Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Plague was a means of torture sent on a group of Israelis (or on some people before you). So if you hear of its spread in a land, don't approach it, and if a plague should appear in a land where you are present, then don't leave that land in order to run away from it (i.e. plague).

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الطَّاعُونِ فَقَالَ أُسَامَةُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الطَّاعُونُ رِجْسٌ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى طَائِفَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَوْ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ لاَ يُخْرِجُكُمْ إِلاَّ فِرَارًا مِنْهُ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِالطَّاعُونِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَدْخُلُوهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فَقُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ يُحَدِّثُ سَعْدًا وَلاَ يُنْكِرُهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

ʿUmar went to Sham and when he reached Sargh, he got the news that an epidemic (of plague) had broken out in Sham. ʿAbdur-Rahman bin ʿAuf told him that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you hear that it (plague) has broken out in a land, do not go to it; but if it breaks out in a land where you are present, do not go out escaping from it."

أَنَّ عُمَرَ خَرَجَ إِلَى الشَّأْمِ فَلَمَّا كَانَ بِسَرْغَ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ الْوَبَاءَ قَدْ وَقَعَ بِالشَّأْمِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ

ʿUmar bin Al-Khattab left for Sham, and when he reached a placed called Sargh, he came to know that there was an outbreak of an epidemic (of plague) in Sham. Then ʿAbdurRahman bin ʿAuf told him that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you hear the news of an outbreak of an epidemic (plague) in a certain place, do not enter that place: and if the epidemic falls in a place while you are present in it, do not leave that place to escape from the epidemic." So ʿUmar returned from Sargh.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ فَرَجَعَ عُمَرُ مِنْ سَرْغَ وَعَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ إِنَّمَا انْصَرَفَ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ

What have you heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ about plague? Thereupon Usama said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Plague is a calamity which was sent to Bani Isra'il or upon those who were before you. So when you hear that it has broken out in a land, don't go to it, and when it has broken out in the land where you are, don't run out of it. In the narration transmitted on the authority of Abu Nadr there is a slight variation of wording.

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الطَّاعُونِ فَقَالَ أُسَامَةُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الطَّاعُونُ رِجْزٌ أَوْ عَذَابٌ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَوْ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ وَقَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ لاَ يُخْرِجُكُمْ إِلاَّ فِرَارٌ مِنْهُ

Plague is the sign of a calamity with which Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, affects people from His servants. So when you hear about it, don't enter there (where it has broken out), and when it has broken out in a land and you are there, then don't run away from it.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الطَّاعُونُ آيَةُ الرِّجْزِ ابْتَلَى اللَّهُ ﷻ بِهِ نَاسًا مِنْ عِبَادِهِ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فَلاَ تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَفِرُّوا مِنْهُ هَذَا حَدِيثُ الْقَعْنَبِيِّ وَقُتَيْبَةَ نَحْوَهُ

Plague is a calamity which was inflicted on those who were before you, or upon Bani Isra'il. So when it has broken out in a land, don't run out of it, and when it has spread in a land, then don't enter it.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ هَذَا الطَّاعُونَ رِجْزٌ سُلِّطَ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَوْ عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَدْخُلُوهَا

That 'Abd al-Rahman b.'Awf said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When you hear that it is breaking out in a certain territory, do not go there. If it breaks out in the territory you are in, do not go out fleeing away from it. By "it" he referred to the plague.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تُقْدِمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ يَعْنِي الطَّاعُونَ

[AI] The plague was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: "It is a punishment that afflicted those before you. So if it is in a land, do not enter it; and if it is there while you are in it, do not leave it."

ذُكِرَ الطَّاعُونُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: «رِجْزٌ أُصِيبَ بِهِ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ، فَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا، وَإِذَا كَانَ بِهَا وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا».

[AI] The plague was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: "It is a scourge with which those before you were afflicted. If it is in a land, do not enter it; and if you are in a land and it is there, do not leave it."

