[Machine] Makrama ibn Abi Jahl traveled to Yemen and Umm al-Hakim bint al-Harith ibn Hisham, who was a Muslim at that time and was under the protection of Makrama ibn Abi Jahl, sought permission from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to marry her husband. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted her permission and ensured her safety. She left with her slave, a Roman, who tried to seduce her but she continued to refuse and remain faithful to her husband. Eventually, they came across some people from the tribe of Akk, whom she sought help from. They stopped him and she managed to catch up to her husband near the Tihama region, who was traveling on a ship. When he boarded the ship, he called upon the idols Lat and Uzza. The people on the ship told him that it is not permissible for anyone to invoke anyone or anything except Allah alone, sincerely. Makrama said, "By Allah, even if he is in the sea, he is still on land alone." He swore by Allah that he will return to Muhammad ﷺ . So, Makrama returned with his wife, went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , pledged allegiance to him, and was accepted. During that time, a man from the Banu Bakr tribe entered the Prophet's presence while fleeing after his defeat by his wife. She hit him and rendered him helpless, embarrassing him for running away. [Machine] 'Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl ibn Hisham did not have any offspring, and he had fled on the day of the conquest until his wife sought permission from the Prophet ﷺ for him. His wife was Umm Hakim bint al-Harith ibn Hisham. The Prophet ﷺ granted him safety, but he was caught in Yemen and returned to the Prophet ﷺ . When the Prophet ﷺ saw him, he stood up to greet him and said, "Welcome to the emigrant traveler."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said on the day I came to him, "Welcome to the migrating rider, welcome to the migrating rider." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I do not leave any provision that I spend on you, except that I spend its equivalent in the way of Allah."

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent 'Amr ibn Al-'As to Bahrain, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on a military expedition and we went with him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell asleep, then he woke up and said, "May Allah have mercy on 'Amr." So we discussed among ourselves who this 'Amr was. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell asleep again and woke up and said, "May Allah have mercy on 'Amr." He fell asleep for a third time and woke up saying, "May Allah have mercy on 'Amr." We asked, "Who is 'Amr, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Amr ibn Al-'As." They asked, "What is wrong with him?" He said, "I remember that whenever I would call people to give in charity, he would come with a lot. So I would ask, 'Where did you get this from, O 'Amr?' and he would say, 'From Allah.' And 'Amr was truthful, for with Allah, 'Amr has a great reward." Zuhayr said, "When the fitnah (trial) occurred, I said, 'Shall I follow this (person)?' He (the Prophet) had not said something about him, so I did not leave him."

We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we speak to you but you do not respond, and we greet you but you do not return our greetings?' He said, 'Until the verse of permission was revealed, "O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer..."'"

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah sent to us Al-Walid ibn 'Uqbah ibn Abi Mu'ayt to collect our charity funds. He traveled until he was close to us, after the Battle of Al-Muraysi', then he returned. We followed him and came to the Prophet ﷺ . Al-Walid said, "O Messenger of Allah, I came to a people during their pre-Islamic era, they took their garments and prevented giving charity. The Prophet ﷺ did not change that until the verse was revealed: "O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information" [Quran 49:6]. Then some of the Musterers came to the Prophet ﷺ with a part of their charity that they were driving and the expenses they were carrying. They mentioned this to him and that they had gone out seeking Al-Walid with their charity, but did not find him, so they handed over to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what they had with them and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have heard about the departure of your messenger, so we followed him and thought we would meet him, but when we got news of his return, we were afraid that his anger would be upon us." They offered to buy from him what was left of their charity, but the Prophet ﷺ accepted their obligatory charity and said, "Take back your expenses. We do not sell anything from the charity until we receive it." So, they returned to their families, and the Prophet ﷺ sent someone to collect the rest of their charity.

[Machine] I went to Makkah, and when I arrived at Dharriyah, some of my brothers asked me, "Do you have companionship with a man who was a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ?" I replied, "Yes." The owner of the damaged dome said, "He is in such and such a place." So I said to my companions, "Come with me to him." We went to him and greeted him, and he returned the greeting. Then he asked, "Who are you?" We replied, "We are people from Basra who have heard that you have companionship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." He said, "Yes, I accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and sat under his pulpit on the day of the Farewell Pilgrimage. He ascended the pulpit and praised Allah and praised him. Then he said, 'O people, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you into nations and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.' There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab, nor for a white person over a black person, nor for a black person over a white person, except through piety. O people of Quraysh, do not come to me with the worldly matters that burden you and let the people come to me with matters of the Hereafter. For I cannot benefit you from Allah at all." We asked him, "What is your name?" He replied, "I am Al-AdDA' bin 'Amr bin 'Amir, the knight of Dahyah in the pre-Islamic era."

So do not hasten until the Day of Resurrection."

