[Machine] Abu Hurayrah cried when he was sick, so he was asked, "What makes you cry?" He said, "I do not cry for this worldly life of yours, but I cry for the distance of my journey and the few provisions I have. And I find myself ascending and descending between paradise and hell, and I do not know to which of them I will be taken."  

أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ بَكَى فِي مَرَضِهِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ مَا يُبْكِيكَ؟ قَالَ أَمَا أَنِّي لَا أَبْكِي عَلَى دُنْيَاكُمْ هَذِهِ وَلَكِنِّي أَبْكِي عَلَى بُعْدِ سَفَرِي وَقِلَّةِ زَادِي وَإِنِّي أَمْسَيْتُ فِي صُعُودٍ وَمَهْبَطَةٍ عَلَى جَنَّةٍ وَنَارٍ وَلَا أَدْرِي إِلَى أَيِّهِمَا يُؤْخَذُ بِي  

[Machine] We used to come to Abu Huraira in the morning and evening. He would recite the Quran to us, supplicate, and tell stories.  

كُنَّا نَأْتِي أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ فَيَقْرَأُ عَلَيْنَا الْقُرْآنَ وَيَدْعُو وَيَقُصُّ  

[Machine] "He used to say to his daughter, 'O my daughter, do not wear jewelry. I fear for you the fire. And do not wear silk, for I fear for you the burning."  

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ لِابْنَتِهِ يَا بُنَيَّةُ لَا تَلْبِسِي الْمُذَهَّبَ؛ [127] إِنِّي أَخْشَى عَلَيْكِ اللَّهَبَ وَلَا تَلْبِسِي الْحَرِيرَ إِنِّي أَخْشَى عَلَيْكِ الْحَرِيقَ  

[Machine] About the basin for calculation, a man informs another man and asks him, "Did you drink, O so-and-so?" The other man replies, "No, but I am thirsty."  

عَنِ الْحَوْضِ لِلْحِسَابِ فَيُبَلِّغُ الرَّجُلُ الرَّجُلَ فَيَقُولُ أَشَرِبْتَ يَا فُلَانُ؟ فَيَقُولُ لَا وَا عَطَشَاهُ  

[Machine] "Because for me to die, then be resurrected, then die again, then be resurrected again, then die again, then be resurrected again, it is more beloved to me than to see the disgrace of a Muslim or for them to see it from me."  

لَأَنْ أَمُوتَ ثُمَّ أُنْشَرَ ثُمَّ أَمُوتَ ثُمَّ أُنْشَرَ ثُمَّ أَمُوتَ ثُمَّ أُنْشَرَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ أَنْ أَرَى عَوْرَةَ مُسْلِمٍ أَوْ يَرَاهَا مِنِّي  

[Machine] "When knowledge appears, actions become hidden, tongues are reconciled, hearts differ, and every person cuts off their ties of kinship, then Allah curses them. He deafens their ears and blinds their sight."  

إِذَا ظَهَرَ الْعِلْمُ وَخَزُنَ الْعَمَلُ وَائْتَلَفَتِ الْأَلْسُنُ وَاخْتَلَفَتِ الْقُلُوبُ وَقَطَعَ كُلُّ ذِي رَحِمٍ رَحِمَهُ فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ؛ فَأَصَمَّهُمْ وَأَعْمَى أَبْصَارَهُمْ  

[Machine] Salman al-Farsi, may Allah have mercy upon him, used to say, "Three things made me laugh and three things made me cry. I laughed at the one who hopes for this worldly life, yet death seeks him, and he is heedless, while the one who mocks him is unaware whether his Lord is angry with him or pleased. And three things made me cry: the separation from the beloved Prophet Muhammad and his companions, and the horror of the beginning when death approaches, and standing in front of the Lord of all worlds when I do not know if I will be directed towards the Fire or towards Paradise."  

