He informed him of what he had done, and the Prophet, ﷺ , did not object to it.

[Machine] Qabisah ibn Mukhariq Al-Hilali came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and greeted him, to which the Prophet ﷺ returned the greeting and welcomed him. Then he asked him, "What brought you, O Qabisah?" Qabisah replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I have grown old, my skin has wrinkled, my strength has weakened, and I have become feeble regarding my family. I am unable to do things that I used to do before. Teach me some words that Allah may benefit me through them and make them concise." The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Qabisah, say these words three times when you offer the Fajr (dawn) prayer: 'Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan Allahil Azim. Wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (Glory be to Allah and all praise is due to Him, glory be to Allah the Most Great. There is no might nor power except with Allah).' If you say that, you will be safe, by the permission of Allah, from blindness, leprosy, and leucoderma." He also said, "Say, 'O Allah, guide me from You, bestow upon me Your favor, shower me with Your mercy, and send down upon me Your blessings.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite them and Qabisah would repeat them after him, folding his fingers.

[Machine] Kananah, so I said to him, "You are the leader of your people, and they come to you asking, why didn't you give them anything?" He said, "Regarding this, I will not give them anything, not even if I bite my arm until it swells. It is better for him to do that than to ask people in this way. And I will inform you about that. I carried a burden in my people, so I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I carried a burden in my people and I came to you seeking assistance in it.' He said, 'Rather, we will carry it for you, O Kabisah, and we will fulfill it for them from charity.' Then he said, 'O Kabisah, indeed, asking has been prohibited except in three cases: a man who was afflicted by a calamity that destroyed his wealth, so he asks until he secures his livelihood, then he stops; and a man who has a need, until three people from among his people who are knowledgeable regarding Hajj testify that his need has been resolved, then he stops; and a man who carries a burden, so he asks until he reaches his limit, and other than that, it is greed that he is consuming, eating something unlawful.'"

[Machine] I carried a load and came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to ask him about it. He said, "Stay, O Qabisa, until the Sadaqah comes and we give you from it." Then he said, "O Qabisa, indeed, asking is not permissible except for one of three: a man who carries a load and the load becomes overwhelming for him, and then he gives it up, and a man who is afflicted with poverty until he mentions it to three people from his people who can testify that so-and-so is afflicted with poverty, and the affliction becomes overwhelming for him until he acquires enough for a livelihood, or he said, enough to fulfill his needs, and there is no asking after this, O Qabisa. Anything obtained through begging is improper, and the one who consumes it is consuming something improper."
