ahmad-zuhd:863ʿAbdullāh from my father > Yazīd > al-Masʿūdī > ʿAwn b. ʿAbdullāh > ʿAbdullāh b. Masʿūd ؒ Lā Yablugh ʿAbd Ḥaqīqah al-Īmān Ḥattá Yaḥil Bidhirwatih And Lā Yaḥil Bidhirwatih Ḥattá Yakūn al-Faqr Aḥab Ilayh from al-Ghiná Wa-al-Ttawāḍuʿ Aḥab Ilayh from al-Sharaf Waḥattá Yakūn Ḥāmiduh Wadhāmmuh ʿIndah Sawāʾ

[Machine] The companions of Abdullah interpreted it. They said, "Until poverty in halal (lawful) is dearer to him than wealth in haram (forbidden), and until humility in obedience to Allah is dearer to him than honor in disobedience to Allah, and until his praising and blaming are equal in truth."  

الزهد لأحمد:٨٦٣حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ لَا يَبْلُغُ عَبْدٌ حَقِيقَةَ الْإِيمَانِ حَتَّى يَحِلَّ بِذِرْوَتِهِ وَلَا يَحِلُّ بِذِرْوَتِهِ حَتَّى يَكُونَ الْفَقْرُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْغِنَى وَالتَّوَاضُعُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الشَّرَفِ وَحَتَّى يَكُونَ حَامِدُهُ وَذَامُّهُ عِنْدَهُ سَوَاءً قَالَ

فَفَسَّرَهَا أَصْحَابُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ؛ قَالُوا حَتَّى يَكُونَ الْفَقْرُ فِي الْحَلَالِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الْغِنَى فِي الْحَرَامِ وَحَتَّى يَكُونَ التَّوَاضُعُ فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الشَّرَفِ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ وَحَتَّى يَكُونَ حَامِدُهُ وَذَامُّهُ فِي الْحَقِّ سَوَاءً
