مَا أَسْنَدَهُ أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ نِيَارٍ
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Drink in moderation, and do not get intoxicated."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اشْرَبُوا فِي الظُّرُوفِ وَلَا تَسْكَرُوا»
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Drink in moderation, and do not get intoxicated."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «اشْرَبُوا فِي الظُّرُوفِ وَلَا تَسْكَرُوا»
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ delivering a sermon while riding on a red camel.
«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ حَمْرَاءَ»
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Whoever wears silk will wear it in Hellfire." This refers to his garment.
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ وَطِئَهُ خُيَلَاءُ وَطِئَهُ فِي النَّارِ» يَعْنِي إِزَارَهُ
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to my people, who had embraced Islam. He said, "Command your people to fast on the day of Ashura, and whoever has eaten in the morning, let them fast for the rest of the day."
بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى قَوْمِي مِنْ أَسْلَمَ فَقَالَ «مُرْ قَوْمَكَ فَلْيَصُومُوا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ فَمَنْ وَجَدْتَهُ قَدْ أَكَلَ مِنْهُمْ فِي أَوَّلِ يَوْمِهِ فَلْيَصُمْ آخِرَهُ»
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "A man will emerge from among the soothsayers, who will study the Quran in a way that no one else will study it after him."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «سَيَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْكَاهِنِينَ رَجُلٌ يَدْرُسُ الْقُرْآنَ دِرَاسَةً لَا يَدْرُسُهَا أَحَدٌ بَعْدَهُ»
[Machine] It was said, "O Messenger of Allah, which earnings are the best?" He said, "The work of a person's own hands."
قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْكَسْبِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ «عَمَلُ الرَّجُلِ بِيَدِهِ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The best earnings for a man are his children and every lawful sale."
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَفْضَلُ كَسْبِ الرَّجُلِ وَلَدُهُ وَكُلُّ بَيْعٍ مَبْرُورٍ»
[Machine] I was walking with the Prophet ﷺ on one of the roads of the city, and he passed by some food. He put his hand inside and took out some bad food on his hand. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "He is not one of us who deceives."
كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي طَرِيقٍ مِنْ طُرُقِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَمَرَّ بِطَعَامٍ فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ فَأَخْرَجَ عَلَى يَدِهِ طَعَامًا رَدِيئًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ غَشَّ»
[Machine] "He came to the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , from Yemen and invited him to Islam, so he embraced Islam. The Prophet stroked his head and prayed for him with blessings, and he was placed under the command of Yazid ibn Abi Sufyan. When Abu Bakr prepared the army for Sham (Syria), he went out with them and did not return."
أَنَّهُ «قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ فَدَعَاهُ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ فَأَسْلَمَ فَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَدَعَا لَهُ بِالْبَرَكَةَ وَأَنْزَلَهُ عَلَى يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ» فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْجَيْشَ إِلَى الشَّامِ خَرَجَ مَعَهُمْ فَلَمْ يَرْجِعْ
[Machine] I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pass by a man who had food in a container. He looked at him and said, "I have deceived him who deceives us, so he is not one of us."
رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ عَلَى رَجُلٍ وَعِنْدَهُ طَعَامٌ فِي وِعَاءٍ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ «غَشَشْتُهُ مَنْ غَشَّنَا فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا»
[Machine] I heard Abu Al-Hamraa saying, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ coming to the house of Ali and Fatimah six months after their marriage, and he would say, 'Indeed, Allah wants to remove impurity from you, O people of the household, and purify you thoroughly.'"
سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَمْرَاءِ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْتِي بَابَ عَلِيٍّ وَفَاطِمَةَ سِتَّةَ أَشْهُرٍ فَيَقُولُ «إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا»
[Machine] From Abu al-Hamra, the servant of the Prophet ﷺ said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'When I was taken on the Night Journey, I entered Paradise and saw written on the leg of the Throne: There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. I supported it with Ali and helped him.'"