أَنَّ سَلْمَانَ الْفَارِسِيَّ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ أَضْحَكَنِي ثَلَاثٌ وَأَبْكَانِي ثَلَاثٌ ضَحِكْتُ مِنْ مُؤَمِّلِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْمَوْتُ يَطْلُبُهُ وَغَافِلٍ لَا يُغْفَلُ عَنْهُ وَضَاحِكٍ مِلْءَ فِيهِ لَا يَدْرِي أَمُسْخِطٌ رَبَّهُ أَوْ مُرْضِيهِ وَأَبْكَانِي ثَلَاثٌ فِرَاقُ الْأَحِبَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَحِزْبِهِ وَهَوْلُ الْمَطْلَعِ عِنْدَ غَمَرَاتِ الْمَوْتِ وَالْوُقُوفُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ حِينَ لَا أَدْرِي إِلَى النَّارِ أَنْصَرِفُ أَمْ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ  

[Machine] That he came to the Holy Land, and Salman wrote to him: Indeed, the land does not sanctify anyone, but rather a person's actions which sanctify them. I have heard that you have been appointed as a doctor, so if you heal, then good for you. But if you harm or kill someone, then be careful, for you may enter the fire. And Abu ad-Darda, when he finished judging between two people and turned away from them, he looked at them and said, "You are both doctors, by Allah, return to me and present your case again."  

أَنْ هَلُمَّ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ الْمُقَدَّسَةِ فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ سَلْمَانُ إِنَّ الْأَرْضَ لَا تُقَدِّسُ أَحَدًا وَإِنَّمَا يُقَدِّسُ الْإِنْسَانَ عَمَلُهُ وَقَدْ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ جُعِلْتَ طَبِيبًا فَإِنْ كُنْتَ تُبْرِئُ فَنِعِمَّا لَكَ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ مُتَطَبِّبًا فَاحْذَرْ أَنْ تَقْتُلَ إِنْسَانًا؛ فَيُدْخِلُكَ النَّارَ وَكَانَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ إِذَا قَضَى بَيْنَ اثْنَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَا عَنْهُ نَظَرَ إِلَيْهِمَا وَقَالَ مُتَطَبِّبٌ وَاللَّهِ ارْجِعَا إِلَيَّ أَعِيدَا عَلَيَّ قَضِيَّتَكُمَا  

[Machine] To kill a Muslim; so the fire is obligatory for you.  

أَنْ تَقْتُلَ مُسْلِمًا؛ فَتَجِبُ لكَ النَّارُ  

[Machine] To Salman, O Abu Abdullah, why don't you build a house for yourself? He disliked the idea. Ruwaydah said, "I will not inform you until I tell you that I will build a house for you. When you lay in it, your head will be on this side, and your feet on the other side. And when you stand up, your head will hit the ceiling." Salman said, "It's as if you are reading my mind."  

لِسَلْمَانَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَلَا تَبْنِي لَكَ بَيْتًا؟ قَالَ فَكَرِهَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ فَقَالَ رُوَيْدَكَ حَتَّى أُخْبِرَكَ أَنِّي أَبْنِي لَكَ بَيْتًا إِذَا اضَّطَجَعْتَ فِيهِ كَانَ رَأْسُكَ مِنْ هَذَا الْجَانِبِ وَرِجْلَاكَ مِنَ الْجَانِبِ الْآخَرِ وَإِذَا قُمْتَ أَصَابَ رَأْسَكَ فَقَالَ سَلْمَانُ كَأَنَّكَ فِي نَفْسِي  

[Machine] Indeed, if you did not fulfill it, it would be a trust that you did not fulfill.  

أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ لَمْ تُؤَدِّهَا كَانَتْ أَمَانَةً لَمْ تُؤَدِّهَا  

[Machine] Salman, may Allah have mercy on him, used to shave his head. His companion asked him, "What is this for?" He replied, "Indeed, the true life is the life of the hereafter."  

