When any one of you intending to sacrifice the animal enters in the month (of Dhu'l-Hijja) he should not get his hair or nails touched (cut). It was said to Sufyan that some of the (scholars) did not deem this hadith to be Maffu'. He said: But I deem it as Marfu' (i. e. chain of narration traceable right up to the Holy Prophet).

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا دَخَلَتِ الْعَشْرُ وَأَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلاَ يَمَسَّ مِنْ شَعَرِهِ وَبَشَرِهِ شَيْئًا قِيلَ لِسُفْيَانَ فَإِنَّ بَعْضَهُمْ لاَ يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ لَكِنِّي أَرْفَعُهُ

If anyone of you intends to offer sacrifice he should not get his hair cut or nails trimmed.

إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ وَعِنْدَهُ أُضْحِيَّةٌ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلاَ يَأْخُذَنَّ شَعْرًا وَلاَ يَقْلِمَنَّ ظُفُرًا

that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If anyone of you has seen the crescent of Dhū al-Ḥijjah and one of you want to offer a sacrifice ˹on the Day of Naḥr˺, then he should hold back ˹cutting˺ his hair and nails."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: «إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ هِلاَلَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ وَأَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلْيُمْسِكْ عَنْ شَعْرِهِ وَأَظْفَارِهِ۔»

He who has a sacrificial animal with him whom (he intends) to offer as sacrifice, and he enters the month of Dhu'I-Hijja, he should not get his hair cut or nails trimmed until he has sacrificed the animal.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ ذِبْحٌ يَذْبَحُهُ فَإِذَا أُهِلَّ هِلاَلُ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَلاَ يَأْخُذَنَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلاَ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى يُضَحِّيَ

"Ibn Al-Musayyab told me that Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet told him that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his nails or cut his hair for the first ten days Dhul-Jijjah."'

أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلاَ يَقْلِمْ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ وَلاَ يَحْلِقْ شَيْئًا مِنْ شَعْرِهِ فِي عَشْرِ الأُوَلِ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ

"Whoever wants to offer a sacrifice when dhul-Hijjah begins, let him not remove anything from his hair or nails." I (the narrator) mentioned that to 'Ikrimah, and he said: "Should he not also keep away from women and perfume?"

مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَدَخَلَتْ أَيَّامُ الْعَشْرِ فَلاَ يَأْخُذْ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلاَ أَظْفَارِهِ فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِعِكْرِمَةَ فَقَالَ أَلاَ يَعْتَزِلُ النِّسَاءَ وَالطِّيبَ

"Whoever sees the new crescent of Dhul-Hijjah and wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove any of his hair or nails until he has offered the sacrifice."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ رَأَى هِلاَلَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلاَ يَأْخُذْ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلاَ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ حَتَّى يُضَحِّيَ

The Prophet ﷺ as saying: If anyone has sacrificial animal and intends to sacrifice it, and he sights the new moon of Dhul-Hajjah, he must not take any of his hair and nails until he sacrifices Abu Dawud said: The name of 'Amr b. Muslim in the chain narrated by Malik and Muhammad b. 'Amr is disputed. Some say that it is 'Umar and the majority holds that it is 'Amr. Abu Dawud said: He is 'Amr b. Muslim b. Ukaimah al-Laithi al-Jundu'i.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ ذِبْحٌ يَذْبَحُهُ فَإِذَا أَهَلَّ هِلاَلُ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَلاَ يَأْخُذَنَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلاَ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى يُضَحِّيَ

That the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever sees the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah, and wants to slaughter a sacrifice he should not take from his hair nor from his nails."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ مَنْ رَأَى هِلاَلَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ وَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلاَ يَأْخُذَنَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلاَ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ

“When the ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah) begin, and one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his hair or skin.”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ وَأَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلاَ يَمَسَّ مِنْ شَعَرِهِ وَلاَ بَشَرِهِ شَيْئًا

“Whoever among you sees the new crescent of Dhul-Hijjah and wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not take anything from his hair or nails.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مَنْ رَأَى مِنْكُمْ هِلاَلَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلاَ يَقْرَبَنَّ لَهُ شَعَرًا وَلاَ ظُفْرًا

[Machine] From the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Whoever wishes to offer a sacrifice during the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, let them not cut their hair or trim their nails."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْحَرَ فِي هِلَالِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَلَا يَأْخُذْ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَأَظْفَارِهِ

“When the ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah) begin, and one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his hair or skin.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3149)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا دَخَلَتِ الْعَشْرُ وَأَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلَا يَمَسَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلَا أَظْفَارِهِ شَيْئًا»

"Whoever sees the new crescent of Dhul-Hijjah and wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove any of his hair or nails until he has offered the sacrifice." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4361)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ رَأَى هِلَالَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلَا يَأْخُذْ مِنْ ظُفْرِهِ وَلَا مِنْ شَعْرِهِ حَتَّى يُضَحِّيَ»

