The Prophet ﷺ said: When a man commits fornication, faith departs from him and there is something like a canvas roof over his head; and when he quits that action, faith returns to him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4690)   

الحاكم:٥٦ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ الْفَقِيهُ وَأَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ الْحِيرِيُّ قَالَا ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ هَانِئٍ ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْشَاذَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ قَالُوا ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ أَنْبَأَنَا نَافِعُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ثنا ابْنُ الْهَادِ أَنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِذَا زَنَى الْعَبْدُ خَرَجَ مِنْهُ الْإِيمَانُ وَكَانَ كَالظُّلَّةِ فَإِذَا انْقَلَعَ مِنْهَا رَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ الْإِيمَانُ»  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ فَقَدِ احْتَجَّا بِرُوَاتِهِ وَلَهُ شَاهِدٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ» على شرطهما
