1. Book of Faith
A man with honor passed by him while he was in the city market and greeted him. Alqamah said to him, "O so-and-so, you have a heart and a right. I have seen you enter upon these princes and speak to them as Allah wills you to speak. I have heard Bilal ibn Al-Harith Al-Muzani, the companion of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), say: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Verily, one of you speaks a word from Allah's pleasure, not realizing how far it reaches, but Allah writes His Pleasure therewith until the Day he shall meet Him. And verily, one of you speaks a word from Allah's displeasure, not realizing how far it reaches, but Allah writes His displeasure therewith until the Day he shall meet Him.'" Alqamah said, "Woe to you! Consider what you say and what you speak. Much of what I have heard from Bilal ibn Al-Harith has prevented me from what you are saying. Malik ibn Anas also shortened the narration of this Hadith from Muhammad ibn Amr, and did not mention Alqamah ibn Waqqas."
[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi praised what was recited on Malik, and Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq informed us that Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Ziyad informed us that Ibn Abi Uwais narrated to us that Malik reported from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Alqamah from his father from Bilal ibn Al-Harith Al-Muzani that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, a person may speak a word from the pleasure of Allah, not realizing its significance, and Allah will record His pleasure for him with it until the day he meets Him. And indeed, a person may speak a word of Allah's anger, not realizing its significance, and Allah will record His anger for him with it until the day he meets Him."
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Woe to him who tells things, speaking falsely, to make people laugh thereby. Woe to him! Woe to him!. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4990)
[Machine] O Messenger of Allah, Omar said, "I heard so-and-so mentioning and praising you, claiming that you gave him two dinars." The Prophet replied, "But that is not true. However, Omar, he did receive a sum of money from me, ranging between one hundred to ten." Then he said, "And indeed, one of you may come to me with their request, and I will give it to them while holding firmly onto it." Ahmad or someone similar said, "And it is nothing but fire." Omar then said, "O Messenger of Allah, why did you give them?" He replied, "What can I do? They ask of me and Allah refuses to make me stingy."
[Machine] Two men entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him for something. So, he prayed for them with two dinars. And then they praised him for the good fortune. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "However, so-and-so did not say that, and I have given him between ten and one hundred. What he says does not matter, for one of you may give in charity (sadaqah) from me and hold it tightly, but it is only for him a fire." So, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, how do you give him knowing that it is only a fire for him?" He said, "What can I do? They only ask me, and Allah does not like me to be miserly." "As for Mu'tamir ibn Sulayman ar-Raqqi, they did not bring him out, but Muslim ibn Abdillah ibn Bashr ar-Raqqi reported it, except that this hadith is not the cause for the hadith of al-A'mash from Abu Salih, for indeed he has another chain of narration serving as a witness for him."
[Machine] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ, he said, "It is not appropriate for a believer to be foul-mouthed."
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is not becoming for a Muslim to be foul-mouthed." Salim said, "I have never heard Ibn Umar curse anything."
