The Prophet ﷺ said, "When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time, he is doing it, and when a drinker of an alcoholic liquor drinks it, then he is not a believer at the time of drinking it, and when a thief steals, then he is not a believer at the time of stealing, and when a robber robs, and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing robbery.

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُ وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً يَرْفَعُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ فِيهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَعَنْ سَعِيدٍ وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مِثْلَهُ إِلاَّ النُّهْبَةَ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "An adulterer, at the time he is committing illegal sexual intercourse is not a believer; and a person, at the time of drinking an alcoholic drink is not a believer; and a thief, at the time of stealing, is not a believer."

Ibn Shihab said: ʿAbdul Malik bin Abi Bakr bin ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Al- Harith bin Hisham told me that Abu Bakr used to narrate that narration to him on the authority of Abu Huraira. He used to add that Abu Bakr used to mention, besides the above cases, "And he who robs (takes illegally something by force) while the people are looking at him, is not a believer at the time he is robbing (taking).

إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ: «لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ۔»

قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُهُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ كَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يُلْحِقُ مَعَهُنَّ: وَلاَ يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ أَبْصَارَهُمْ فِيهَا حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it; and when somebody drinks an alcoholic drink, then he is not believer at the time of drinking, and when a thief steals, he is not a believer at the time when he is stealing; and when a robber robs and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing it." Abu Huraira in another narration, narrated the same from the Prophet ﷺ with the exclusion of robbery.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُ وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً يَرْفَعُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ فِيهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَعَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِثْلِهِ إِلاَّ النُّهْبَةَ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The one who commits an illegal sexual intercourse is not a believer at the time of committing illegal sexual intercourse and a thief is not a believer at the time of committing theft and a drinker of alcoholic drink is not a believer at the time of drinking. Yet, (the gate of) repentance is open thereafter."

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهْوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَالتَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ

The fornicator who fornicates is not a believer so long as he commits it and no thief who steals is a believer as long as he commits theft, and no drunkard who drinks wine is a believer as long as he drinks it. 'Abdul-Malik b. Abi Bakr' narrated this on the authority of Abu Bakr b. Abdur-Rahman b. Harith and then said: Abu Huraira made this addition: No plunderer who plunders a valuable thing that attracts the attention of people is a believer so long as he commits this act.

أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ فَأَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُهُمْ هَؤُلاَءِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ وَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ يُلْحِقُ مَعَهُنَّ وَلاَ يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ فِيهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

A fornicator who fornicates is not a believer as long as he commits fornication, and no one who steals is a believer as long as he commits theft, and no one who drinks wine is a believer as long as he drinks it, and repentance may be accepted after that.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَالتَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ

When one commits fornication, one is not a believer ; when one steals, one is not a believer ; when one drinks, one is not a believer ; and repentance is placed before him.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَالتَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'No one who commits Zina is a believer at the moment when he is committing Zina, and no one who drinks wine is a believer at the moment when he is drinking it, and no thief is a believer at the moment when he is stealing, and no killer is a believer at the moment he is killing

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَزْنِي الْعَبْدُ حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَقْتُلُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

"No one who commits Zina is a believer at the moment when he is committing Zina; no one who steals is a believe at the moment when he is stealing; no one who drinks wine is a believer at the moment when he is drinking it; and no robber is a believer at the moment when he is robbing and the people are looking on.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'No one who commits Zina is a believer at the moment when he is committing Zina; no one who steals is a believer at the moment when he is stealing; no one who drinks wine is a believer at the moment when he is drinking it; but repentance is available to him after that.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ثُمَّ التَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ

"The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: 'The adulterer is not a believer at the moment when he is committing adultery, and the wine drinker is not a believer at the moment when he is drinking wine, and the thief is not a believer at the moment when he is stealing, and the robber is not a believer at the moment when he is robbing and people are looking on.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ شَارِبُهَا حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً يَرْفَعُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ فِيهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

The Prophet [SAW] said: "The adulterer is not a believer at the moment when he is committing adultery, and the thief is not a believer at the moment when he is stealing, and the wine drinker is not a believer at the moment when he is drinking wine, and the robber is not a believer at the moment when he is robbing and taking something valuable by force while the Muslims are looking at it.'"

