9. Book of Drinks
On the night Messenger of Allah ﷺ was taken on a night journey (Miraj) two cups, one containing wine and the other milk, were presented to him at Jerusalem. He looked at it and took the cup of milk. Gabriel said, "Praise be to Allah Who guided you to Al-Fitra (the right path); if you had taken (the cup of) wine, your nation would have gone astray." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5576)
9.2 [Machine] In the prohibition of alcohol, how was it?
[Machine] I used to be a bartender at the house of Abu Talha. He said, "The prohibition of alcohol has been revealed." He then ordered a caller to make an announcement, and the caller said, "Abu Talha, come out and see what this is." So I went out and said, "This is a caller announcing, 'Indeed, alcohol has been prohibited.'" He told me to go and pour it out. I poured it out in the streets of Madinah. Their alcohol on that day was called "al-Fadeekh" (a type of date wine). Some people said, "A people were killed while it was still in their stomachs." So Allah revealed the verse, "There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have eaten [in the past] if they fear Allah and believe" (Quran 5:93).
9.3 [Machine] In tightening the grip on the consumption of alcohol
He who drank wine in the world and did not repent would be deprived of it (the pure drink) in the Hereafter. It was said to Malik: Is this hadith Marfu'? He said: Yes. (Using translation from Muslim 2003f)
[Machine] He is called Al-Wahṭu, and he is a young man from the Quraysh tribe. This young man is known for his habit of drinking alcohol. I said, "I have heard that you talk about the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and say that he said, 'Whoever drinks alcohol, his prayers will not be accepted for forty mornings.' " When the young man heard the mention of alcohol, his hand shook with the hand of Abdullah. Then he turned away and Abdullah said, "O Allah, I do not allow anyone to attribute to me something I did not say. And I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say, 'Whoever drinks alcohol, his prayers will not be accepted for forty mornings.' If he repents, then Allah will accept his repentance. But I don't know if it was in the third morning or the fourth morning that it became the right of Allah to make him drink from the pus of the putrid on the Day of Resurrection."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit at a table where alcohol is being consumed."

The Prophet [SAW] said: "No one who reminds others of his favors, no one who is disobedient to his parents and no drunkard, will enter Paradise." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5672)
9.6 [Machine] There is no cure in alcohol.
[Machine] Suwaibid bin Tarik asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about alcohol, and he prohibited him from making it. He said, "Indeed, it is a medicine." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Verily, it is not a medicine, but it is a disease."

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira through a different chain of transmitters. (Using translation from Muslim 1985b)
9.8 [Machine] What was said about the drunkard

Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about Bit'i, whereupon he said: Every drink that causes intoxication is forbidden. (Using translation from Muslim 2001a)
[Machine] The following is the English translation: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me and Mu'adh bin Jabal to Yemen, and he said, "Drink, but do not drink intoxicants, for every intoxicant is forbidden."
“Whatever causes intoxication in large amounts, a small amount of it is (also) unlawful.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3393)
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, the first thing that will be forbidden is said to be Zaid, meaning in Islam just like a container is forbidden, meaning alcohol. So it was said, 'How so, O Messenger of Allah, when Allah has clearly stated what is haram in it?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'They will give it a different name and make it permissible.'"
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The first of your religion is prophethood and mercy, then kingship and mercy, then harsh kingship. Then comes a time of mercy and harshness, wherein wine and silk are permissible." Abu Muhammad was asked about "a'far" and he said: "It is likened to dust, and there is no good in it."

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked, "What did you command him to do, O so-and-so?" The companion replied, "I commanded him to sell it." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever forbids the consumption of something, it is also forbidden to sell it." Then he ordered the wine to be poured out in the Bat-haa.

So, what should we do with our generosity?" He said, "Make it dried grapes (raisins)." They asked, "What should we do with raisins?"