"Ibn Al-Musayyab told me that Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet told him that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his nails or cut his hair for the first ten days Dhul-Jijjah."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4362)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلَا يُقَلِّمْ أَظْفَارَهُ وَلَا يَحْلِقْ شَيْئًا مِنْ شَعْرِهِ فِي الْعَشْرِ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ»

that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If anyone of you has seen the crescent of Dhū al-Ḥijjah and one of you want to offer a sacrifice ˹on the Day of Naḥr˺, then he should hold back ˹cutting˺ his hair and nails." (Using translation from Muslim 1977e)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا رَأَى أَحَدُكُمْ هِلَالَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ وَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلْيُمْسِكْ عَنْ شَعْرِهِ وَأَظْفَارِهِ»

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ ذِبْحٌ يَذْبَحُهُ فَإِذَا أَهَلَّ هِلَالُ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَلَا يَأْخُذْ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلَا مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ حَتَّى يُضَحِّيَ»

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever is planning to perform the Hajj and has an animal for sacrifice, should refrain from cutting his hair and nails."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَهَلَّ ذُو الْحِجَّةِ وَلَهُ ذِبْحٌ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَذْبَحَهُ فَلْيُمْسِكْ عَنْ شَعْرِهِ وَأَظْفَارِهِ»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever has an animal that he wants to slaughter, then when the crescent of Dhul Hijjah appears, he should not touch any of his hair or nails until it is slaughtered."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ ذِبْحٌ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَذْبَحُهُ فَإِذَا أَهَلَّ هِلَالُ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَلَا يَمَسَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلَا مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى يُذْبَحَ»

[Machine] Al-Qa'nabi narrated that Bakr ibn Sahl narrated from Abdullah ibn Yusuf, who said that Malik reported from Amr ibn Muslim al-Jundai, who reported from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, who reported from Umm Salamah, who said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah begin, whoever intends to offer a sacrifice should not cut his hair or trim his nails."

ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَا ثنا مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الْجُنْدَعِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ فَمَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلَا يَأْخُذْ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلَا مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ»

"Whoever sees the new crescent of Dhul-Hijjah and wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove any of his hair or nails until he has offered the sacrifice." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4361)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ رَأَى هِلَالَ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلَا يَأْخُذُ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلَا مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ حَتَّى يُضَحِّيَ»

[Machine] Um Salama, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever intends to offer a sacrifice (on the day of Eid), let him not remove anything from his nails or hair in the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah." Abu Abdur Rahman Amr ibn Muslim ibn Ammar ibn Ukaimeh, who was also known as Umar or Amr, narrated this Hadith. He was a resident of Medina.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلَا يَقْلِمْ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ وَلَا يَحْلِقْ شَيْئًا مِنْ شَعْرِهِ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَّلِ مِنْ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَمْرُو بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أُكَيْمَةَ وَقَدِ اخْتُلِفَ فِي اسْمِهِ فَقِيلَ عُمَرُ وَقِيلَ عَمْرٌو وَهُوَ مَدَنِيٌّ

"Whoever wants to offer a sacrifice when dhul-Hijjah begins, let him not remove anything from his hair or nails." I (the narrator) mentioned that to 'Ikrimah, and he said: "Should he not also keep away from women and perfume?" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4363)

«مَنْ أَرَادَ الْثَّجَّ فَدَخَلَتْ أَيَّامُ الْعَشْرِ فَلَا يَأْخُذُ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلَا أَظْفَارِهِ» فَذَكَرْتُهُ لِعِكْرِمَةَ فَقَالَ أَلَا يَعْتَزِلُ النِّسَاءَ وَالطِّيبَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When the ten days of Dhul Hijjah begin and one of you intends to offer a sacrifice, let him refrain from cutting his hair and nails."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْعَشْرُ فَأَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يُضَحِّيَ فَلْيُمْسِكْ عَنْ شَعْرِهِ وَأَظْفَارِهِ

"إِذَا رأيتُمَ هلال ذي الحجة، وأرادَ أحدُكم أنْ يُضحِّى فَليُمسكْ عن شَعْرِه وأظفاره" .

“When the ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah) begin, and one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not remove anything from his hair or skin.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3149)

"إِذا دَخَلَ العشرُ وأرادَ أحدُكم أن (يُضَحِّى) فلا يَمسَّ مَن شعْرِه ولا بَشرِهِ شيئًا" .

("إِذا دَخَلَ العشرُ، وأراد أحدُكم أن يضحى فليمسكْ عن شعرِه وأظفارِه".

"مَنْ رَأَى مِنْكُم هِلال ذِي الْحِجَّةِ وَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُضَحِّي فَلا يَأخُذَنَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلا مِنْ أَظفَارهِ حَتَّى يُضَحِّي".

"مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ ذِبْحٌ يَذْبَحُهُ، فإِذا أَهَلَّ هِلالُ ذِي الحِجَّةِ، فَلا يأخُذَنَّ مِنْ شَعْرهِ وَلا مِنْ أَظْفارِه شيئًا حَتَّى يُضَحِّي".
