Permissibility to bathe along with your spouse

The Prophet ﷺ and I used to take a bath from a single pot called 'Faraq'.

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ قَدَحٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْفَرَقُ

The Prophet ﷺ and I used to take a bath from a single pot of water and our hands used to go in the pot after each other in turn.

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ تَخْتَلِفُ أَيْدِينَا فِيهِ

Whenever Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a bath of Janaba, he washed his hands first.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا اغْتَسَلَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ غَسَلَ يَدَهُ

The Prophet ﷺ and I used to take a bath from a single pot of water after Janaba.

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ مِثْلَهُ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ washed himself with water from a vessel (measuring seven to eight seers) because of sexual intercourse.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ هُوَ الْفَرَقُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ

Hafsa, daughter of 'Abd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr, reported that 'A'isha narrated to her that she and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took a bath from the same vessel which contained water equal to three Mudds or thereabout.

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ هِيَ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ يَسَعُ ثَلاَثَةَ أَمْدَادٍ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْ ذَلِكَ

I and the Messenger ﷺ took a bath from the same vessel and our hands alternated into it in the state that we had had sexual intercourse.

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ تَخْتَلِفُ أَيْدِينَا فِيهِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ

"I heard Al-Qasim narrating that 'Aishah said: 'I used to perform Ghusl, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I from a single vessel, from Janabah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 233)

كُنْتُ «أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ»

"The Messenger of Allah and I would take a bath from a single vessel." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 376)

كُنْتُ «أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَهُوَ الْفَرَقُ»

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to take a bath, along with a woman from his wives, from one vessel.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ هُوَ وَامْرَأَةٌ مِنْ نِسَائِهِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

"I heard Al-Qasim narrating that 'Aishah said: 'I used to perform Ghusl, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I from a single vessel, from Janabah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 233)

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ

[AI] "During the time of Aisha, I used to take a bath with the Prophet ﷺ using a single container. He would take a bath from a pitcher while I would use the washbasin."

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَكَانَ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنَ الْقَدَحِ وَهُوَ الْفَرَقُ

"I heard Al-Qasim narrating that 'Aishah said: 'I used to perform Ghusl, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I from a single vessel, from Janabah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 233)

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ

"I remember rubbing the Janabah from the garment of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 300)

كُنْتُ أَفْرُكُ الْجَنَابَةَ مِنْ ثَوْبِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

"The Messenger of Allah and I would take a bath from a single vessel." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 376)

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَأَنَا أَقُولُ لَهُ أَبْقِ لِي أَبْقِ لِي

[AI] I asked Aisha, "Did you used to bathe with the Prophet ﷺ?" She said, "Yes, I used to bathe with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from a single vessel."

قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ أَكُنْتِ تَغْتَسِلِينَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمْ كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

[AI] I used to perform ablution with the Prophet ﷺ from the same vessel, and I would hasten and say, "Leave some for me, leave some for me."

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ فَأُبَادِرُهُ وَأَقُولُ دَعْ لِي دَعْ لِي

[AI] The translation of the passage is as follows: "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform gargling and inhalation when he would cleanse himself from janabah (major ritual impurity)."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا اغْتَسَلَ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ تَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ

[AI] "I used to perform ablution with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the same vessel. He would race me and I would race him, and I would say, 'Leave some for me, leave some for me.'"

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ يُبَادِرُنِي وَأُبَادِرُهُ وَأَقُولُ دَعْ لِي دَعْ لِي

"The Messenger of Allah and I would take a bath from a single vessel." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 376)

أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ يُبَادِرُنِي مُبَادَرَةً

"My maternal aunt Maimunah told me that she and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform Ghusl from one vessel." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 236)

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ هِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

I and the Messenger of Allaah ( sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) took a bath from one vessel while we were sexually defiled. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 77)

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَإِنَّا لَجُنُبَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يَجْنُبُ

[AI] "{She} used to take a ritual bath together with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from a single vessel, where he would scoop water first and she would scoop water after him."

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ هِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ يَغْرِفُ قَبْلَهَا وَتَغْرِفُ قَبْلَهُ

[AI] I used to take a bath with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from the same vessel, even though both of us were in a state of impurity (janabah). However, the water does not become impure.

لَقَدْ كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَإِنَّا لَجُنُبَانِ وَلَكِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يَجْنُبُ

"The Messenger of Allah and I would take a bath from a single vessel." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 376)

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَهُوَ بَيْنَهُمَا

I used to wash the semen off the clothes of the Prophet ﷺ and even then I used to notice one or more spots on them. (Using translation from Bukhārī 232)

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَغْسِلُ الْمَنِيَّ مِنْ ثَوْبِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ

"The Messenger of Allah and I would take a bath from a single vessel." (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 376)

"I heard Al-Qasim narrating that 'Aishah said: 'I used to perform Ghusl, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and I from a single vessel, from Janabah.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 233)

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

[AI] I used to wash myself and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in one vessel. He would hasten before me and I would hasten before him, until I would say, "Leave some for me, leave some for me."

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ فَيُبَادِرُنِي وَأُبَادِرُهُ حَتَّى أَقُولَ دَعْ لِي دَعْ لِي

The Prophet ﷺ and I used to take a bath from one container (of water). (Using translation from Bukhārī 5956)

إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يُجَنِّبُهُ شَيْءٌ قَدْ كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ يَبْدَأُ فَيَغْسِلُ يَدَيْهِ

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍوَاحِدٍ أَغْتَرِفُ أَنَا وَهُوَ مِنْهُ

[AI] "I and the Messenger of Allah used to perform ablution from the same vessel. I would say, 'Leave some for me, leave some for me.' This is what my father said."

كُنْتُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَغْتَسِلُ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ فَأَقُولُ أَبْقِ لِي أَبْقِ لِي كَذَا قَالَ أَبِي

"I used to perform Ghusl with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from one vessel, which was the size of a Faraq." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 231)

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ هِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

[AI] "She used to take a bath with the Prophet ﷺ in one container."

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَغْتَسِلُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

[AI] I used to perform ablution with the Prophet ﷺ from a single vessel, and it was his habit to begin washing his face before it.

كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَكَانَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ يَبْدَأُ قَبْلَهَا

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ هِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَغْتَسِلَانِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ كِلَاهُمَا يَغْتَرِفُ مِنْهُ

[AI] She and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ritual purification (ghusl) from the same vessel for major impurity (janabah), and he would kiss her while he was fasting.

أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ هِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَغْتَسِلَانِ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ وَكَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ

[AI] The Prophet of Allah ﷺ used to kiss her while fasting, and they would both perform ablution with one vessel.

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يُقَبِّلُهَا وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ وَكَانَا يَغْتَسِلَانِ فِي إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ

«كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي ثَوْرٍ مِنْ شِبَهٍ»