[Machine] We performed the Hajj pilgrimage and we passed through the Munkadir road where people were taking a wrong path. While we were in that state, an Arab approached us, appearing as if he had come out of the ground. He said to me, "Oh, Sheikh, do you know where you are?" I said, "No." He said, "You are in Dhawā’ib, near this white hill which you see. It is the bones of Bakr ibn Wā’il and Taghlib. And this is the grave of Kulayb, my brother Muhallil." Then he said to me, "Do you have someone who has the companionship of the Prophet ﷺ, from whom you can learn?" I said, "Yes." So he took me to the dome of Adam. And there I found a man, with his eyebrows tied together with a band. I asked him, "Who is this?" He replied, "This is Al-‘Adā’ ibn Khālid ibn ‘Amr, the knight of Adh-Dhahyah during the era of ignorance." I said to him, "May Allah have mercy on you, tell us a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said, "We were with the Prophet ﷺ when a group of people stood up before him, looking frightened. Ibn Mas‘ūd said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you stood up as if you were frightened.' He replied, 'Beware of the three great liars.' Ibn Mas‘ūd said, 'You have warned us about Ad-Dajjāl, the one-eyed liar, and about the greatest of liars. So who is the third?' He said, 'A man will come out among the people, and the first and last of them will be cursed upon, they will have constant damnation, in a trial called Al-Hāriqah (the burning). He is the Dajjāl Al-Atlasi who will eat the servants of Allah.'"

They said, "She is Fatimah, the daughter of Adiy." He said, "You should marry her to A'ith ibn 'Amr." So her father married her to him and he advised him concerning her.

The Messenger of Allah called them and asked them about it. They said, 'We found him driving your horses and we wanted to take them back, but he resisted us, so we killed him.' I don't know whether they were telling the truth or they were swearing falsely, except that my brother had asked him about embracing Islam and did not find any clear evidence, thus he reasoned that the sanctity of the sacred month was violated. [Machine] Something happened to my eyesight, so I sent a message to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying that I would like for him to come and pray in my house so that I can make it a place of worship. The Prophet ﷺ, along with some of his companions whom Allah willed, came to me and he was praying in my house while his companions were talking amongst themselves and also mentioning the hypocrites. Then they reported this incident and the severity of it to Malik ibn Dukhshum and they wanted him to curse me so that I would die, or they wanted something bad to happen to me. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer and said, "Is it not true that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" They said that he said this, but it was not in his heart. He ﷺ said, "Anyone who testifies that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah ﷺ will not enter the Fire or be fed by the Fire."

So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up among a group of his companions and they went to him. They spoke amongst themselves and mentioned Malik ibn Dukhshum, and some of them said, "O Messenger of Allah, that is the cave of the hypocrites and their dwelling place. They frequent it a lot." So when that day came, his companions gathered in my house and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and heard them talking, the people of Al-Madina being more severe towards the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , and having more enmity towards him. They informed Malik Ibn Dukhshum about it, so the Prophet ﷺ asked them, "What are you discussing?" Malik Ibn Dukhshum asked them, "Doesn't he testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, he is a companion." He said, "Doesn't he testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?" They said, "Yes." He said, "By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, if he says it sincerely from his heart, it will never be the Fire that consumes him." Anas said to me, "Remember this hadith, for it is one of the treasures of knowledge." [Machine] I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, I have lost my sight, and the paths prevent me from reaching the mosque of my people. I wish that you came and prayed in a designated place in my house. The Prophet ﷺ replied, 'I will do so, if Allah wills.' The Prophet ﷺ then passed by Abu Bakr and followed him. He entered and asked while standing, 'Where do you want me to pray?' I pointed to where I wanted him to pray, and then we confined him in a small enclosure that we made for him. The people of the valley, meaning the people of the house, heard about this and flocked to him until the house was filled. A man asked, 'Where is Malik bin Ad-Dukhshun or Ibn Ad-Dukhaysh?' Another man replied, 'He is a hypocrite who does not love Allah or His Messenger.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Do not say that while I am saying La ilaha illallah. He seeks by it the countenance of Allah.' They said, 'O Messenger of Allah, we see his face and hear his speech concerning the hypocrites.' The Prophet ﷺ said again, 'Do not say that while I am saying La ilaha illallah. He seeks by it the countenance of Allah.' They said, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' He said, 'Therefore, on the Day of Resurrection, there will not be anyone who says La ilaha illallah seeking by it the countenance of Allah except that Allah will prohibit him from the Fire.' Mahmoud (the narrator) said, 'So I conveyed this Hadith to some people, including Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari, who said, 'I do not think the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said what you have said. If I return to Itban bin Malik, I will ask him.' So, I went back to him and found him to be an elderly man who had lost his sight, yet he was the leader of his people. I sat beside him and asked him about this Hadith, and he narrated it to me as he had before. Ma'mar said, 'When Az-Zuhri narrated this Hadith, he used to say, 'Then after that, obligations and matters were revealed. We consider this matter to have been completed. So whoever is able to not change, should not change.'