كَانَ سَلْمَانُ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ يَحْلِقُ رَأْسَهُ رَفِيقُهُ فَقِيلَ لَهُ مَا هَذَا؟ فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا الْعَيْشُ عَيْشُ الْآخِرَةِ  

[Machine] Abdullah said, "Indeed, this Quran is an intercessor, a persuasive argument, and a verifier. Whoever sets it before him, it will lead him to Paradise; and whoever puts it behind him, it will drive him to the Hellfire."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ شَافِعٌ مُشَفَّعٌ وَمَاحِلٌ مُصَدِّقٌ فَمَنْ جَعَلَهُ أَمَامَهُ قَادَهُ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَمَنْ جَعَلَهُ خَلْفَهُ سَاقَهُ إِلَى النَّارِ  

[Machine] The son of Adam is like a thing thrown between the hands of Allah and the devil. If Allah has a need in it, He takes it from the devil. And if Allah has no need in it, He leaves it between Him and the devil.  

إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ابْنِ آدَمَ كَالشَّيْءِ الْمُلْقَى بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللَّهِ ﷻ وَبَيْنَ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِنْ كَانَ لِلَّهِ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ حَازَهُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِلَّهِ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ خَلَّى بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الشَّيْطَانِ  

[Machine] No one among the people on the Day of Judgment except that he wishes he had eaten sustenance in the world. And no one among you wakes up in the morning or in the evening except that there is a regret in his soul.  

مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يَتَمَنَّى أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَأْكُلُ فِي الدُّنْيَا قُوتًا وَمَا يَضُرُّ أَحَدُكُمْ عَلَى أَيِّ حَالٍ أَصْبَحَ وَأَمْسَى مِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونَ فِي النَّفْسِ حَزَازَةٌ  

[Machine] Abdullah said, "There is no rest for the believer without meeting with Allah."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لَا رَاحَةَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ دُونَ لِقَاءِ اللَّهِ ﷻ  

[Machine] Abdullah said, "How excellent are the disliked things of death and poverty! By Allah, it is only wealth or poverty, and I don't care which one I am afflicted with. If it is wealth, it is for generosity, and if it is poverty, it is for patience."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَبَّذَا الْمَكْرُوهَانِ الْمَوْتُ وَالْفَقْرُ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا الْغِنَى أَوِ الْفَقْرُ وَمَا أُبَالِي بَأَيِّهِمَا ابْتُلِيتُ؛ إِنْ كَانَ الْغِنَى فِيهِ لِلْعَطْفِ وَإِنْ كَانَ الْفَقْرُ أَنَّ فِيهِ لِلصَّبْرِ  

[Machine] Abdullah, may Allah have mercy on him, used to stand up when the eyes became calm, and I heard a sound from him like the buzzing of bees.  

كَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ إِذَا هَدَأَتِ الْعُيُونُ قَامَ فَسَمِعْتُ لَهُ دَوِيًّا كَدَوِيِّ النَّحْلِ  

[Machine] Abdullah said, "I wish I were a bird with feathers on my shoulder." Abdullah narrated to us, my father narrated to me, Waki narrated to us, Malik ibn Mighwal narrated to us, from Al-Qasim ibn Abdul Rahman who said, "A man said to Abdullah, 'I wish I were among the people of the right.' Abdullah said, 'I wish that when I die, I will not be resurrected.'"  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ طَيْرًا فِي مِنْكَبِي رِيشٌ

حَدَّثَنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنا أبِي، حَدَّثَنا وكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنا مالِكُ بْنُ مِغْوَلٍ، عَنِ القاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قالَ: قالَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: لَيْتَنِي مِن أصْحابِ اليَمِينِ، قالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: لَيْتَنِي إذا مِتُّ لَمْ أُبْعَثْ "  

[Machine] Abu Musa said, "I came to the Prophet ﷺ and I do not see Ibn Mas'ud except with his family, based on what I have witnessed of their kindness towards him."  

قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَمَا أَرَى ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ إِلَّا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ مِمَّا رَأَيْتُ مِنْ لُطْفِهِمْ بِهِ  

[Machine] Whoever humbles themselves to Allah, showing humility, Allah will elevate them on the Day of Judgment. And whoever behaves arrogantly and considers themselves great, Allah will lower them on the Day of Judgment.  

