Messenger of Allah ﷺ once led us in a prayer and offered two rakʿat and got up (for the third rakʿa) without sitting (after the second rakʿa). The people also got up with him, and when he was about to finish his prayer, we waited for him to finish the prayer with Taslim but he said Takbir before Taslim and performed two prostrations while sitting and then finished the prayer with Taslim.

أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَّى لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ بَعْضِ الصَّلَوَاتِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلاَتَهُ وَنَظَرْنَا تَسْلِيمَهُ كَبَّرَ قَبْلَ التَّسْلِيمِ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

(the ally of Bani ʿAbdul Muttalib) Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up for the Zuhr prayer and he should have sat (after the second rakʿa but he stood up for the third rakʿa without sitting for Tashah-hud) and when he finished the prayer he performed two prostrations and said Takbir on each prostration while sitting, before ending (the prayer) with Taslim; and the people too performed the two prostrations with him instead of the sitting he forgot.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِي صَلاَةِ الظُّهْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُلُوسٌ فَلَمَّا أَتَمَّ صَلاَتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ فَكَبَّرَ فِي كُلِّ سَجْدَةٍ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ وَسَجَدَهُمَا النَّاسُ مَعَهُ مَكَانَ مَا نَسِيَ مِنَ الْجُلُوسِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us two rak'ahs of prayer in one of the (obligatory) prayers and then got up and did not sit. and the people stood up along with him. When he finished the prayer and we expected him to pronounce salutation. he said:" Allah is Most Great" while sitting and made two prostrations before salutation and then pronounced (the, final) salutation.

صَلَّى لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ بَعْضِ الصَّلَوَاتِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلاَتَهُ وَنَظَرْنَا تَسْلِيمَهُ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ التَّسْلِيمِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up in the noon prayer (though) he hadith sit (after the two rak'ahs). When he completed the prayer he performed two prostrations and said," Allah is the Most Great" in each prostration, while he was sitting before pronouncing salutation, and the people performed prostration along with him. That was a compensation for he had forgotten to observe jalsa (after two rak'ahs).

"The Prophet (S) stood for the Zuhr prayer, and he had a sitting to perform, so when he completed his Salat, he performed two prostrations, saying the Takbir for each prostration. So he was sitting before saying the Salam, and the people prostrated with him in place of the sitting he forgot."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَامَ فِي صَلاَةِ الظُّهْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُلُوسٌ فَلَمَّا أَتَمَّ صَلاَتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ يُكَبِّرُ فِي كُلِّ سَجْدَةٍ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ وَسَجَدَهُمَا النَّاسُ مَعَهُ مَكَانَ مَا نَسِيَ مِنَ الْجُلُوسِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ

"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in praying two rak'ahs, then he stood up and did not sit, and the people stood up with him. When he finished the prayer, and we were waiting for him to say the taslim, he said the takbir and prostrated twice while sitting, before the taslim. Then he said the taslim."

Abdullah bin Buhainah told him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up following two rak'ahs of Zuhr and did not sit down (for tashahhud). When he finished the prayer he prostrated twice, saying Takbir for each prostration, while he was sitting, before he said the taslim, and the people prostrated with him. (He did that) in place of the sitting that he had forgotten.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from al-Araj that Abdullah ibn Buhayna said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed two rakas with us and then stood without sitting and the people stood with him. When he had finished the prayerand we had seen him say the taslim, he said 'Allah is greater' and did two sajdas from the sitting position and then said the taslim again."

أَنَّهُ قَالَ صَلَّى لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلاَتَهُ وَنَظَرْنَا تَسْلِيمَهُ كَبَّرَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ التَّسْلِيمِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up from the Dhuhr prayer while he was sitting. When he completed his prayer, he performed two prostrations while he was still sitting before he gave the salutations. The people also performed those prostrations with him in the same place where he forgot to sit."

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَامَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُلُوسٌ فَلَمَّا أَتَمَّ صَلَاتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ وَسَجَدَهُمَا النَّاسُ مَعَهُ مَكَانَ مَا نَسِيَ مِنَ الْجُلُوسِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ stood up from the Dhuhr prayer while he was sitting. When he completed his prayer, he performed two prostrations while still sitting before he gave the salaam, and the people performed those prostrations wherever they were sitting.

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَامَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُلُوسٌ فَلَمَّا أَتَمَّ صَلَاتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ وَسَجَدَهُمَا النَّاسُ مَكَانَ مَا نَسِيَ مِنَ الْجُلُوسِ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up from the noon prayer, and he was sitting. When he finished his prayer, he prostrated twice while sitting before he gave the salutation. The people also prostrated with him in the same place, wherever he had forgotten to sit.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ «قَامَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُلُوسٌ فَلَمَّا أَتَمَّ صَلَاتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ وَسَجَدَهُمَا النَّاسُ مَعَهُ مَكَانَ مَا نَسِيَ مِنَ الْجُلُوسِ»

[AI] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up for the two rak'ahs and the people stood up with him. When he sat down during the fourth rak'ah, the people waited for his tasleem (pronouncement of salaam) so they could complete their prayer. He said the takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and then prostrated, then said the takbeer again and prostrated before pronouncing the tasleem."

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا جَلَسَ فِي أَرْبَعٍ انْتَظَرَ النَّاسُ تَسْلِيمَهُ كَبَّرَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ»

أَخْبَرَهُ «أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَامَ فِي ثِنْتَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ prayed with us, then he stood for the first two units of prayer before sitting. He continued with his prayer, and when he finished, he waited for the people to finish their salutations. Then he said the takbeer and prostrated before saying the salutation. Then he raised his head, said the takbeer, prostrated again, and raised his head and said the salutation.

صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَامَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَجْلِسَ فَمَضَى فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ وَانْتَظَرَ النَّاسُ تَسْلِيمَهُ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَسَلَّمَ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up for the Dhuhr prayer while he was sitting. When he completed his prayer, he performed two prostrations, saying takbir in each prostration, while he was still sitting, before making the Salam. The people also performed these two prostrations along with him wherever they were sitting. The narration did not mention any difference in their sitting positions except that Abu 'Amr did not say 'As-Saddi (As-Saddi is the name of the place where the Prophet had made the prostrations), nor did he say Halif bin 'Abdul-Muttalib.

"صَلَّى بنَا رَسُولُ الله ﷺ إِحْدَى صَلَاتِى الْعَشِىِّ، فَقامَ في رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَلَمْ يَجْلسْ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ فِى آخر صَلَاتِهِ انْتَظرنَا أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ مَعَنَا، فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ التَّسْليم، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ".

"أَنَّ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ قَامَ فِى الظُّهْرِ وَعَلَيْه جُلُوسٌ، فَلَمَّا أَتَمَّ صَلَاتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ، قَبْلَ أنْ يُسَلِّمَ، يُكَبِّرُ في كُلِّ سَجْدَةٍ، وَسَجَدَهُمَا النَّاسُ مَعَهُ مَكَانَ مَا نَسِىَ مِنَ الْجُلُوسِ".
