47. Chapter
[Machine] What increases in a woman during pregnancy is not more than two years and the quantity or amount that the shadow of a spinning wheel changes.
[Machine] The woman did not exceed carrying her pregnancy for more than two years, the length of time it takes to spin a thread. So he (Prophet Muhammad) said: "Glory be to Allah! Who says this is our neighbor, the wife of Muhammad ibn 'Ajlan, a righteous woman, and her husband is a righteous man. She had carried three pregnancies in twelve years, with each pregnancy lasting four years."
[Machine] A woman named Muhammad ibn Ajlan is famous among us for carrying and delivering in four years, and she was called "The Carrier of the Elephant."
[Machine] I heard Malik ibn Anas saying that pregnancy can sometimes last for years, and I know of someone whose mother carried him for more than two years, meaning himself.
[Machine] That his mother carried him in her womb for three years. This is the meaning of his statement.
[Machine] O Abu Yahya, pray for a woman who has been suffering for four years and is in severe distress. Malik became angry and closed the Quran, then said, "These people do not see except that we are prophets." Then he prayed and said, "O Allah, if this woman has a wind in her stomach, remove it from her immediately, and if she has a girl in her stomach, replace her with a boy, for you can erase what you will and establish what you will, and with you is the Mother of the Book." Then Malik raised his hand, and the people raised their hands, and the Messenger came to the man and said, "Find your wife." So the man went, and Malik did not lower his hand until the man came out of the mosque gate with a curly-haired boy, a cat-like child, four years old, whose teeth had not been cut yet. His secrets were extraordinary.
[Machine] About my wife, I traveled for two years and returned to find her pregnant. Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, consulted some people about whether she should be stoned. Muadh bin Jabal said, "O leader of the believers, if you have a way to prove her guilt, then you don't have a way to prove what is in her womb. So leave her until she gives birth." Umar left her, and she gave birth to a boy whose features resembled a certain man. The man said, "He is my son, by the Lord of the Kaaba!" Umar commented, "Women are incapable of giving birth to someone like Muadh. If it wasn't for Muadh, Umar would have perished." If this statement is proven, it indicates that pregnancy can last more than two years. And Umar's statement concerning the woman of the lost camel waiting for four years suggests that he only said this because of the prolonged pregnancy. And Allah knows best.
