He performed Hajj with Ibn Masud ᴿᴬ, and he saw him stoning the largest Jamrah with seven pebbles, placing the House on his left and Mina on his right. Then he said, "This is the standing place of the one upon whom Surat al-Baqarah was revealed."
أَنَّهُ حَجَّ مَعَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ؓ، فَرَآهُ يَرْمِي الْجَمْرَةَ الْكُبْرَى بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ، فَجَعَلَ الْبَيْتَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ وَمِنًى عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: هَذَا مَقَامُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ.
I have heard from one upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed (the Holy Prophet) pronouncing Talbiya at this place.
قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَنَحْنُ بِجَمْعٍ سَمِعْتُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ يَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الْمَقَامِ لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ
We heard 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud saying to the gathering of people (at Muzdalifa) that he had heard Talbiya from him, upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed, at this very place. And so he ('Abdullah b. Mas'ud) pronounced Talbiya and we also pronounced it with him.
سَمِعْتُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ هَا هُنَا يَقُولُ لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ ثُمَّ لَبَّى وَلَبَّيْنَا مَعَهُ
"When we were in Jam (Al-Muzadalifah), Ibn Masud said: 'I heard the one to whoem surat Al-Baqarah was revealed say, in this place: Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik."
قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَنَحْنُ بِجَمْعٍ سَمِعْتُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ يَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الْمَكَانِ لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ
"I sqa Ibn Masud stone Jamratul 'Aqabah from the bottom of the valley, then he said: ;This - by the One beside Whom there is no other God-is the place where the one to whom Surat Al-Baqarah was revealed stood."'
رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ مِنْ بَطْنِ الْوَادِي ثُمَّ قَالَ هَا هُنَا وَالَّذِي لاَ إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ مَقَامُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ

[AI] That Abdullah responded when he returned from a gathering, it was said: "This is an Arab." Abdullah said: "Do people forget or have they gone astray? I have heard the one upon whom Surat Al-Baqarah was revealed saying in this place: 'Labbaik Allahumma labbaik'."