مَنْ تَوَاضَعَ لِلَّهِ تَخَشُّعًا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ تَطَاوَلَ تَعَظُّمًا وَضَعَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ  

[Machine] Abdullah said to his son, "Oh my son, make sure your house is enough for you, and I own your tongue, and cry because of your sinful behavior."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لِابْنِهِ يَا بُنَيَّ لِيَسَعْكَ بَيْتُكَ وأَمْلِكْ عَلَيْكَ لِسَانَكَ وَابْكِ مِنْ ذِكْرِ خَطِيئَتِكَ  

[Machine] "Abdullah, I believe that a person who forgets knowledge that he once possessed, commits a mistake."  

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَحْسَبُ الرَّجُلَ يَنْسَى الْعِلْمَ كَانَ يَعْلَمُهُ بِالْخَطِيئَةِ يَعْمَلُهَا  

[Machine] I heard Abdullah ibn Mas'ud saying, "Whoever is arrogant in organizing, Allah will lower him. And whoever humbles themselves for the sake of Allah, Allah will raise them. Indeed, there are two groups; the group of the angels and the group of the devil. The group of the angels is a group of unity in goodness and affirmation of the truth. So, when you see that, praise Allah. And the group of the devil is a group of unity in evil and denial of the truth. So, when you see that, seek refuge in Allah."  

سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ مَنْ تَطَاوَلَ تَنْظِيمًا خَفَضَهُ اللَّهُ ﷻ وَمَنْ تَوَاضَعَ لِلَّهِ تَخَشُّعًا رَفَعَهُ اللَّهُ ﷻ وَإِنَّ لِلْمَلِكِ لُمَّةً وَلِلشَّيْطَانِ لُمَّةً فَلُمَّةُ الْمَلِكِ إِيعَادٌ بِالْخَيْرِ وَتَصْدِيقٌ بِالْحَقِّ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَاحْمَدُوا اللَّهَ ﷻ وَلُمَّةُ الشَّيْطَانِ إِيعَادٌ بِالشَّرِّ وَتَكْذِيبٌ بِالْحَقِّ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ ذَلِكَ فَتَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ ﷻ  

[Machine] Indeed, Satan circled a gathering of people engaged in remembrance, in order to tempt them, but he could not cause division among them. He then approached a group of individuals discussing worldly matters and incited discord among them until they fought and killed each other. Finally, the people of remembrance stood up and separated them, causing them to disperse.  

إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ أَطَافَ بِأَهْلِ مَجْلِسِ ذِكْرٍ لِيَفْتِنَهُمْ فَلَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ يُفَرِّقَ بَيْنَهُمْ فَأَتَى عَلَى حَلَقَةٍ يَذْكُرُونَ الدُّنْيَا فَأَغْرَى بَيْنَهُمْ حَتَّى اقْتَتَلُوا فَقَامَ أَهْلُ الذِّكْرِ فَحَجَزُوا بَيْنَهُمُ فَتَفَرَّقُوا  

[Machine] Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said, "Whoever desires knowledge, let him seek it through the Qur'an, for in it is knowledge of the ancients and the modern."  

قَالَ عُبَدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ مَنْ أَرَادَ الْعِلْمَ فَلْيُثَوِّرِ الْقُرْآنَ؛ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ عِلْمَ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "On that day, you will be asked about the blessings." He ﷺ said, "Security and good health."  

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ {لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ [130] النَّعِيمِ} [التكاثر 8] قَالَ «الْأَمْنُ وَالصِّحَةُ»  

[Machine] That Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, has forgiven me for one sin.  

أَنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى غَفَرَ لِي ذَنْبًا وَاحِدًا  

[Machine] "That Allah has forgiven me a sin of my sins or a mistake of my mistakes, and I do not know of any lineage for myself."  

أَنَّ اللَّهَ غَفَرَ لِيَ ذَنْبًا مِنْ ذُنُوبِي أَوْ خَطِيئَةً مِنْ خَطَايَايَ وَإِنِّي لَا أَعْرِفُ لِيَ نَسَبًا  

[Machine] From Abdullah, regarding His saying, "And Hellfire will be brought forth on that Day." [Al-Fajr 23]. He said, "It will be brought forth with seventy thousand reins, and with every rein will be seventy thousand angels pulling it."  

