Whenever the Prophet ﷺ went to answer the call of nature, he used to say, "Allah-umma inni aʿudhu bika minal khubuthi wal khaba'ith i.e. O Allah, I seek Refuge with You from all offensive and wicked things (evil deeds and evil spirits).

سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا يَقُولُ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاَءَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

Whenever the Prophet ﷺ went to the lavatory, he used to say: "Allahumma inni aʿudhu bika min al-khubuthi wal khaba'ith."

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاَءَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils."

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلاَءَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

"When the Prophet would enter the toilet 'He said: "O Allah! Indeed I seek refuge in You from Al-Khubith and Al- Khaba'ith."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاَءَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Al-Khala' (the toilet) and said: 'Allahumma inni a'uthu bika min al-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from male and female devils)."[1] [1] See Ma'alam As-Sunan by Al-Khattabi. And Al-Khala' is the area one relieves oneself in. It refers to outside or other than that, it should not be understood to mean toilet only.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاَءَ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

"Whenever the Messenger of Allah entered the toilet, he would say: 'A'udhu Billahi minal-khubthi wa'l-khaba'ith (I seek refuge with Allah from male and female devils).'"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاَءَ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

"Whenever the Messenger of Allah entered the toilet, he would say: 'A'udhu Billahi minal-khubthi wa'l-khaba'ith (I seek refuge with Allah from male and female devils).'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 298)

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلَاءَ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ»

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Al-Khala' (the toilet) and said: 'Allahumma inni a'uthu bika min al-khubuthi wal-khaba'ith (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from male and female devils)."[1] [1] See Ma'alam As-Sunan by Al-Khattabi. أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَمُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَقُلْ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, these restrooms are occupied. So when one of you wants to enter, let him say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the impure and evil creatures.' Abdu-l Wahhab said: 'The impure and evil creatures.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ فَلْيَقُلْ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخَبِيثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ قَالَ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الْخُبُثُ وَالْخَبَائِثُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 6)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, these bushes are inhabited by deadly creatures. So, when any one of you enters it, let him say, 'I seek refuge in Allah from the filth and evil spirits.'"

Neither of these two chains of narration fulfill the condition of authenticity, and they did not exclude it from this wording. They only agreed upon the hadeeth of 'Abdul-Azeez ibn Suhayb from Anas, mentioning seeking refuge [with Allah] exclusively."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا أَحَدُكُمْ دَخَلَهَا فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ» «كِلَا الْإِسْنَادَيْنِ مِنْ شَرْطِ الصَّحِيحِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ وَإِنَّمَا اتَّفَقَا عَلَى حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ بِذِكْرِ الِاسْتِعَاذَةِ فَقَطْ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 6)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ»

"When the Prophet would enter the toilet 'He said: "O Allah! Indeed I seek refuge in You from Al-Khubith and Al- Khaba'ith." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 6)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلَاءَ قَالَ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ»

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 6)

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا دَخَلَهَا أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَقُلْ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ»

قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إذا دخل الخلاء قال اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَتَى الْخَلاءَ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الْخُبْثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, these lavatories are dying. So, when one of you enters the lavatory, let him say: I seek refuge in Allah from filthiness, impurity, and the cursed Shaytan."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْغَائِطَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الرِّجْسِ النَّجِسِ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 6)

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should be unable, when entering his companion's armpit, to say: 'O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the impure, filthy, evil, wicked Satan.'"

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَعْجِزَنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ إِذَا دَخَلَ مِرْفَقَهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الرِّجْسِ النَّجِسِ الْخَبِيثِ الْمُخْبِثِ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 6)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, these bushes are dying, so when one of you wants to enter the bathroom, let him say, 'I seek refuge in Allah from the male and female devils.' Yazid ibn Zurai' narrated this from Sa'id from Qatadah from Al-Qasim Al-Shaibani from Zaid ibn Arqam."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَحَدُكُمُ أنْ يَدْخُلَ الْخَلَاءَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ خَالَفَهُ يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: "I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils." (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 6)

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ الْخَلَاءَ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Verily, these privy parts are dying, so when one of you goes to the toilet, let him say: I seek refuge in Allah from male and female evil spirits.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ فَإِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ فَلْيَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ وَهَكَذَا

"إِنَّ هذه الحُشُوشَ مُحْتضَرةٌ، فإِذا أَتى أَحدُكم الخلاءَ فَلْيَقُلْ: أَعوذ باللَّه من الخُبث والخبائث".

"إِنَّ هذه الْحُشُوشَ مُحْتَضَرَة، فإِذا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ الغائطَ فَليَقُلْ: أَعوذُ باللَّه من الرِّجْسِ النَّجِس الشيطانِ الرجيم".

"إِنَّ هذه الحُشوشَ مُحْتَضَرَةٌ، فإِذا دخَلَهَا أحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَقُلْ: اللهُمَّ إِنِّى أعُوذُ بكَ مِنَ الخُبْثِ والخبائِثِ عبد الرزاق عن أَنس ؓ".

" عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا دَخَلَ الخَلاَءَ قَالَ: أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الْخُبثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ ".

"عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْحُشُوش مُحْتَضَرَةٌ، فَإِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَليَقُلْ: أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الرِّجْسِ الْخَبِيثِ الْمُخَبَّثِ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيم".
