"I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: 'No Imam closes his door on one in need, dire straits and poverty, except that Allah closes the gates of the Heavens from his dire straits, his needs, and his poverty.' So Mu'awiyah appointed a man to look after the needs of the people."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ إِمَامٍ يُغْلِقُ بَابَهُ دُونَ ذَوِي الْحَاجَةِ وَالْخَلَّةِ وَالْمَسْكَنَةِ إِلاَّ أَغْلَقَ اللَّهُ أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ دُونَ خَلَّتِهِ وَحَاجَتِهِ وَمَسْكَنَتِهِ فَجَعَلَ مُعَاوِيَةُ رَجُلاً عَلَى حَوَائِجِ النَّاسِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

[AI] From his cousin, one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ , came to Muawiyah and entered upon him. He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever is given authority over the affairs of the people but closes his door upon the poor, the oppressed, or those in need, then Allah, the Exalted and Almighty, will close the doors of His mercy upon him when he is in need and poverty. This is the poorest condition one can reach.'"

عَنِ ابْنِ عَمٍّ لَهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَتَى مُعَاوِيَةَ فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ وَلِيَ أَمْرًا مِنْ أَمْرِ النَّاسِ ثُمَّ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ دُونَ الْمِسْكِينِ وَالْمَظْلُومِ أَوْ ذِي الْحَاجَةِ أَغْلَقَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى دُونَهُ أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِهِ عِنْدَ حَاجَتِهِ وَفَقْرِهِ أَفْقَرُ مَا يَكُونُ إِلَيْهَا

[AI] On the authority of his cousin from among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ , who came to Muawiyah and entered upon him, and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever is appointed to take charge of people and then closes his door without fulfilling the needs of the poor, the oppressed, or those in need, Allah will close His doors of mercy upon him when he is in need and poverty. He will be the poorest of all people."

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ دُونَ ذَوِي الْحَاجَةِ وَالْخَلَّةِ وَالْمَسْكَنَةِ أَغْلَقَ اللَّهُ بَابَ السَّمَاءِ دُونَ خَلَّتِهِ وَحَاجَتِهِ وَفَقْرِهِ وَمَسْكَنَتِهِ» صحيح

"مَا مِنْ إِمَامٍ أَوْ وَال يُغْلِقُ بَابَه دُونَ ذَوي الحَاجَة وَالخَلَّة وَالمَسكنة، إِلا أَغْلَقَ الله أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ دُونَ خَلَّته (*) وحَاجَتِه وَمَسْكَنَتِهِ".

"مَا مِنْ أَمِيرٍ وَلا وَال يُغْلق بَابَه دُونَ ذَوي الخَلَّةِ وَالحَاجَةِ وَالمَسْكَنَةِ، إِلا أَغْلقَ اللهُ أَبْوَابَ السَّماءِ دُونَ حَاجَته وَخَلّته وَمَسكنَته".

"مَنْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ دُونَ ذَوي الْفَقْر وَالْحَاجَةِ أَغْلَقَ اللهُ عَنْ فَقْرِهِ وحَاجَتِهِ بَابَ السَّمَاءِ".

"مَنْ أَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ دُونَ ذَوي الْحَاجَةِ وَالْخَلَّةِ وَالْمَسْكَنَةِ أَغْلَقَ اللهُ بَابَ السَّماءِ دُونَ خَلَّتِه وَحَاجَتِهِ وَفَقرِه وَمَسْكَنَتِهِ".

"مَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ شَيئًا فَأَغْلَقَ بَابَهُ دُونَ الْمِسْكينِ أوْ الْمَظلُومِ أَو ذِي الْحَاجَةِ أَغْلَقَ اللهُ دُونَهُ أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِهِ عِنْدَ حَاجَتِهِ وَفَقْرِهِ أَفْقَرَ مَا يَكُونُ إِلَيهِ".