أَنَّ الطَّاعُونَ ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّهُ رِجْزٌ أُصِيبَ بِهِ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ، فَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا، وَإِذَا كُنْتُمْ بِأَرْضٍ وَهُوَ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا».

[AI] "If plague breaks out in a land, do not enter it; and if it breaks out while you are in it, do not leave it." He said: I said, "Did you hear Usama?" He said, "Yes."

«إِذَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ، فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا، وَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا، فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا». قَالَ قُلْتُ: أأَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ أُسَامَةَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this plague is a punishment or a remainder of punishment that afflicted a people before you. So, if it occurs in a land while you are in it, do not leave it running away from it. And if you hear about it in a land, do not enter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ هَذَا الطَّاعُونَ رِجْزٌ أَوْ بَقِيَّةٌ مِنْ عَذَابٍ عُذِّبَ بِهِ قَوْمٌ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the plague is in a land, do not enter it. And if it occurs in a land where you are, do not flee from it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا كَانَ الطَّاعُونُبِأَرْضٍ فَلا تَهْبِطُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلا تَفِرُّوا مِنْهُ

[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "If there is a plague in a land and you are not in it, do not enter it. And if there is a plague in a land and you are in it, do not leave it."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِذَا كَانَ الْوَبَاءُ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتَ بِهَا فَلا تَدْخُلْهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتَ بِهَا فَلا تَخْرُجْ مِنْهَا

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said: "Indeed, this disease has been a punishment inflicted upon nations before you. So, if you hear of it being present in a land, do not enter upon it. And if it happens in a land where you reside, do not flee from it." Umar ibn Al-Khattab then returned from Sham.

[AI] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said regarding the Battle of Tabuk, "If a plague breaks out in a land where you are present, do not leave it. And if a plague breaks out in a land where you are not present, do not enter it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ إِذَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during the Battle of Tabuk, "If there is a plague in a land and you are in it, do not leave it. And if it is in a land and you are not in it, do not enter it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ إِذَا كَانَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْرَبُوهَا

[AI] "When the plague breaks out in a land and you are in it, do not leave it. And when it breaks out in a land and you are not in it, do not enter it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ إِذَا كَانَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا عَنْهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْرَبُوهَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said regarding the Battle of Tabuk: "If a plague breaks out in a land and you are in it, do not leave. And if it breaks out in a land and you are not in it, do not enter it."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ إِذَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ

The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place." (Using translation from Bukhārī 5728)

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِالطَّاعُونِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا قَالَ قُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ يُحَدِّثُ سَعْدًا وَهُوَ لَا يُنْكِرُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, this pandemic is a punishment that Allah has used to destroy nations before you. And there is still some of it remaining on the earth, it comes and goes. So when it happens in a land, do not leave it. And when you hear about it in a land, do not go to it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَبَاءَ رِجْزٌ أَهْلَكَ اللهُ بِهِ الْأُمَمَ قَبْلَكُمْ وَقَدْ بَقِيَ مِنْهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ شَيْءٌ يَجِيءُ أَحْيَانًا وَيَذْهَبُ أَحْيَانًا فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِالطَّاعُونِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمْ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Surely, this pain is a filthy thing and a punishment, or the residue of a punishment. It is something beloved, through which people before you were punished. So, if it is in a land where you are, then do not leave it. And if you hear about it in a land, then do not enter it." I said to him, "Did you hear Osama mentioning it to Sa'd and he did not deny it?" He said, "Yes."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ رِجْسٌ وَعَذَابٌ أَوْ بَقِيَّةُ عَذَابٍ حَبِيبٌ يَشُكُّ فِيهِ عُذِّبَ بِهِ نَاسٌ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ آنْتَ سَمِعْتَ أُسَامَةَ يُحَدِّثُ سَعْدًا فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If there is a plague in a land and you are not in it, do not enter it. And if there is a plague in a land and you are in it, do not leave it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا كَانَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ لَيْسَ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The plague is a punishment or a torment with which a nation is afflicted. So, if it happens in a land while you are there, do not leave it. And if you hear of its occurrence in a land, do not enter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الطَّاعُونُ رِجْزٌ أَوْ عَذَابٌ عُذِّبَ بِهِ قَوْمٌ فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ

