"ارموا واركبوا، وأنْ ترمُوا أَحبُّ إليّ مِنْ أنْ تركبوا، كُل شيْءٍ يلهو به الرجلُ باطلٌ إِلا رَمْيَ الرَّجُل بقوْسِه، أو تأَديبَه فرسه، أو مُلاعبتَه امرأته؛ فإِنَّهنَّ مِن الحق، ومن ترك الرمي بعدما علمه فقد كفر (الذي علمه) ".

That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, Allah will surely admit three into Paradise by a single arrow. Its maker who seeks good by his making it, the one who shoots it, and the one who holds arrows for him." And he said: "Practice archery and practice riding, and the you should practice archery is more beloved to me than that you should ride. All idle pastimes that the Muslim man engages in are falsehood, except for his shooting of his bow, his training of his horse, and his playing with his wife, for they are from truth."

"Uqbah bin 'Amir used to pass by me and say: 'O Khalid, let us go out and shoot arrows.' One day I came late and he said: 'O Khalid, come and I will tell you what the Messenger of Allah said.' So I went to him and he said: 'The Messenger of Allah said: Allah will admit three people to Paradise because of one arrow: The one who makes it seeking good thereby, the one who shoots it and the one who hands it to him. So shoot and ride, and if you shoot that is dearer to me than if you ride. And play is only in three things: A man training his horse, and playing with his wife, and shooting with his bow and arrow. Whoever gives up shooting after learning it because he is no longer interested in it, that is a blessing for which he is ungrateful -or that he has rejected.'"

[AI] "O Khalid, come out with us so we can do some target practice. But I was slow in hitting it, so he said: 'O Khalid, come here, let me tell you something that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me, and I will tell you what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Indeed, Allah admits by only one arrow three people into Paradise: the maker who made it seeking good, the one who shoots it, and the one who says 'throw' and 'ride'. And if you throw it is dearer to me than you riding. And there are only three things from jesting: the discipline of a man through his horse, his playing with his wife, and throwing with his arrows away from his people. And whoever learns archery and then abandons it, it is a blessing that he has disowned.'"
يَا خَالِدُ اخْرُجْ بِنَا نَرْمِي فَأَبْطَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا خَالِدُ تَعَالَ أُحَدِّثْكَ مَا حَدَّثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَقُولُ لَكَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُدْخِلُ بِالسَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ ثَلَاثَةَ نَفَرٍ الْجَنَّةَ صَانِعَهُ الَّذِي احْتَسَبَ فِي صَنْعَتِهِ الْخَيْرِ وَمُتَنَبِّلُهُ وَالرَّامِي ارْمُوا وَارْكَبُوا وَإِنْ تَرْمُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكَبُوا وَلَيْسَ مِنَ اللَّهْوِ إِلَّا ثَلَاثَةٌ تَأْدِيبُ الرَّجُلِ فَرَسَهُ وَمُلَاعَبَتُهُ زَوْجَتَهُ وَرَمْيُهُ بِنَبْلِهِ عَنْ قَوْمِهِ وَمَنْ عَلِمَ الرَّمْيَ ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ فَهِيَ نِعْمَةٌ كَفَرَهَا»
[AI] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Everything from the pleasures of this worldly life is void, except for three things: your practice with your bow, your training of your horse, and your play with your family, as these are from what is true.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ also said, 'Practice archery and ride horses, for indeed if you practice archery, Allah will admit three into Jannah (Paradise) for the work and intention put into it - the one who shoots, the one who prepares the arrow, and the one who carries the arrow.'"

عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَيْدٍ الْأَزْرَقُ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ
[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah can admit a person into heaven with just one arrow. Its maker will have good intentions in making it, the one who shoots it, and the one who guides it." He also said, "Throw and ride, and I prefer that you throw rather than ride. Everything that a person engages in for amusement is futile, except for his training with his horse, shooting arrows with his bow, and interacting with his spouse."

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ narrated to me, or I say to you as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah admits into Paradise by a single arrow three individuals: the maker of the arrow, the one who sharpens it, and the one who shoots it. And throwing an arrow is more beloved to me than riding on a mount. And there are only three things from which there is no diversion from Allah: the training of a man on his horse, the playfulness of his wife, and his shooting with his arrows from his bow. And whoever learns how to shoot and then leaves it, then it is a grace that he has disbelieved in."

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Shoot and ride. I prefer that you shoot rather than ride. Everything that distracts a man from his duties is futile, except shooting with a bow, training his horse, or playing with his spouse, for these are from the truth. And whoever gives up shooting after having knowledge of it, he has disbelieved in what he knew. This is mentioned in the book of Ibn Yazid. And another person, Abdullah ibn Zaid, said..."

"إِنَّ الله لَيُدْخِلُ بالسَّهُمِ الْوَاحِدِ ثلاثَةً الْجَنَّةَ: صَانِعَه يَحْتَسِبُ في صَنْعَتِهِ الْخَيرَ، والرَّامِي بهِ، والْمُمِدَّ بِه، ارْمُوا وارْكَبُوا، وَلأَنْ تَرْمُوا أَحَبُّ إِليَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكبُوا، كُلُّ مَا يَلْهُو بِه الرَّجلُ الْمُسلِمُ بَاطِلٌ إلا رَمْيَهُ بقَوْسِهِ، أَوْ تَأْدِيبَهُ فَرَسَهُ، أَوْ مُلَاعَبَتَهُ أَهْلَهُ فَإِنَّهُنَّ مِنَ الْحَقِّ، ومَنْ عَلِمَ الرَّمْيَ ثُمَّ تَرَكَهُ فَهِيَ نِعْمَةٌ كَفَرَها".
"Uqbah bin 'Amir used to pass by me and say: 'O Khalid, let us go out and shoot arrows.' One day I came late and he said: 'O Khalid, come and I will tell you what the Messenger of Allah said.' So I went to him and he said: 'The Messenger of Allah said: Allah will admit three people to Paradise because of one arrow: The one who makes it seeking good thereby, the one who shoots it and the one who hands it to him. So shoot and ride, and if you shoot that is dearer to me than if you ride. And play is only in three things: A man training his horse, and playing with his wife, and shooting with his bow and arrow. Whoever gives up shooting after learning it because he is no longer interested in it, that is a blessing for which he is ungrateful -or that he has rejected.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 3578)

"كُلُّ شيْءٍ مِنْ لَهُو الدُّنْيَا بَاطِلٌ إِلَّا ثَلاثَةً: انْتِضَالكَ بِقَوْسك، وَتَأديبَكَ فَرَسَكَ، وَملاعَبَتَكَ أهْلَكَ، فَإِنَّهَا مِنَ الْحَقِّ، انْتَضِلُوا وَارْكَبوا وَأن تَنْتَضلُوا أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ، إِنَّ الله لَيدْخِلُ بِالسَّهْم الْوَاحِدِ ثَلاثَةً الْجَنَّةَ، صَانِعُه يَحْتَسِبُ فِيهِ الخَير، وَالمُمِدُّ بِه, وَالرَّامِى".
