ذِكْرُ الْبَيَانِ بِأَنَّ الطَّاعُونَ إِنَّمَا هُوَ بَقِيَّةٌ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

The Prophet mentioned the plague and said: "It is an abiding punishment or chastisement that was sent upon a group of the children of Isra'il. So when it occurs in a land while you are in it, then do not leave it. And when it occurs in a land while you are not in it, then do not enter it."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ذَكَرَ الطَّاعُونَ فَقَالَ بَقِيَّةُ رِجْزٍ أَوْ عَذَابٍ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى طَائِفَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلاَ تَهْبِطُوا عَلَيْهَا قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ سَعْدٍ وَخُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَجَابِرٍ وَعَائِشَةَ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If the plague is in a land, do not enter it. And if it occurs in a land where you are, do not flee from it."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِذَا كَانَ الطَّاعُونُبِأَرْضٍ فَلا تَهْبِطُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا كَانَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلا تَفِرُّوا مِنْهُ  

What have you heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ about plague? Thereupon Usama said: Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Plague is a calamity which was sent to Bani Isra'il or upon those who were before you. So when you hear that it has broken out in a land, don't go to it, and when it has broken out in the land where you are, don't run out of it. In the narration transmitted on the authority of Abu Nadr there is a slight variation of wording. (Using translation from Muslim 2218a)   

سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي الطَّاعُونِ؟ فَقَالَ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «الطَّاعُونُ رِجْزٌ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَوْ عَلَى مَنْ قَبْلَكُمْ فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَقْدُمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ»

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ ذَكَرَ الطَّاعُونَ فَقَالَ «بَقِيَّةُ رِجْزٍ وَعَذَابٍ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى طَائِفَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَلَسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَهْبِطُوا عَلَيْهَا»  

"الطَّاعُونُ بَقِيَّةُ رجْز أَوْ عَذَابٍ أُرْسِلَ عَلَى طَائِفةٍ مِنْ بَنى إِسْرَئِيلَ، فإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُم بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ وإِذَا وَقَعَ بأَرْضٍ ولسْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَهْبِطُوا عليها ".
