Your Apostle ﷺ teaches you about everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes, he has forbidden us to face the Qibla at the time of excretion or urination, or cleansing with right hand or with less than three pebbles, or with dung or bone.  

قِيلَ لَهُ قَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ نَبِيُّكُمْ ﷺ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةَ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَجَلْ لَقَدْ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ لِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ بِعَظْمٍ  

It was said to Salman: Your Prophet teaches you everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes. He has forbidden us to face the qiblah at the time of easing or urinating, and cleansing with right hand, and cleansing with less than three stones, or cleansing with dung or bone.  

قِيلَ لَهُ لَقَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ نَبِيُّكُمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةَ قَالَ أَجَلْ لَقَدْ نَهَانَا ﷺ أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ وَأَنْ لاَ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ وَأَنْ لاَ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ أَوْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ عَظْمٍ  

"They said to Salman, 'Your Prophet taught you about everything, even defecating?' So Salman said, 'Yes. He prohibited us from facing the Qiblah when defecating and urinating, performing Istinja with the right hand, using less than three stones for Istinja, and using dung or bones for Istinja"  

قِيلَ لِسَلْمَانَ قَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ نَبِيُّكُمْ ﷺ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةَ فَقَالَ سَلْمَانُ أَجَلْ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ وَأَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ أَوْ أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ بِعَظْمٍ  

"I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?" He said: "Yes indeed. He has ordered us not to face the Qiblah (prayer direction) nor to clean ourselves with our right hands, and not to be content with anything less than three stones, which are not to include any excrement or bones."  

لَهُ بَعْضُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُمْ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ بِهِ إِنِّي أَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةِ قَالَ أَجَلْ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لاَ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَأَنْ لاَ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا وَلاَ نَكْتَفِيَ بِدُونِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ وَلاَ عَظْمٌ  

"I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?" He said: "Yes indeed. He has ordered us not to face the Qiblah (prayer direction) nor to clean ourselves with our right hands, and not to be content with anything less than three stones, which are not to include any excrement or bones." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 316)  

بَعْضُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُمْ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ بِهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةِ قَالَ سَلْمَانُ أَجَلْ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا وَلَا نَكْتَفِيَ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ وَلَا عَظْمٌ  

"They said to Salman, 'Your Prophet taught you about everything, even defecating?' So Salman said, 'Yes. قِيلَ لِسَلْمَانَ قَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ نَبِيُّكُمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةِ قَالَ أَجَلْ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بِبَوْلٍ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ أَوْ أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلَاثِ أَحْجَارٍ أَوْ أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ بِعَظْمٍ  

[Machine] I have a man from the polytheists and by Allah, I see your companion teaching you everything until he teaches you defecation. He said: Yes, he forbade us from facing the Qibla (direction of prayer), and from cleansing ourselves with our right hands, and from cleansing ourselves with less than three stones, and from cleansing ourselves with dung or bone.  

لِي رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكُينَ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى يُعَلِّمَكُمُ الْخَرْأَةَ قَالَ أَجَلْ «نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَأَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا وَأَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ وَأَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ عَظْمٍ»  

[Machine] To face the Qibla with feces or urine or to clean ourselves with our oaths or to suffice with less than three stones.  

أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا أَوْ نَكْتَفِي بِأَقَلِّ مِنْ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ»  

It was said to Salman: Your Prophet teaches you everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes. He has forbidden us to face the qiblah at the time of easing or urinating, and cleansing with right hand, and cleansing with less than three stones, or cleansing with dung or bone. قِيلَ لَهُ قَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ نَبِيُّكُمْ ﷺ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةَ؟ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَجَلْ لَقَدْ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ لِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ بِعَظْمٍ  

"عَنْ سَلْمَانَ: أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُمْ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ: أَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ عَلَّمَكُمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّى الخِرَاءَةَ (*)، فَقَالَ سَلْمَانُ: أَجَلْ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَسْتقْبِلَ القِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ، وَلَا بَوْلٍ، وَلَا نَسْتَنْجِى بأَيْمَانِنَا، وَلَا نَكْتَفِى بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ (* *)، وَلَا عَظْمٌ".