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِلَيْهِ أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

“The adulterer, at the time he is committing adultery, is not a believer; (the wine drinker) at the time he is drinking, is not a believer; the thief, at the time he is stealing, is not a believer; the plunderer, at the time he is plundering with the people looking on, is not a believer.”

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلاَ يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً يَرْفَعُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ أَبْصَارَهُمْ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "No honorable booty is taken that the believers raise their gazes towards, while a believer takes it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ فِيهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَهُوَ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "When an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse, then he is not a believer at the time, he is doing it, and when a drinker of an alcoholic liquor drinks it, then he is not a believer at the time of drinking it, and when a thief steals, then he is not a believer at the time of stealing, and when a robber robs, and the people look at him, then he is not a believer at the time of doing robbery. قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَزْنِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

[AI] And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A believer does not steal while he is a believer, nor does a believer commit adultery while he is a believer, nor does a believer drink alcohol while he is a believer, meaning wine. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, none of you should seize the goods of a revered person being delivered to him while he is a believer, with the believers raising their eyes towards it, and he is a believer while seizing it. And none of you should plunder while he is a believer, and he is a believer while plundering. And none of you should hoard while he is a believer, and he is a believer while hoarding. So beware, beware!"

وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَسْرِقُ سَارِقٌ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَزْنِي زَانٍ وَهُوَ حِينَ يَزْنِي مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الشَّارِبُ حِينَ يَشْرَبُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ يَعْنِي الْخَمْرَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ أَحَدُكُمْ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ إِلَيْهِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ فِيهَا وَهُوَ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَغِلُّ أَحَدُكُمْ حِينَ يَغِلُّ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَإِيَّاكُمْ إِيَّاكُمْ

When one commits fornication, one is not a believer ; when one steals, one is not a believer ; when one drinks, one is not a believer ; and repentance is placed before him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4689)

لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَالتَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "When (a person) an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it; and when somebody steals, then he is not a believer at the time he is stealing." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6782)

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَزْنِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَغُلُّ حِينَ يَغُلُّ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَقَالَ عَطَاءٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ قَالَ بَهْزٌ فَقِيلَ لَهُ قَالَ إِنَّهُ يُنْزَعُ مِنْهُ الْإِيمَانُ فَإِنْ تَابَ تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَفِي حَدِيثِ عَطَاءٍ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

A fornicator who fornicates is not a believer as long as he commits fornication, and no one who steals is a believer as long as he commits theft, and no one who drinks wine is a believer as long as he drinks it, and repentance may be accepted after that. (Using translation from Muslim 57f)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يَزْنِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَحِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَالتَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ, "A believer does not drink alcohol while he is a believer, does not commit adultery while he is a believer, and does not steal while he is a believer, especially something honorable or despised."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَزْنِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ أَوْ سَرَفٍ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ

[AI] While I was with her, a man who was drunk stumbled upon her door, and she heard the murmurs of the people. She asked, "What is this?" I replied, "A man who got drunk from wine and was struck." She said, "Glory be to Allah! I have heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that a believer should not drink while drinking, commit adultery while committing adultery, steal while stealing, or embezzle while embezzling, even if he holds a high position and the people hold him in high regard. So beware, always beware."