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فِي قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ} [الفجر 23] قَالَ جِيءَ بِهَا تُقَادُ بِسَبْعِينَ أَلْفَ زِمَامٍ مَعَ كُلِّ زِمَامٍ سَبْعُونَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ يَجُرُّونَهَا  

[Machine] Abdullah said, "The best parts of this world are its vanishing aspects, while its hardships remain. Death is a sanctuary for every Muslim."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ذَهَبَ صَفْوُ الدُّنْيَا وَبَقِيَ كَدَرُهَا فَالْمَوْتُ الْيَوْمَ جُنَّةٌ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ  

[Machine] Abdullah said: "When you fast, start your day in a state of purification."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتُمْ صِيَامًا فَأَصْبِحُوا مُتَدَهِّنِينَ  

[Machine] The companions of Abdullah interpreted it. They said, "Until poverty in halal (lawful) is dearer to him than wealth in haram (forbidden), and until humility in obedience to Allah is dearer to him than honor in disobedience to Allah, and until his praising and blaming are equal in truth."  

فَفَسَّرَهَا أَصْحَابُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ؛ قَالُوا حَتَّى يَكُونَ الْفَقْرُ فِي الْحَلَالِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْغِنَى فِي الْحَرَامِ وَحَتَّى يَكُونَ التَّوَاضُعُ فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الشَّرَفِ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ وَحَتَّى يَكُونَ حَامِدُهُ وَذَامُّهُ فِي الْحَقِّ سَوَاءً  

[Machine] Abdullah said: Sufficient is the fear of Allah as knowledge, and sufficient is arrogance as ignorance.  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ كَفَى بِخَشْيَةِ اللَّهِ عِلْمًا وَكَفَى بِالِاغْتِرَارِ جَهْلًا  

[Machine] It is as if it is a thrown garment.  

كَأَنَّهُ ثَوْبٌ مُلْقًى  

[Machine] I heard Allah say, "{O you who have believed}, be cautious of what you hear; for indeed it is either good that He commands or evil that He forbids."  

سَمِعْتَ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ {يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا} فَارْعَهَا سَمْعَكَ؛ فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرٌ يَأْمُرُ بِهِ أَوْ شَرٌّ يَنْهَى عَنْهُ  

[Machine] Abdullah said, "Knowledge is not about the abundance of narration, but rather knowledge is fearing (Allah)."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لَيْسَ الْعِلْمُ بِكَثْرَةِ الرِّوَايَةِ وَلَكِنَّ الْعِلْمَ الْخَشْيَةُ  

[Machine] Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said, "Woe to those who do not seek knowledge, even if Allah wanted to teach them. And woe to those who have knowledge but do not act upon it, sevenfold."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَيْلٌ لِمَنْ لَا يَعْلَمُ وَلَوْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ لَعَلَّمَهُ وَوَيْلٌ لِمَنْ يَعْلَمُ وَلَا يَعْمَلُ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ  

[Machine] "To be among the people of the Right, to be among the closest to me, is beloved to me." So he said, "But here is a man who used to be a close friend of mine, but when he died he was not resurrected, meaning himself."  

أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ أَكُونُ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ فَقَالَ لَكِنْ هَاهُنَا رَجُلٌ وَدَانَهُ إِذَا مَاتَ لَمْ يُبْعَثْ يَعْنِي نَفْسَهُ  

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'When Allah wills good for a person, He causes him to understand the religion.'" (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 220)   

مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ  

[Machine] Abdullah said, "Economy in following the Sunnah is better than exerting efforts in innovation."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الِاقْتِصَادُ فِي السُّنَّةِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الِاجْتِهَادِ فِي الْبِدْعَةِ  

[Machine] "Do you not see the abundance of people's prayers and the scarcity of their answers? And do they not know why that is? That is nothing but because Allah does not accept except the sincere prayer. Abdul Rahman ibn Yazid said while sitting with them, 'If he says that, then Abdullah has indeed said that Allah does not hear from a complainer, nor from a joker, nor from a desirer, nor from a caller except a sincere prayer from his heart.'"  

