22. Chapter of Qāf (Male)
[Machine] Qays ibn 'Asim came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I have a debt of eight daughters from the time of ignorance." He ﷺ said, "Free a slave for each one of them." I said, "I have camels." He said, "Give a fat carcass as a charitable gift for each one of them if you wish."
[Machine] "He asked the Prophet ﷺ about vows, to which he replied, 'There were no vows in the pre-Islamic era, so abstain from making them in Islam.'"
[Machine] He came to the Prophet ﷺ and the Prophet ﷺ commanded him to perform ablution (with) water and sidr.
[Machine] He (the Prophet) came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him to embrace Islam. So the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to perform ablution with water and sidr (a type of plant). He performed ablution and the prayer was established. He entered between Abu Bakr and Umar and stood between them. When he finished the prayer, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Qais ibn 'Asim asked me about three matters that no one else asked me about except Abu Bakr."
[Machine] "To the Prophet ﷺ , I have fulfilled in the pre-Islamic era the duty of freeing twelve or thirteen slave girls, so the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Free each one of them with a blast of wind.'"
[Machine] "O people, fear Allah and honor your elders, for when a nation honours its elders, it is succeeded by their children. And when they honor their youth, they are supported by them. And rely on earning wealth, for it is a means of generosity and a shield against humiliation. Beware of seeking people's assistance, for it is the last earnings one can acquire. And when I die, do not cry loudly, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was not cried upon. And bury me in a land where I will not be disturbed, in the earth of Bakr bin Wa'il, for I used to joke with them during pre-Islamic times."
[Machine] I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and when he saw me, I heard him say, "This is the master of the Arabs." He then said, "When we descended, I came to him and started talking to him." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the wealth that I have does not have any followers from guests, and my dependents have increased." He said, "The best wealth is 40 dinars and more, and woe to those who have 200 dinars, unless they give in its messengers, emergencies, and to the poor, and slaughter their fat camels to feed the contented and the needy." I said, "O Prophet of Allah, what noble manners and good conduct!" He said, "What do you do?" I said, "The camels graze, and people come and whoever wishes takes the lead of a she-camel and takes it away." He said, "What do you do with the weak camels?" I said, "I do not give away the young or the wounded she-camels." He said, "What is more beloved to you, your wealth or the wealth of your allies?" I said, "My wealth is more beloved to me than the wealth of my allies." He said, "Then, you have from your wealth what you have eaten and exhausted, or what you have worn and worn out, or what you have given away and spent, and otherwise they gather it and give it to you." I said, "By Allah, even if they remain, I will spend their number." Al-Hasan said, "So he did, by Allah." When death approached Qays, he said, "O my sons, take advice from me. I find nothing more sincere for you than what I advise you with when I die. So, honor your elders and do not dishonor your young ones, as people will laugh at you and disrespect you. And be wary of asking, as it is the end of a person's earning. For no one asks except that his earning is left behind. And when I die, do not wail over me, as I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding wailing. Shroud me in the same clothes that I used to pray and fast in. And when you bury me, do not bury me in a place where anyone can see me, for there were some disputes between me and Bakr ibn Wail in the time of ignorance, and I fear they may dig me up and do things that would harm your religion and worldly affairs." Al-Hasan, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "He advised them during his life and he advised them in death."
