[Machine] The son of Adam is like a thing thrown between the hands of Allah and the devil. If Allah has a need in it, He takes it from the devil. And if Allah has no need in it, He leaves it between Him and the devil.  

الزهد لأحمد:٨٤٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ ابْنِ آدَمَ كَالشَّيْءِ الْمُلْقَى بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللَّهِ ﷻ وَبَيْنَ الشَّيْطَانِ فَإِنْ كَانَ لِلَّهِ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ حَازَهُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِلَّهِ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ خَلَّى بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الشَّيْطَانِ