أَلَا تَرَى إِلَى كَثْرَةِ دُعَاءِ النَّاسِ وَقِلَّةِ الْإِجَابَةِ لَهُمْ؟ وَهَلْ يَدْرُونَ مِمَّ ذَلِكَ؟ وَمَا ذَاكَ إِلَّا أَنَّ اللَّهَ ﷻ لَا يَقْبَلُ إِلَّا الْفَاضِلَ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ وَكَانَ جَالِسًا مَعَهُمْ لَئِنْ قَالَ ذَاكَ لَقَدْ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْمَعُ مِنْ مُسَمِّعٍ وَلَا مِنْ مُرَاءٍ وَلَا مِنْ لَاعِبٍ وَلَا مِنْ دَاعٍ إِلَّا دَاعٍ دُعَاءً ثَبْتًا مِنْ قَلْبِهِ  

[Machine] About the disapproval, he only increased it further.  

عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ لَمْ يَزْدَدْ بِهَا إِلَّا بُعْدًا  

[Machine] To see him empty, not engaged in anything from the work of this world nor the work of the hereafter.  

أَنْ أَرَاهُ فَارِغًا لَيْسَ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ عَمَلِ الدُّنْيَا وَلَا عَمَلِ الْآخِرَةِ  

"Show mercy to those on earth and the one in the sky will show Mercy to you."  

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ارْحَمْ مَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكَ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ  

[Machine] "And there is no god but Allah. Nothing harms a servant who starts his day in Islam and ends it in Islam, no matter what happens to him in the world."  

وَاللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ مَا يَضُرُّ [132] عَبْدًا يُصْبِحُ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَيُمْسِي عَلَيْهِ مَا أَصَابَهُ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا  

[Machine] And Waki' said, "On the Day of Resurrection, most of them will be immersed in falsehood."  

وَقَالَ وَكِيعٌ ذُنُوبًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَكْثَرُهُمْ خَوْضًا فِي الْبَاطِلِ  

[Machine] No man sleeps without mentioning Allah except that Satan comes and urinates in his ears. I swear by Allah, your companion has surely done this to himself tonight.  

مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَنَامُ لَا يَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ ﷻ إِلَّا بَالَ الشَّيْطَانُ فِي أُذُنِهِ وَايْمُ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ فَعَلَ بِصَاحِبِكُمُ اللَّيْلَةَ يَعْنِي نَفْسَهُ  

[Machine] "To be worthy means to return to the camels. And from Al-A'mash, from Amr, from Al-Harith bin Al-Azma said: Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah was amazed by the saying of Abdullah: Yesterday is better than today, and today is better than tomorrow, and tomorrow is better than the day after tomorrow, and so on until the Day of Judgment. And we are more prosperous now than we were before. This was mentioned to Masruq, and he said: Abdullah has more knowledge than him. Indeed, Abdullah takes into consideration the Hereafter, while Al-Mughirah takes into consideration the present world."  

أَنْ يَكُونُوا أَهْلًا يَعْنِي يَرْجِعُونَ إِلَى الْإِبِلِ

وعَنِ الأعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ الحارِثِ بْنِ الأزْمَعِ قالَ: قالَ المُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ: يَعْجَبُ مِن قَوْلِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: أمْسِ خَيْرٌ مِنَ اليَوْمِ، واليَوْمُ خَيْرٌ مِن غَدٍ، وغَدٌ خَيْرٌ مِن بَعْدِ الغَدِ، وكَذَلِكَ إلى يَوْمِ القِيامَةِ، ونَحْنُ العامَ أخْصَبُ مِنّا عامَ أوَّلِ، فَذُكِرَ لِمَسْرُوقٍ، فَقالَ مَسْرُوقٌ: عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أعْلَمُ مِنهُ، إنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ اعْتَبَرَ بِالآخِرَةِ، وإنَّ المُغِيرَةَ اعْتَبَرَ بِالدُّنْيا  

[Machine] I heard that Ibn Mas'ud passed by those who blow into the glass vessel and it broke.  

سَمِعْتُ أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ مَرَّ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِي يَنْفُخُونَ فِي الْكِيرِ فَوَقَعَ