عَنْ أَبِي الْحَمْرَاءِ خَادِمِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِي إِلَى السَّمَاءِ دَخَلْتُ الْجَنَّةَ فَرَأَيْتُ فِي سَاقِ الْعَرْشِ مَكْتُوبًا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ أَيَّدْتُهُ بِعَلِيٍّ وَنَصَرْتُهُ»
[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by the house of Habbar ibn al-Aswad and heard the sound of singing. He asked, "What is this?" It was said to him, "It is a wedding." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "This is the time for marriage, not for immorality. Let them repeat this."
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِدَارِ هَبَّارِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ غَنَاءٍ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا؟» قِيلَ تَزْوِيجٌ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «هَذَا النِّكَاحُ لَا السَّفَّاحُ يُرَدِّدُهَا»
[Machine] Zawwaja Habbarun ibnatahu fadaraba fi 'ursiha bilkeeri wal-ghirbali fasami'a dhalika Rasulu Allahi salla Allah 'alayhi wasallama faqala "Ma hadha?" qaluu zaffa Habbaru ibnatahu fadaraba fi 'ursiha bilkeeri wal-ghirbali faqala Rasulu Allahi salla Allah 'alayhi wasallama "Ashidu an-nikaha, ashidu an-nikaha, hadha nikahun la safah."
زَوَّجَ هَبَّارٌ ابْنَتَهُ فَضَرَبَ فِي عُرْسِهَا بِالْكِيرِ وَالْغِرْبَالِ فَسَمِعَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا هَذَا؟» قَالُوا زَفَّ هَبَّارُ ابْنَتَهُ فَضَرَبَ فِي عُرْسِهَا بِالْكِيرِ وَالْغِرْبَالِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أشيدوا النِّكَاحَ أشيدوا النِّكَاحَ هَذَا نِكَاحٌ لَا سفاحٌ»
[Machine] "He said to Ma'iz ibn Malik, 'Go to the Prophet, ﷺ , and inform him of your situation.' So he went to him and informed him, but the Prophet, ﷺ , ignored him repeatedly. Ma'iz continued to repeat the matter to the Prophet, ﷺ . Eventually, the Prophet, ﷺ , sent for his people and said, 'Is he mad?' They replied, 'No.' He said, 'Is he married or unmarried?' They replied, 'He is married.' So the Prophet, ﷺ , commanded that he be stoned. He said, 'Woe to you, O Hazal! If only you had covered him with your garment, it would have been better for you.'"
أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِمَاعِزِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ اذْهَبْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَخْبِرْهُ بِحَدِيثِكَ فَأَتَاهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِرَارًا فَجَعَلَ يُرَدِّدُ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَبَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ «أَبِهِ جُنُونٌ» قَالُوا لَا قَالَ «أَبِكْرٌ أَمْ ثَيِّبٌ؟» قَالُوا بَلْ ثَيِّبٌ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ قَالَ «وَيْحَكَ يَا هَزَّالُ لَوْ سَتَرْتَهُ بِرِدَائِكَ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَكَ»
[Machine] There was a girl who used to tend her family's sheep when a man from our community named Ma'iz bin Malik came upon her and had intercourse with her. She came and informed my grandfather Hazzal, who immediately made Hazzal go to the Prophet ﷺ to confess his sin. Hazzal did not stop until Ma'iz bin Malik came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed he has committed adultery." The Prophet turned away from him three or four times, then he ordered for Ma'iz to be stoned. A man took a stone and struck him with it until he died. As he was being stoned, Ma'iz called out for help from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Prophet said, "If he had turned to me, I would have held back [the punishment]." Then he said to the one who had stoned him, "Woe to you, O Hazzal! If you had covered him with your garment, it would have been better for you." And he struck his hand on Hazzal's knee.