[AI] The Prophet (PBUH) said in the Battle of Tabuk: "If a plague breaks out in a land and you are not in it, do not enter it. And if it breaks out in a land and you are in it, do not leave it."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ إِذَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَهْجُمُوا عَلَيْهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِهَا وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا

Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir and from Salim ibn Abi'n-Nadr, the mawla of Umar ibn Ubaydullah that Amir ibn Sad ibn Abi Waqqas heard his father ask Usama ibn Zayd, "Have you heard anything from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the plague?" Usama said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'The plague is a punishment that was sent down on a party of the Banu Israil or whoever was before them. When you hear of it in a land, do not enter it. If it comes upon a land and you are in it, do not depart in flight from it.' " Malik said that Abu'n-Nadr said, "That is, do not depart with no other intention but flight."

أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَسْأَلُ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الطَّاعُونِ فَقَالَ أُسَامَةُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الطَّاعُونُ رِجْزٌ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى طَائِفَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَوْ عَلَى مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ قَالَ مَالِكٌ قَالَ أَبُو النَّضْرِ لاَ يُخْرِجُكُمْ إِلاَّ فِرَارٌ مِنْهُ

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from Abdullah ibn Amir ibn Rabia that Umar ibn al-Khattab went out to ash-Sham. When he came to Sargh, near Tabuk, he heard that the plague had broken out in ash-Sham. Abd ar-Rahman ibn Awf told him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you hear that a land has a plague in it, do not go forward to it. If it comes upon a land which you are in, do not depart in flight from it." Umar ibn al- Khattab came back from Sargh.

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ خَرَجَ إِلَى الشَّامِ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ سَرْغَ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ الْوَبَأَ قَدْ وَقَعَ بِالشَّامِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلاَ تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ فَرَجَعَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مِنْ سَرْغَ

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet ﷺ , he said, "Indeed, this pain is a punishment inflicted upon those who lived before you. So if it occurs in a place where you are not, do not go to it. And if it occurs in a place where you are, do not leave, fleeing from it." Then Umar ibn Al-Khattab returned to the people in that year.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ عَذَابٌ عُذِّبَ بِهِ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ لَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَهْبِطُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ» فَرَجَعَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ بِالنَّاسِ ذَلِكَ الْعَامَ

What have you heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ about plague? Thereupon Usama said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Plague is a calamity which was sent to Bani Isra'il or upon those who were before you. So when you hear that it has broken out in a land, don't go to it, and when it has broken out in the land where you are, don't run out of it. In the narration transmitted on the authority of Abu Nadr there is a slight variation of wording. (Using translation from Muslim 2218a)

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الطَّاعُونِ؟ فَقَالَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الطَّاعُونُ رِجْزٌ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَوْ عَلَى مَنْ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَقْدُمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ»

[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the plague, and he said, 'It is a remnant of punishment that was sent upon a group from the Children of Israel. So if it appears in a land while you are there, do not flee from it, and if it occurs in a land while you are not there, do not enter it.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهَ ﷺ ذَكَرَ الطَّاعُونَ فَقَالَ «بَقِيَّةُ رِجْزٍ وَعَذَابٌ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى طَائِفَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَهْرَبُوا مِنْهُ وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَهْبِطُوا عَلَيْهِ»

[AI] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said, "If a plague breaks out in a land and you are in it, do not leave fleeing from it, and if it breaks out in a land that you are not in, do not enter it." Abu Al-Qasim said, this is narrated by Abdur Rahman ibn Yazid ibn Tamim and Sufyan ibn Husayn, and Ibn Abi Dhi'b contradicted them.

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ» قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ هَكَذَا رَوَاهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ وَسُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ وَخَالَفَهُمَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said: "Verily, this pain or this illness is a punishment with which those before you were punished. So, when it is on land that you are not present in, do not enter into it. And if it is in a land where you are present, do not flee from it." 'Umar then returned to the people that year.

