrection.'"
He said: "I also heard the Prophet ﷺ say: 'Indeed, Allah created His creation in darkness and then He cast upon them some of His light. So whoever receives some of that light on that day, then he has been guided. And whoever is misguided, then it is because of that.' So I say: The pen has dried upon the knowledge of Allah."
And I also heard the Prophet ﷺ say: 'Indeed, Sulaiman bin Dawud asked his Lord three times, so He gave him two and we hope that He gave him the third. He asked Him for a judgment that aligns with his judgment, so He gave it to him. And he asked Him for a kingdom that none after him should have, so He gave it to him. And he asked Him that whenever a man leaves his house and intends only to pray in this mosque, he should come out of his sin like the day his mother gave birth to him. We hope that Allah has given him that.' Al-Awza'i said: Rabia bin Yazid narrated this hadith to me between al-Miqsilat and al-Jasa'ir.

[Machine] From 'Abdullah bin Qatada Al-Sulami, who was one of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Allah created Adam, then He created the offspring from his back. He said, 'These are for Paradise, and I do not care,' and he said, 'These are for the Hellfire, and I do not care.' It was said, 'O Messenger of Allah, then what should we do?' He said, 'We should strive to follow destiny.'"