بَيْنَمَا أَنَا عِنْدَهَا إِذْ مَرَّ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ ضُرِبَ فِي خَمْرٍ عَلَى بَابِهَا فَسَمِعَتْ حِسَّ النَّاسِ فَقَالَتْ أَيُّ شَيْءٍ هَذَا؟ قُلْتُ رَجُلٌ أُخِذَ سَكْرَانًا مِنْ خَمْرٍ فَضُرِبَ فَقَالَتْسُبْحَانَ اللهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَشْرَبُ الشَّارِبُ حِينَ يَشْرَبُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ يَعْنِي الْخَمْرَ وَلَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ مُنْتَهِبٌ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ فِيهَا رُءُوسَهُمْ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَإِيَّاكُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمْ

“The adulterer, at the time he is committing adultery, is not a believer; (the wine drinker) at the time he is drinking, is not a believer; the thief, at the time he is stealing, is not a believer; the plunderer, at the time he is plundering with the people looking on, is not a believer.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3936)

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرُ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِلَيْهَا أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَهُوَ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ» فَقُلْتُ لِلزُّهْرِيِّ مَا هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْبَلَاغُ وَعَلَيْنَا التَّسْلِيمُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The one who commits an illegal sexual intercourse is not a believer at the time of committing illegal sexual intercourse and a thief is not a believer at the time of committing theft and a drinker of alcoholic drink is not a believer at the time of drinking. Yet, (the gate of) repentance is open thereafter." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6810)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَالتَّوْبَةُ مَعْرُوضَةٌ بَعْدُ»

When one commits fornication, one is not a believer ; when one steals, one is not a believer ; when one drinks, one is not a believer ; and repentance is placed before him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4689)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرُ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ»

When one commits fornication, one is not a believer ; when one steals, one is not a believer ; when one drinks, one is not a believer ; and repentance is placed before him. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4689)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً وَهُوَ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ»

The Prophet ﷺ said, "When (a person) an adulterer commits illegal sexual intercourse then he is not a believer at the time he is doing it; and when somebody steals, then he is not a believer at the time he is stealing." (Using translation from Bukhārī 6782)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «لَا يَسْرِقُ السَّارِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَرْفَعُ إِلَيْهَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ أَعْيُنَهُمْ وَهُوَ حِينَ يَنْتَهِبُهَا مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ حِينَ يَقْتُلُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَإِيَّاكُمْ إِيَّاكُمْ»

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ سَرَفٍ أَوْ قَالَ ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ يَنْتَهِبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُ لَهُ طَرِيقًا عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْفَى إِلَّا هَذَا الطَّرِيقَ

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَال لاَ يزني الزاني حين يزني وهُو مؤمن ولاَ يسرق حين يسرق وهُو مؤمن ولاَ يشرب الخمر حين يشربها وهُو مؤمن وهذا الحديث لا أعلم أحدًا جمع فيه بين سَعِيد وَأَبي سَلَمة وعبيد الله وحميد إلاَّ الأَوزَاعِيّ ولاَ عنه إلا مُحَمد بن كثير

قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول اللهِ ﷺ لا يسرق السارق حين يسرق وهُو مؤمن ولاَ يزني حين يزني وهُو مؤمن ولاَ يشرب الخمر حين يشربها وهُو مؤمن وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَن قَتادة إلاَّ الحكم بن عَبد الملك وحده

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَال لاَ يزني الزاني حين يزني وهُو مؤمن ولاَ يسرق حين يسرق وهُو مؤمن ولاَ يشرب الخمر حين يشربها وهُو مؤمن ولاَ ينتهب نهبة أَحسَبُهُ قال ذات شرف حين ينتهبها وهُو مؤمن وهذا الحديث لا نعلم رواه عن صفوان إلاَّ عَبد العزيز ولا نعلم روى هذا الحديث عن حُمَيد بن عَبد الرحمن إلاَّ صفوان بن سليم ما روى أَبْو بَكْر بن عَبد الرحمن عَن أبي هُرَيرة

