“I entered upon Muhammad bin Maslamah and he said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘There will be tribulation, division and dissension. When that comes, take your sword to Uhud and strike it until it breaks, then sit in your house until there comes to you the hand of the evildoer (to kill you) or a predestined (natural) death.’” "And that came to pass, and I did as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said."

إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ فِتْنَةٌ وَفُرْقَةٌ وَاخْتِلاَفٌ فَإِذَا كَانَ كَذَلِكَ فَأْتِ بِسَيْفِكَ أُحُدًا فَاضْرِبْهُ حَتَّى يَنْقَطِعَ ثُمَّ اجْلِسْ فِي بَيْتِكَ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَكَ يَدٌ خَاطِئَةٌ أَوْ مَنِيَّةٌ قَاضِيَةٌ فَقَدْ وَقَعَتْ وَفَعَلْتُ مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

[AI] I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what should I do if the worshippers disagree?" He said, "Go out with your sword to the open area and strike it with it, then go back to your house until death or a wrongful hand reaches you."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ إِذَا اخْتَلَفَ الْمُصَلُّونَ؟ قَالَ «تَخْرُجُ بِسَيْفِكَ إِلَى الْحَرَّةِ فَتَضْرِبُهَا بِهِ ثُمَّ تَدْخُلُ بَيْتَكَ حَتَّى تَأْتِيَكَ مَنِيَّةٌ قَاضِيَةٌ أَوْ يَدٌ خَاطِئَةٌ» حذفه الذهبي من التلخيص لضعفه

[AI] I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what should I do if the worshippers differ?" He said, "Take your sword and go to a deserted place and strike it, then return to your house until death or a mistaken hand reaches you."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ إِذَا اخْتَلَفَ الْمُصَلُّونَ؟ قَالَ «تَخْرُجُ بِسَيْفِكِ إِلَى الْحَرَّةِ فَتَضْرِبُهَا بِهِ ثُمَّ تَدْخُلُ بَيْتَكَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكَ مَنِيَّةٌ قَاضِيَةٌ أَوْ يَدٌ خَاطِئَةٌ»

[AI] To the messenger of Allah ﷺ , surely there will be division, trials, and disputes. So strike with your sword the neck of Uthman, and stay in your house until a sinful hand reaches you or Allah heals you.

"يَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنَ مَسْلَمَةَ: إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ فِتْنَةٌ وفُرْقَةٌ وَاخْتِلَافٌ، فَإِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ فَاكْسِرْ سَيْفَكَ، وَاكْسِرْ نَبْلَكَ، وَاقْطَعْ وَتَركَ، وَاجْلِسْ فِى بَيْتِكَ".

" عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ قَالَ: أَعْطَانِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَيْفًا فَقَالَ: قَاتِلْ بِهِ المُشرِكِيْنَ مَا قُوتِلُوا، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ أُمَّتِى يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا فَائْتِ بِهِ أُحُدًا فَاضْرِبْ بِهِ حَتَّى يَنْكَسِرَ، ثُمَّ اجْلِسْ فِى بَيْتِكَ حَتَّى تَأتِيكَ يَدٌ خَاطِئةٌ، أَوْ مَنِيَّةٌ قَاضِيَةٌ".
