[Machine] "He said to Ma'iz ibn Malik, 'Go to the Prophet, ﷺ , and inform him of your situation.' So he went to him and informed him, but the Prophet, ﷺ , ignored him repeatedly. Ma'iz continued to repeat the matter to the Prophet, ﷺ . Eventually, the Prophet, ﷺ , sent for his people and said, 'Is he mad?' They replied, 'No.' He said, 'Is he married or unmarried?' They replied, 'He is married.' So the Prophet, ﷺ , commanded that he be stoned. He said, 'Woe to you, O Hazal! If only you had covered him with your garment, it would have been better for you.'"  

الطبراني:١٨٨٢٤حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ هَزَّالٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِمَاعِزِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ اذْهَبْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَأَخْبِرْهُ بِحَدِيثِكَ فَأَتَاهُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِرَارًا فَجَعَلَ يُرَدِّدُ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَبَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ «أَبِهِ جُنُونٌ» قَالُوا لَا قَالَ «أَبِكْرٌ أَمْ ثَيِّبٌ؟» قَالُوا بَلْ ثَيِّبٌ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ قَالَ «وَيْحَكَ يَا هَزَّالُ لَوْ سَتَرْتَهُ بِرِدَائِكَ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَكَ»

[Machine] That the Prophet ﷺ would come and inform him of his hadith, so he went to Ma'iz and informed him, but he turned away from him while he was repeating that to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So he sent to his people and asked them, "Is he insane?". They said, "No." So he asked them, "Is he married or unmarried?" They said, "He is married." So he ordered that he be stoned. Then he said, "O Hazal, if you had concealed it, it would have been better for you."  

الكبرى للنسائي:٧٢٣٨أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ هَزَّالٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ أَمَرَ مَاعِزًا

أَنْ يَأْتِيَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَيُخْبِرَهُ بِحَدِيثِهِ فَأَتَى مَاعِزٌ فَأَخْبَرَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ يُرَدِّدُ ذَلِكَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَبَعَثَ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَسَأَلَهُمْ أَبِهِ جُنُونٌ؟ قَالُوا لَا فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ أَثَيِّبٌ أَمْ بِكْرٌ قَالُوا ثَيِّبٌ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «يَا هَزَّالُ لَوْ سَتَرْتَهُ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَكَ»
