Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If I had not found it hard for my followers or the people, I would have ordered them to clean their teeth with Siwak for every prayer."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي أَوْ عَلَى النَّاسِ لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were I not afraid that it would be hard on my followers, I would order them to use the siwak (as obligatory, for cleaning the teeth).

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ

The Apostle ﷺ said: Were it not that I might over-burden the believers-and in the hadith transmitted by Zuhair" people" -I would have ordered them to use toothstick at every time of prayer.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَفِي حَدِيثِ زُهَيْرٍ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ

(the Prophet, sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) as saying : Were it not that I might oeverburdern the believers, I would order them to delay the night ('isha ) prayer and use the tooth-stick at the time of every prayer.

أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ وَبِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ

Messenger of Allah said: "If it were not that it would be difficult on my nation, then I would have ordered them to use the Siwak for each prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ

"Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the Siwak at (the time of) every Salah."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ

"Were it not that I would impose too much difficulty on my Ummah, I would have commanded them to delay 'Isha' and to use the Siwak for every prayer."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ وَبِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to use the tooth stick at every time of prayer.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلاَةٍ

The Messenger of Allah said: "Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to delay the 'Isha'."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have delayed the 'Isha' prayer until one third or one half of the night had passed.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَخَّرْتُ صَلاَةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ نِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ

[AI] From the Prophet ﷺ who said, "If it were not a hardship on my Ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak (toothstick) at every prayer." Abu Muhammad (one of the narrators) said, "He means the siwak."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِهِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ» قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ يَعْنِي السِّوَاكَ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.”

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ وَتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If it were not for the hardships on my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to delay the evening prayer and to use the toothbrush (siwak) with the prayer."

النَّبِيَّ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِتَأْخِيرِ الْعِشَاءِ وَالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الصَّلَاةِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ وَلَأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not difficult for my ummah, I would have commanded them to perform ablution before every prayer, or with every ablution, to use the Siwak (toothstick), and I would have delayed the Isha prayer to one-third of the night."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ بِوُضُوءٍ أَوْ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ بِسِوَاكٍ وَلَأَخَّرْتُ عِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ لَوْلَا أَنْ يُشَقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَخَّرْتُ صَلَاةَ الْعِشَاءِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ وَلَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not that I would be overburdening my community, I would have commanded them to use the toothstick (siwak) before every prayer." It is said that Zayd ibn Khalid would place the toothstick in his ear like a pen is placed by a writer, and whenever he got up for prayer, he would use the toothstick.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ قَالَ فَكَانَ زَيْدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ يَضَعُ السِّوَاكَ مِنْهُ مَوْضِعَ الْقَلَمِ مِنْ أُذُنِ الْكَاتِبِ كُلَّمَا قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ اسْتَاكَ

[AI] "A man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, 'If it were not difficult for my ummah (community), I would have commanded them to use the siwak (miswak) with every prayer.'"

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ كَمَا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ

[AI] "On the authority of Abu al-Jarrah, the servant of Umm Habibah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ , from Umm Habibah, she narrated to him that Zainab bint Jahsh said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'If it were not difficult upon my ummah (Muslim community), I would have commanded them to use the siwak (i.e., a tooth-stick) with every prayer as they perform ablution.'"

عَنْ أَبِي الْجَرَّاحِ مَوْلَى أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَنْ أُمِّ حَبِيبَةَ أَنَّهَا حَدَّثَتْهُ عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ قَالَتْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ كَمَا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not that I would be overburdening my community I would have ordered them to use a tooth-stick."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَوْلاَ أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Humayd ibn Abdar-Rahman ibn Awf that Abu Hurayra said, "Were it not that he would be overburdening his community he (the Messenger of Allah ﷺ) would have ordered them to use a tooth-stick with each wudu."

أَنْ يَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِهِ لأَمَرَهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "If it were not difficult for my Ummah (followers), I would have made it obligatory for them to use the Siwak (tooth stick) before every prayer, just as I made it obligatory for them to perform ablution before prayer."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ السِّوَاكَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ كَمَا فَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْوُضُوءَ»

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ « لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ مَعَ الْوُضُوءِ وَلَأَخَّرْتُ الْعِشَاءَ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ نِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why do I see you coming to me with unkempt hair? If it were not difficult for my ummah (community), I would have made it obligatory for them to use the tooth stick (siwak) just as the prayer is obligated upon them."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ تَأْتُونِي قُلْحًا اسْتَاكُوا فَلَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ السِّوَاكَ كَمَا فُرِضَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الصَّلَاةُ»

[AI] Narrated by Abu Ali As-Sa'ighal, the freed slave of Bani Asad, from Ja'far ibn Tamaam ibn Abbas, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why do you come to me with bad breath? Use Siwak (toothstick) for every purification, if it was not hard for my nation, I would have commanded them to use Siwak at every ablution."

عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الصَّيْقَلِ مَوْلَى بَنِي أَسَدٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ تَمَّامِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا لَكُمْ تَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيَّ قُلْحًا اسْتَاكُوا فَلَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ طُهُورٍ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Why do you come to me with dirty teeth? Had it not been difficult for my followers, I would have commanded them to brush their teeth with every prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا لَكُمْ تَدْخُلُونَ عَلَيَّ قُلْحًا تَسَوَّكُوا فَلَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ أَنْ يَتَسَوَّكوا عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

[AI] On the authority of a companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , it is narrated that the Prophet ﷺ was asked, "Which deed is the best?" He replied, "The prayer at its appointed time."

عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سُئِلَ أَيُّ الْأَعْمَالِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «الصَّلَاةُ لِوَقْتِهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not difficult for my ummah, I would have made it obligatory for them to use the siwak (tooth stick) before every prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَجَعَلْتُ عَلَيْهِمُ السِّوَاكَ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If it were not for the fact that I do not want to burden my followers, I would have commanded them to use a toothstick (siwak) before every prayer."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ تَضْعُفَ أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were I not afraid that it would be hard on my followers, I would order them to use the siwak (as obligatory, for cleaning the teeth). (Using translation from Bukhārī 7240)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ»

The Prophet ﷺ said: ʿWere it not that it would be too difficult for the ummah, I would have commanded them to use the siwak at the time of every prayer.” (Using translation from Aḥmad 607)
