muslim:1654d – ʿAbd b. Ḥumayd > ʿAbd al-Razzāq b. Hammām > Maʿmar > Ibn Ṭāwus from his father > Abū Hurayrah

I will certainly have intercourse with seventy wives during the night, and every wife amongst them will give birth to a child, who will fight in the cause of Allah. It was said to him: Say:" Insha' Allah" (God willing), but he did not say so and forgot it. He went round them but none of them give birth to a child except one woman and that too was an incomplete person. Upon this Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: If he had said" Insha' Allah." he would not have failed, and his desire must have been fulfilled.  

مسلم:١٦٥٤d – وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ بْنُ هَمَّامٍ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ لأُطِيفَنَّ اللَّيْلَةَ عَلَى سَبْعِينَ امْرَأَةً تَلِدُ كُلُّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ غُلاَمًا يُقَاتِلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ قُلْ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَلَمْ يَقُلْ فَأَطَافَ بِهِنَّ فَلَمْ تَلِدْ مِنْهُنَّ إِلاَّ امْرَأَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ نِصْفَ إِنْسَانٍ قَالَ فَقَالَ

رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْ قَالَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَمْ يَحْنَثْ وَكَانَ دَرَكًا لِحَاجَتِهِ

[Machine] Narrated by the Prophet (PBUH), Suleiman ibn Dawood said, "I will have relations with one hundred women tonight, and each woman will give birth to a boy who will fight with a sword in the cause of Allah." However, in that night, one woman only gave birth to a half human. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "If it were the will of Allah, each woman would have given birth to a boy who would fight with a sword in the cause of Allah."  

أحمد:١٠٥٨٠ – حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ دَاوُدَ قَالَ أَطُوفُ اللَّيْلَةَ عَلَى مِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ فَتَلِدُ كُلُّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ غُلَامًا يَضْرِبُ بِالسَّيْفِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَلَمْ يَسْتَثْنِ قَالَ فَطَافَ فِي تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ عَلَى مِائَةِ امْرَأَةٍ فَلَمْ تَلِدْ مِنْهُنَّ غَيْرُ امْرَأَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ وَلَدَتْ نِصْفَإِنْسَانٍ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْ أَنَّهُ كَانَ قَالَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ لَوَلَدَتْ كُلُّ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُنَّ غُلَامًا يَضْرِبُ بِالسَّيْفِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ﷻ  

ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ الْمُدْحِضِ قَوْلَ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّ هَذَا الْخَبَرَ تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَيُّوبُ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ

ibnhibban:4340 – Muḥammad b. Isḥāq b. Khuzaymah > ʿĪsá b. Mathrūd al-Ghāfiqī > Ibn Wahb > Sufyān > Ayyūb b. Mūsá > Nāfiʿ > Ibn ʿUmar

'Whoever swears an oath and says In sha' Allah, he will have made an exception."(2) (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 2104)   

ابن حبّان:٤٣٤٠ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ مَثْرُودٍ الْغَافِقِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ حَلَفَ فَقَالَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَمْ يَحْنَثْ»