عَن النَّبِيّ ﷺ قَال لاَ يزني الزاني حين يزني وهُو مؤمن ولاَ يسرق حين يسرق وهُو مؤمن ولاَ يشرب الخمر حين يشربها وهُو مؤمن وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لا نَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ عَن ابْنِ عَجْلان عن القعقاع عَن أبي صالح وعَن أبي الزناد إلاَّ حاتم

قَالَ قَالَ رسولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لا يزني الزاني حين يزني وهو مؤمن ولا يسرق حين يسرق وهو مؤمن ولا يشرب الخمر حين يشربها وهو مؤمن ينزع الإيمان من قلبه فإن تاب تاب الله عليه

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لا يزني الزاني حين يزني وهو مؤمن ولا يسرق حين يسرق وهو مؤمن ولا يشرب الخمر حين يشربها وهو مؤمن والتوبة معروضة بعد وهذا الحديثُ قد رواه شعبة عن الأعمش بهذا الإسناد ورواه أبو معاوية أيضا عن الأعمش

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لا يزني الزاني حين وهو مؤمن ولا يسرق حين يسرق وهو مؤمن أحسبه قال ولا ينتهب نهبة ذات شرف وهو مؤمن وَهَذَا الحديثُ لا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَوَاهُ عَنْ قتادة يجمع فيه سعيد بن المسيب والحَسَن وعطاء عن أبي هريرة ؓ إلا الحكم بن عبد الملك ولم يكن بالحافظ وحدث عَنْهُ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ وَاحْتَمَلُوا حَدِيثَهُ

عن أبي هريرة وابن عباس وابن عمر ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قال لا يزني الزاني حين يزني وهو مؤمن ولا يسرق حين يسرق وهو مؤمن ولا ينتهب نهبة ذات شرف وهو مؤمن وَهَذَا الحديثُ قَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ من وجوه ولا نعلم يروى من حديث عكرمة عن أبي هريرة ؓ إلا من هذا الوجه ولا روى عكرمة عن ابن عمر ؓ إلا هذا الحديث

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A believer does not commit adultery while he is a believer, nor does he steal while he is a believer, nor does he embezzle while he is a believer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ النُّهْبَةَ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "The believer does not commit adultery while he is a believer, nor does he drink alcohol while he is a believer, nor does he steal while he is a believer, nor does he plunder something of honor while he is a believer."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ حِينَ يَشْرَبُهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَا يَنْتَهِبُ نُهْبَةً ذَاتَ شَرَفٍ وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ»

“The adulterer, at the time he is committing adultery, is not a believer; (the wine drinker) at the time he is drinking, is not a believer; the thief, at the time he is stealing, is not a believer; the plunderer, at the time he is plundering with the people looking on, is not a believer.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3936)

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "There is no newborn among the children of Adam except that he is born upon the fitrah (natural disposition), until his parents make him Jewish, Christian, or Magian, just as an animal gives birth to a perfect offspring. Do you find any among them imperfect? Then Abu Hurairah recited: 'The fitrah (natural disposition) of Allah upon which He has created [all] people. No change should there be in the creation of Allah. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.'" [Quran 30:30]

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ فِي بَنِي آدَمَ إِلَّا يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ حَتَّى يَكُونَ أَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ أَوْ يُنَصِّرَانِهِ أَوْ يُمَجِّسَانِهِ كَمَا تُنْتَجُ الْبَهِيمَةُ بَهِيمَةً جَمْعَاءَ هَلْ تُحِسُّونَ فِيهَا مِنْ جَدْعَاءَ؟ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَاقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ {فِطْرَةَ اللهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا لَا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللهِ ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ} [الروم 30]

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The adulterer does not commit adultery while he is a believer, the drinker of alcohol does not drink it while he is a believer, the thief does not steal while he is a believer, the robber does not loot [and] raise people's gaze towards him while he is a believer. This hadith is narrated by Abu Qil, who narrates from Ibn Shihab, who narrates from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib and Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman, who narrate from Abu Hurairah, who narrates from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, in a similar manner to the hadith of Abu Bakr, except for the looting.