كَانَتْ جَارِيَةٌ تَرْعَى غَنَمًا لِأَهْلِهَا فَأَتَاهَا رَجُلٌ مِنَّا يُقَالُ لَهُ مَاعِزُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَوَقَعَ عَلَيْهَا فَجَاءَتْ فَأَخْبَرَتْ جَدِّي هَزَّالًا فَجَعَلَ جَدِّي هَزَّالٌ يُسْقِطُهُ لِيَعْتَرِفَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَيَقُولُ وَيْحَكَ إِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ خَبَرَكَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ حَتَّى جَاءَ مَاعِزُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهُ زِنًا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ أَوْ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَرُجِمَ قَالَ فَتَعَرَّضَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ بَلْحَا بَعِيرٍ فَضَرَبَ بِهِ سَاقَهُ فَصَرَعَهُ وَرَجَمُوهُ حَتَّى قَتَلُوهُ وَهُوَ يَسْتَغِيثُ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ أَتَانِي لَمْ يَرِدْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلَّذِي أَسْقَطَهُ «وَيْحَكَ يَا هَزَّالُ لَوْ سَتَرْتَهُ بِثَوْبِكَ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَكَ» وَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى رُكْبَةِ هَزَّالٍ
[Machine] He informed me, saying, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Mina riding on a camel while al-Fadl ibn Abbas was following behind him."
فَأَخْبَرَنِي قَالَ «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِمِنًى عَلَى نَاقَةٍ فَرَدَفَ خَلْفَهُ الْفَضْلَ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ»
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ while I was walking alongside my father, and he was riding on his camel named "Al-Adba" on the day of Eid al-Adha. There were people around him, so I asked my father, "What is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying?" He replied, "He is saying, 'Throw stones at the Jamaraat (pillars representing Satan during Hajj) like small pebbles.'"
رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَأَنَا رَدِيفُ أَبِي وَهُوَ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ الْعَضْبَاءِ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى وَالنَّاسُ حَوْلَهُ فَقُلْتُ لِأَبِي مَا يَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَقُولُ «ارْمُوا الْجِمَارَ بِمِثْلِ حَصَى الْخَذْفِ»
[Machine] I was riding with my father when I saw the Prophet, ﷺ , on a camel, saying, "Here I am, answering your call for Hajj and Umrah together."
كُنْتُ رِدْفَ أَبِي فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَلَى بَعِيرٍ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ «لَبَّيْكَ حَجَّةً وَعُمْرَةً مَعًا»
The Prophet ﷺ said: A beggar has the right though he may be riding (a horse). (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1665)
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لِلسَّائِلِ حَقٌّ وَإِنْ جَاءَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ»
[Machine] A man from my people gifted dates to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The Messenger asked, "What kind of dates are these?" The leper replied, "O Allah, bless the leper!"
أَهْدَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِي تَمْرًا فَقَالَ «أَيُّ التَّمْرٍ هَذَا؟» فَقَالَ الْجُذَامِيُّ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِي الْجُذَامِيِّ»
[Machine] "I saw the Prophet ﷺ praying on his mount towards the east."
«رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ»
[Machine] I saw the Prophet ﷺ delivering a sermon while riding his camel, saying, "Beware of treachery, for it is the worst kind of betrayal. Beware of oppression, for it will be darkness on the Day of Judgment. Beware of greed, as it was the cause of the destruction of those who came before you. They shed their blood and severed their ties of kinship."
رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ يَقُولُ «إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْخِيَانَةَ فَإِنَّهَا بِئْسَتُ الْبِطَانَةُ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالظُّلْمَ فَإِنَّهُ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ فَإِنَّمَا أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمُ الشُّحُّ فَسَفَكُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَقَطَّعُوا أَرْحَامَهُمْ»
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in his sandals."
«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ»
[Machine] "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying in his sandals."
«رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ»
[Machine] We gathered the council in Tripoli with us Hubayb Al-Ghifari and Amr bin Al-Aas, companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . Amr said, "The best Ramadan." Al-Ghifari said, "We do not differentiate between making up missed fasts of Ramadan." Indeed, Allah said, "So whoever among you sights the month, let him fast it."
جَمَعَنَا الْمَجْلِسُ فِي أَطْرَابُلْسَ مَعَنَا هُبَيْبٌ الْغِفَارِيُّ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ صَاحِبَا رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو «أَفْضَلُ رَمَضَانَ» فَقَالَ الْغِفَارِيُّ «لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ قَضَاءِ رَمَضَانَ» إِنَّمَا قَالَ اللهُ «فَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَ»
[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever is deceived by falsehood and follows it, he will be led into the Fire."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ وَطِئَهُ خُيَلَاءُ وَطِئَهُ فِي النَّارِ»