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهِ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this plague is a punishment with which Allah has destroyed some nations. And it remains on the earth, sometimes appearing and sometimes receding. So, if it happens while you are in a land, do not leave it. And if you hear of it in a land, do not enter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَبَاءَ رِجْزٌ أَهْلَكَ اللهُ بِهِ بَعْضَ الْأُمَمِ وَقَدْ بَقِيَ فِي الْأَرْضِ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ يَجِيءُ أَحْيَانًا وَيَذْهَبُ أَحْيَانًا فَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمْ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ فِي أَرْضٍ فَلَا تَأْتُوهَا»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ mentioned the plague and said, "Indeed, it is a punishment that struck those who came before you or a torment that afflicted those before you. So, when you hear of it being in a land, do not enter it, and when it has befallen in a land while you are there, do not leave, fleeing from it."

ذُكِرَ الطَّاعُونُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ رِجْزٌ أَصَابَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ أَوْ عَذَابٌ أَصَابَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِبَلَدٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمْ بِبَلَدٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this epidemic is a punishment that previous nations were inflicted with. There remains on the earth a remnant of it, sometimes it occurs and sometimes it goes away. So, if it occurs in a land while you are in it, do not leave it. And if it occurs in a land where you are not present, do not enter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَبَاءَ شَيْءٌ عُذِّبَ بِهِ الْأُمَمُ قَبْلَكُمْ وَقَدْ بَقِيَتْ فِي الْأَرْضِ مِنْهُ بَقِيَّةٌ فَتَقَعُ أَحْيَانًا وَيَذْهَبُ أَحْيَانًا فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِ»

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ mentioned the plague and said, "It is a punishment that befell those who came before you. So when you hear of it in a land, do not enter it, and if it occurs while you are in a land, do not leave in fleeing from it."

ذُكِرَ الطَّاعُونُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «إِنَّهُ رِجْسٌ أَصَابَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِبَلَدٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمْ بِبَلَدٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ»

[AI] The narration mentions the plague in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he said, "It is a punishment that befell those before you. If it occurs in a land while you are in it, do not leave it. And if it occurs in a land and you are outside it, do not enter it."

ذُكِرَ الطَّاعُونُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «رِجْزٌ أَصَابَ مَنْ قَبْلَكُمْ إِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجْ مِنْهَا وَإِنْ كَانَ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْخُلْهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this plague is a punishment and a torment inflicted upon those who came before you. So, if it happens in a land, do not leave it, and if it strikes a land that you are in, do not enter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذَا الطَّاعُونَ رِجْزٌ وَعَذَابٌ عُذِّبَ بِهِ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this plague is a punishment and a remaining torment by which a people were punished. So, if it happens in a land while you are in it, do not leave it. And if it happens in a land while you are not in it, do not enter it."

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذَا الطَّاعُونَ رِجْزٌ وَبَقِيَّةُ عَذَابٍ عُذِّبَ بِهِ قَوْمٌ فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِهَا وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, this pain is a curse and a residue of a punishment that afflicted a people before you. So if it is in a land, do not enter it. And if it is in a land where you are, do not approach it." Meaning, the plague.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ هَذَا الْوَجَعَ رِجْسٌ وَبَقِيَّةُ عَذَابٍ عُذِّبَ فِيهِ قَوْمٌ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْنُوا مِنْهُ» يَعْنِي الطَّاعُونَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا»

[AI] On the authority of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , he said: "If you hear of a plague in a land, do not enter it, and if a plague breaks out and you are in a land, do not leave it."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ بِالطَّاعُونِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ وَأَنْتُمُ بِأَرْضٍ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا»

[AI] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said during the Battle of Tabuk, "When the plague breaks out in a land and you are in it, do not leave it, and if you are outside of it, do not enter it ahead of time."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكٍ قَالَ «إِذَا وَقَعَ الطَّاعُونُ فِي أَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ فِيهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِنْ كُنْتُمْ بِغَيْرِهَا فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهَا»
