ahmad-zuhd:866ʿAbdullāh from my father > Wakīʿ > Misʿar > Maʿn > ʿAbdullāh In Āstaṭaʿt > Takūn Ant al-Muḥaddath Waʾidhā > Allāh

[Machine] I heard Allah say, "{O you who have believed}, be cautious of what you hear; for indeed it is either good that He commands or evil that He forbids."  

الزهد لأحمد:٨٦٦حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ عَنْ مَعْنٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ أَنْتَ الْمُحَدَّثَ وَإِذَا

سَمِعْتَ اللَّهَ يَقُولُ {يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا} فَارْعَهَا سَمْعَكَ؛ فَإِنَّهُ خَيْرٌ يَأْمُرُ بِهِ أَوْ شَرٌّ يَنْهَى عَنْهُ
