Your Apostle ﷺ teaches you about everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes, he has forbidden us to face the Qibla at the time of excretion or urination, or cleansing with right hand or with less than three pebbles, or with dung or bone.

قِيلَ لَهُ قَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ نَبِيُّكُمْ ﷺ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةَ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَجَلْ لَقَدْ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ لِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ بِعَظْمٍ

I see that your friend even teaches you about the excrement. He replied; Yes, he has in fact forbidden us that anyone amongst us should cleanse himself with his right hand, or face the Qibla. He has forbidden the use of dung or bone for it, and he has also instructed us not to use less than three pebbles (for this purpose).

لَنَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ إِنِّي أَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ حَتَّى يُعَلِّمَكُمُ الْخِرَاءَةَ فَقَالَ أَجَلْ إِنَّهُ نَهَانَا أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِيَمِينِهِ أَوْ يَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَنَهَى عَنِ الرَّوْثِ وَالْعِظَامِ وَقَالَ لاَ يَسْتَنْجِي أَحَدُكُمْ بِدُونِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ

It was said to Salman: Your Prophet teaches you everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes. He has forbidden us to face the qiblah at the time of easing or urinating, and cleansing with right hand, and cleansing with less than three stones, or cleansing with dung or bone.

قِيلَ لَهُ لَقَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ نَبِيُّكُمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةَ قَالَ أَجَلْ لَقَدْ نَهَانَا ﷺ أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ وَأَنْ لاَ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ وَأَنْ لاَ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ أَوْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ عَظْمٍ

"They said to Salman, 'Your Prophet taught you about everything, even defecating?' So Salman said, 'Yes. He prohibited us from facing the Qiblah when defecating and urinating, performing Istinja with the right hand, using less than three stones for Istinja, and using dung or bones for Istinja"

"Your companion (meaning, the Prophet ﷺ) even teaches you how to go to the toilet!" He said: "Yes, he forbade us from facing the Qiblah when defecating or urinating, or cleaning ourselves with out right hands, or to use less than three stones."

لَهُ رَجُلٌ إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ لَيُعَلِّمُكُمْ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةَ قَالَ أَجَلْ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا أَوْ نَكْتَفِيَ بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ

"The idolators said: 'We see that your companion teaches you how to go to the toilet.' He said: 'Yes, he forbade us from cleaning ourselves with our right hand, and from facing toward the Qiblah, and he said: 'None of you should clean with less than three stones.'"

الْمُشْرِكُونَ إِنَّا لَنَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمُ الْخِرَاءَةَ قَالَ أَجَلْ نَهَانَا أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِيَمِينِهِ وَيَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَقَالَ لاَ يَسْتَنْجِي أَحَدُكُمْ بِدُونِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ

"I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?" He said: "Yes indeed. He has ordered us not to face the Qiblah (prayer direction) nor to clean ourselves with our right hands, and not to be content with anything less than three stones, which are not to include any excrement or bones."

لَهُ بَعْضُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُمْ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ بِهِ إِنِّي أَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةِ قَالَ أَجَلْ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لاَ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَأَنْ لاَ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا وَلاَ نَكْتَفِيَ بِدُونِ ثَلاَثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ وَلاَ عَظْمٌ

"I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves?" He said: "Yes indeed. بَعْضُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُمْ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ بِهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةِ قَالَ سَلْمَانُ أَجَلْ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا وَلَا نَكْتَفِيَ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ وَلَا عَظْمٌ

[AI] "The polytheists indeed claim that this will teach you until it teaches you the defecation. Say, 'If you say so, then indeed it has forbidden us from facing the qiblah or turning away from it or relieving ourselves using our right hand or using less than three stones or cleansing with bones or anything else.'"

الْمُشْرِكُونَ إِنَّ هَذَا لَيُعَلِّمُكَ حَتَّى إِنَّهُ لَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ الْخِرَاءَةَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَئِنْ قُلْتُمْ ذَاكَ لَقَدْ نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ أَوْ نَسْتَدْبِرَهَا أَوْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا أَوْ يَكْتَفِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ أَوْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ عَظْمٍ

"They said to Salman, 'Your Prophet taught you about everything, even defecating?' So Salman said, 'Yes. قَالَ قَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُمْ يَسْخَرُونَ إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ قَدْ عَلَّمَكُمْ حَتَّى عَلَّمَكُمُ الْخِرَاءَةَ فَقَالَ سَلْمَانُ أَجَلْ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا وَلَا نَكْتَفِي بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ وَلَا عَظْمٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ

[AI] The polytheists said, "Indeed, we see that your companion teaches you until he teaches you defecation." He (the Prophet) said, "Indeed, he (Allah) prohibits us from facing the Qibla (direction of prayer) and from cleaning ourselves with the right hand. He also prohibits us from cleansing with the bone or using dung as a purifier." He said, "It is not sufficient for any of you to use less than three stones."

الْمُشْرِكُونَ إِنَّا لَنَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ حَتَّى يُعَلِّمَكُمُ الْخَرْأَةَ قَالَ إِنَّهُ يَنْهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَأَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ أَحَدُنَا بِيَمِينِهِ وَنَهَانَا عَنِ الرَّوَثِ وَالْعِظَامِ وَقَالَ لَا يَكْفِي أَحَدُكُمْ دُونَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ

[AI] I have a man from the polytheists and by Allah, I see your companion teaching you everything until he teaches you defecation. He said: Yes, he forbade us from facing the Qibla (direction of prayer), and from cleansing ourselves with our right hands, and from cleansing ourselves with less than three stones, and from cleansing ourselves with dung or bone.

لِي رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكُينَ وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى يُعَلِّمَكُمُ الْخَرْأَةَ قَالَ أَجَلْ «نَهَانَا أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ وَأَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا وَأَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ وَأَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ عَظْمٍ»

It was said to Salman: Your Prophet teaches you everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes. [AI] To face the Qibla with feces or urine or to clean ourselves with our oaths or to suffice with less than three stones.

أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ أَوْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا أَوْ نَكْتَفِي بِأَقَلِّ مِنْ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ»

It was said to Salman: Your Prophet teaches you everything, even about excrement. He replied: Yes. He has forbidden us to face the qiblah at the time of easing or urinating, and cleansing with right hand, and cleansing with less than three stones, or cleansing with dung or bone. [AI] They said to Salman, "Did your Prophet ﷺ teach you everything, even how to clean yourselves after using the bathroom?" He replied, "Yes, indeed. He forbade us from facing the qibla (direction of prayer) while defecating or urinating. He also prohibited us from performing istinja (cleansing after using the bathroom) with less than three stones. And he forbade us from using dung or bones for istinja."

"عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الأَسْودِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ عَلَّمَكُمْ صَاحِبُكُمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى يُوشِكَ أَنْ يُعَلِّمَكُمْ أَنْ تَأتُونَ الْغَائِطَ وَالْبَوْلَ، قَالَ: وَذَلِكَ، قَدْ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ وَلَا بَوْلٍ، وَأَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ، وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَسْتَنْجِي بِرَوْثٍ وَلا بِرَجِيعٍ، وَلا يَسْتَنْجِي أَحَدُنَا بِيَمِينِهِ".
